The Esteemed City Council of Doña Mencía, through its Departments of Youth and Tourism, the “Cine y Entornos Rurales” Association and the Provincial Council of Córdoba, with the collaboration of the Government of Andalusia, the Subbética Commonwealth and Selpillar Studios, hereby announce the rules for the 2nd EDITION OF THE DOÑA MENCÍA SHORT FILM COMPETITION

1st Prize (Official Competition): €1,000

2nd Prize (Official Competition): €500

1st Prize (Express Short Films Competition: Mencitopía 3 en 1): €800

Audience Award (Express Short Films Competition: Mencitopía 3 en 1): €400

1. Purpose

To promote audiovisual creativity and showcase Doña Mencía as a film location, supporting both professional and amateur creators.

2. Participants

Individuals over 18 years of age, of any nationality, residing in Spain, whether professionals or amateurs, may participate.

3. Participation Requirements

* Each participant may submit as many short films as they wish.

* Films must be submitted in their original language or, if the original language is not Spanish, with Spanish subtitles embedded within the film itself.

* The running time of the short films may not exceed 5 minutes.

* The theme and genre (fiction, documentary, experimental or animation) are free.

* The release date of the short films must be after 1 September 2025.

* The screening of the winning short films will take place during the closing gala on **Saturday, 24 October 2026.

* Attendance by a representative of the winning short film is an essential requirement for receiving the prize.

4. Registration

* Registration must be completed through the Festhome platform.
* Participants must submit the technical information, synopsis and 3 stills, in addition to the corresponding short film.
* Registration is free of charge.
* The registration period will remain open until
* 13 September 2026.

5. Originality of the Works

* The submitted short films must be original and previously unreleased.

* Participants shall be solely responsible for any claims relating to copyright, related rights, or third-party intellectual or industrial property rights.

6. Screening and Closing Gala

The closing gala and screening of the winning short films will take place on **Saturday, 24 October 2026, at the “Juan Valera” Cultural Centre in Doña Mencía.

7. Jury and prizes

The jury will be composed of professionals from the audiovisual sector and councillors from the Doña Mencía City Council. Its decision shall be final.

The jury may declare one or more prizes void and may award prizes jointly (ex aequo), in which case the corresponding prize money will be divided equally among the winners.

1st Prize: €1,000

2nd Prize: €500

8. Assignment of Rights

Participants grant the organisation, on a non-exclusive basis, the rights to reproduce, distribute and publicly communicate their works, solely for cultural, promotional or documentary purposes related to the festival.

9. Authorisation for Use

The representatives of the selected films included in the programme grant the Cine y Entornos Rurales Association (the association responsible for organising the event) permission to use their films for screening during the festival for cultural and non-profit purposes.

10. Acceptance of the Rules

Participation in this category of the competition implies the full and unconditional acceptance of all the provisions set out in these rules.

PRIZE RECIPIENTS, PAYMENT OF prizes AND INVOICING

*Prize recipients: The prizes will be paid to the individual or production company indicated on the registration form.

*Payment of prizes:prizes will be paid by bank transfer.
