Berliner Fenster and Seoul Metro in cooperation with SESIFF (Seoul) present:
From the 7th September until 22th 2015 Berliner Fenster and Seoul Metro in cooperation with SESIFF (Seoul) will run the 12th International Short Film Festival for 'Ultra Shorts' in Berlin's and Seoul´s underground trains. On over 6,100 monitors in Berlin and Seoul subways, 2.7 million passengers turn into an underground movie audience for two weeks, and can vote for their favorite of the 26 films.

International Subway Film Festival Berlin & Seoul
From the 7th September until the 22nd September, Berliner Fenster (Berlin) and SESIFF (Seoul) in cooperation with Seoul Metro will run the twelfth International Short Film Festival for 'Extreme-Shorts' in Berlin´s and Seoul's underground trains. On over 6,100 monitors in Berlin and Seoul subways, 2.7 million passengers turn into an underground movie audience for two weeks, and can vote for their favorite of about 30 films.

2. Purpose
Going Underground 2015 (6th Seoul Metro International subway Film Festival) introduces various world-wide ultra short films on Berlin and Seoul and Munich subway monitors and aims to contribute in making cosmopolitan cultural environment where anyone can enjoy movies in various places beyond cinemas.

5. Submission
5-1. Submission Dates : April 6th ~ July 15th, 2015
5-2. Conditions
5-2-1. Film for competition should be no longer than 90 seconds.
5-2-2. Films should be free of extreme violent or obscene content and should be suitable for public (showing)
5-2-3. Films would be screened without sound and even dialogues as it would be screened in subways.
* But you can use sound for the online screening.
5-2-4. There is no limit to the year of production of films and videos.
5-3. Registration Method : Registration application is accepted via online only.
5-3-1. Applicants must register via Festhome site (www.festhome.com) and upload the festival preview.
(WE DO NOT ACCEPT registration by post mail and any offline registration.)
6. Judging and Awards
6-1. Nomination
Entries for the competition section will be reviewed by preliminary juries from which the final selections will be made. Selection results will be posted on the official website on 27th July, 2015 and the individuals (the finalists only) will be notified via e-mail. Nominated work cannot be canceled arbitrarily.
6-2. Final Judging
The award winners will be chosen through online votes of Berlin and Seoul audiences during the festival.
6-3. Awards
6-3-1. Seoul Metro – Berliner Fenster 1st Prize : € 3,000
- A cash award of 3,000 Euros with a trophy will be awarded to one film with the most online votes out of all films screened in “International Competition”.
6-3-2. Seoul Metro – Berliner Fenster 2nd Prize : € 2,000
- A cash award of 2,000 Euros with a trophy will be awarded to one film with the second highest online votes out of all films screened in “International Competition”.
6-3-3. Seoul Metro – Berliner Fenster 3rd Prize : € 1,000
- A cash award of 1,000 Euros with a trophy will be awarded to one film with the third highest online votes out of all films screened in “International Competition”.
6-3-4. SeoulMetro Special Award : \ 1,000,000
- A cash award of 1,000,000 won with a trophy will be awarded to one film with the most online votes out of all films screened in “Korean Competition”.
※ Award details and titles can be subjected to change.
7. Submission of Entries for Screening
7-1. For films chosen to be screened, the film file for screening and all the necessary materials requested by Going Underground must be submitted completely by 5th August, 2015 at the latest. Details regarding submitting final films will be sent to nominees individually.
7-2. The Screening Format
DV, HDV, DVCAM, HD, DVD or .mov file. (Quicktime ProRes 422 HQ and MPEG 4 H264 Codec are the preferred formats) The file size is full HD (1920X1080) or HD (1280X720).
※ All screening films should have English subtitles when the spoken language in the film is not in English. Subtitles size is 1/16 of full screen. The festival has the right to reject screening films that are without English subtitles.
7-3. Materials Related to the Film
(1) Photo of Filmmaker 1280x600 pixels, over 300dpi)
(2) 3 still cuts of film (1280x600 pixels, over 300dpi)
(3) English dialogue list (Films with English subtitles as well. Time code is necessary.)
(4) Available publicity material such as press release or posters
7-4. Submitted materials will be used in making the SESIFF catalog and promotion materials and will not be returned.
7-5. For films that are confirmed for screening, the still cuts, portions or entire of the film submitted to the festival might be used to promote the films.
7-6. All expenses regarding entries must be paid by the submitter.
8. Film Festival Screening
8-1. Screening Schedule: Going Underground will decide the screening date, time, and the location (including indoor/outdoor screening, mobile and online screenings.)
8-2 Copyright Responsibilities : Submitters must clear all copyright issues regarding music, pictures and images used for the film before the screening date. Going Underground 2015 will not check individually on this issue and will not take any responsibility for any issues regarding copyright.
9. Screening after the Festival
9-1. Going Underground 2015 might use the films and the related materials of the films to promote the festival for 1 year after the festival upon agreement with the copyright holder. However, Films can be screened via homepage, SNS and mobile webpage for 1 year after the festival without any separate agreement or approval.
9-2. When a fee is charged to view the film, royalty will be paid to the copyright holder. If the is film chosen to be screened, the above statement should not be a problem in distributions, production and to related organizations.
10. Others
10-1. Contact information (e.g. E-mail address, phone number) should be specified in a registration to receive a notification such as selection result.
10-2. The films screened at SESIFF and related materials can be archived after this festival.
11. Agreement
11-1. The regulations above shall take effect from the time the applications are submitted.
11-2. When anything written in the submission form is found to be untrue, SESIFF reserves the right to cancel the nomination or disqualify the entry.
11-3. SESIFF executive members reserve the right to make decisions on matters not specified in the regulations.
