During the month of November, the Anfibia Festival turns Madrid into the capital for discovering new narratives and explores the creative potential of adaptation.

#AnfibiaFest is a space for connecting audiences with new creative universes and diverse and diverse origin formats.

The registration period for audiovisual works will be open from August 21 to September 18, 2025. Fiction or non-fiction audiovisual works, series, and animations adapted from any narrative format—such as novels, graphic novels, illustrated works, stage plays, video games, journalistic reports, digital content, or other narrative media—are eligible to participate.

The fourth edition of the Anfibia Festival will take place in November 2025 in Madrid.

The Festival will present a variety of prizes in recognition of the best submitted works. Specific details regarding the nature, value, and types of prizes will be announced in due course through the Festival’s official channels.
For any inquiries concerning the awards, participants may contact the Festival organization through these same channels.

1. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

1.1 Fiction or non-fiction audiovisual works, series, and animations adapted from any narrative format—such as novels, graphic novels, illustrated works, stage plays, video games, journalistic reports, digital content, or other narrative media—are eligible to participate. During registration, applicants must clearly specify the original format of the adapted work, provide relevant information about the source material, and, where applicable, proof of ownership of the corresponding rights.

1.2 Both national and international audiovisual works must have been produced in 2024 or 2025 and must not have had a commercial theatrical release in Spain.

1.3 Works may be in any language. If not in Spanish, they must include Spanish subtitles. If available, please also submit a copy with audio description.

1.4 The production company or distributor submitting audiovisual works must hold the national and international exhibition rights for each submitted work.

1.5 Applicants may submit more than one work, but a separate registration form must be completed for each submission.

1.6 The Festival will not accept audiovisual works that advocate, incite, or condone discrimination, hatred, or violence on the grounds of sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, or any other circumstance that undermines the dignity and fundamental rights of individuals.

1.7 Works may only be submitted through the Festhome platform.
Only legally authorized production companies or distributors holding the legal rights to the submitted works may register. The individual signing the registration form will be regarded by the Festival as the sole contact for all matters relating to the participation of the audiovisual work.

The deadline for the submission of audiovisual works is September 18, 2025, inclusive (official time in Spain, CEST, UTC+2).

Required materials:
- A viewing link to the audiovisual work (with password if necessary), valid until at least October 20, 2025.
- Brief synopsis of the audiovisual work (Max. 600 characters).
- Complete technical and artistic credits.
- Biofilmography of the creator.
- Promotional material: posters, stills, teaser, and/or reels for social media.
- Information about the original work: title, author, year of publication, and format.
- Documentation proving the adaptation rights of the original work, if applicable.

2. SELECTION OF AUDIOVISUAL WORKS

2.1 A selection committee composed of an interdisciplinary team of professionals with a transmedia perspective will evaluate all submitted works to determine the audiovisual pieces that will be part of the Festival program.

2.2 The results of the selection will be communicated to the production company or distributor of the selected works from October 6, 2025.
The producer or distributor will receive a screening proposal form indicating the organization’s proposed venue, date, and time for the screening. They must complete and return this form to the Festival within five calendar days of notification. Final program confirmation depends on the acceptance of this proposal by the producer or distributor.

2.3 The Festival will be responsible for paying copyright and intellectual property fees arising from the public screening of the selected works during the event, for an amount of €350 (excluding taxes), once the selection has been confirmed and upon receipt of the corresponding invoice. This payment shall apply exclusively to screenings held within the framework and official dates of the Festival, and shall not imply any further financial obligations beyond this scope.

2.4 The Festival organization will determine the screening order and date for each audiovisual work.

2.5 The screening format for selected audiovisual works will be:
DCP (DCI standards). If encrypted, the Festival will not cover the costs associated with generating DKDMs or KDMs.
Screening copies in DVD or Blu-ray format will not be accepted.

2.6 If the audiovisual work has distribution in Spain, the distribution company must provide the Festival with a screening copy in the original version (OV) with subtitles. If the work needs to be subtitled, the company providing it must supply the appropriate materials: download link, dialogue list, and/or subtitle files.

2.7 If the Festival needs to share the screening copy with other festivals, this must be indicated in the submission form, specifying the availability of the copy during the Festival dates.

2.8 The Festival undertakes to return the copy within a maximum of 20 calendar days after the conclusion of the Festival.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Production company or distributor submitting works to the Festival guarantee that they hold all intellectual property rights to them and, where applicable, that they have obtained the necessary authorizations from the rights holders of the adapted works. They are also responsible for complying with current intellectual property regulations and ensuring that the works do not contain any content that infringes upon the rights of third parties. The Festival declines all legal responsibility for the content of the works submitted, with the person or entity submitting the work being solely responsible for said content.

3.2 The selected audiovisual works authorize the use of images and excerpts for inclusion in the Festival catalog and audiovisual archive, social media and in other media outlets for promotional purposes.

3.3 Production company or distributor of the selected works authorize the Festival to publicly screen their audiovisual work during the official dates of the Festival, without this implying exclusivity.

3.4 The organization will send the official Festival laurels to the selected works for inclusion in the opening credits of each copy screened after the Festival.

4. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Participation in the call for submissions entails full and unconditional acceptance of these rules and regulations. The interpretation of these rules and regulations shall fall exclusively within the competence of the Festival organization.
Any dispute shall be subject to Spanish law and the jurisdiction of the Spanish courts.
