Welcome to the Ankara International Movie Awards (AIMA), an international platform dedicated to discovering, celebrating, and empowering independent filmmakers from all around the globe. Based in the historic and culturally rich capital of Turkey, AIMA serves as a bridge between visionary directors and a passionate cinematic community.

Our mission is simple: to give a voice to stories that challenge, inspire, and redefine the boundaries of cinema. Whether you are an established filmmaker or a low-budget indie director capturing raw emotions, AIMA is your stage. We have a profound appreciation for psychological depth, gripping narratives, striking cinematography, and the timeless aesthetics of noir and surrealism.

AIMA operates as a hybrid festival. While our main evaluation process is conducted thoroughly by our international jury behind closed doors—protecting your film’s premiere status—we culminate each annual cycle with an exclusive live screening and network event in Ankara, celebrating the very best of indie cinema.

At the Ankara International Movie Awards (AIMA), we celebrate every aspect of filmmaking. Winners and Nominees from each category will receive high-quality Official Digital Certificates and Official Laurels to elevate their film poster, portfolio, and IMDb credit score.

Here are the official award categories for our monthly and annual selections:

Please read the following rules and terms carefully before submitting your project to the Ankara International Movie Awards (AIMA). By submitting, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

1. Submission Categories & Formats

All films must be submitted digitally via Festhome.

Films in languages other than English must have English subtitles.

There is no completion date restriction; we accept both recent films and older gems.

2. Fees & Refunds

Submission fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

Double submissions (submitting the same film to multiple categories) are allowed, but each category requires a separate entry fee.

3. Copyrights & Intellectual Property

The filmmaker/submitter guarantees that they hold all rights (including music, script, and actor clearances) for the submitted project.

AIMA is not liable for any copyright violations or legal disputes regarding the submitted content.

4. Judging & Selection

All submissions will be privately reviewed by our official jury.

The decision of the jury is final and cannot be contested.

AIMA reserves the right to disqualify any project containing hate speech, extreme violence without artistic context, or defamatory content.

5. Premiere Status & Screenings

We accept films with any premiere status (World, International, National, or Online).

Selected films for the annual live event will be notified in advance.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
