The Honorable City Council of Doña Mencía and the “Cinema and Rural Environments” Association, with the proud sponsorship of the Andalusian Regional Government and the Córdoba Provincial Council, are thrilled to announce the launch of the 1st EDITION OF THE DOÑA MENCÍA SHORT FILM COMPETITION: “MENCITOPÍA.”

Premi in contanti: 2,300€

1st Prize – Official Section: €1,000

2nd Prize – Official Section: €500

Audience Award – “Corto Express: Mencitopía 3 en 1” Section: €800

1. Objective

To promote audiovisual creativity and showcase Doña Mencía as a unique cinematic destination, supporting both professional and amateur filmmakers.

2. Participants

Open to individuals over the age of 18, of any nationality, residing in Spain. Both professionals and enthusiasts are welcome to participate.

3. Entry Requirements

● Each participant may submit as many short films as they wish.

● Films must be submitted in their original language. If the film is not in Spanish, Spanish subtitles are required.

● Maximum duration: 5 minutes. The theme and genre (fiction, documentary, experimental, animation) are entirely open.

● Films must have been completed after September 1, 2024.

● Winning films will be screened during the closing gala on November 1, 2025.

● A representative of the film must be present at the gala in order to collect the award.

4. Registration

● Submissions must be made via the Festhome platform.

● Required materials: technical sheet, synopsis, and 3 still images from the film, along with the short film itself.

● Registration is free of charge.

5. Originality of the Works

All submitted films must be original and unpublished.

Participants are solely responsible for any claims related to copyright, neighboring rights, or any third-party intellectual or industrial property rights.

6. Screening & Closing Gala

The screening and award ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Casa de la Cultura “Juan Valera” in Doña Mencía.

7. Jury & Awards

The jury will consist of professionals from the audiovisual sector and council members from the Doña Mencía Town Hall. The jury’s decision is final.

The jury reserves the right to declare any category void or to award shared prizes (ex aequo), in which case the prize money will be divided equally.

8. Rights Assignment

Participants grant the organization non-exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, and publicly exhibit the submitted works for cultural, promotional, or documentary purposes strictly related to the festival.

9. Authorization of Use

Filmmakers whose works are selected for screening authorize the Cinema and Rural Environments Association (the event’s organizing body) to use their films for non-commercial, cultural screenings during the festival.

10. Acceptance of the Terms

Participation in this competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of all terms and conditions stated herein.

PRIZE RECIPIENTS, PAYMENT TERMS, AND INVOICING
Prize recipients: Awards will be granted to the individual or production company listed on the submission form.

Payment method and invoicing: Payment will be made via bank transfer, upon receipt of an invoice when applicable. All payments are subject to current tax regulations.
