The Festival is held annually in April in San Sebastian. An appointment with quality cinema for all those sensitized to human rights.

Participating films will compete for the Audience Award to the Best Feature Film

Short Films:

• The Youth Jury Prize for Best Short Film is worth €3,000 (taxes included)

FEATURE FILM COMPETITION RULES
15th Human Rights Film Festival
March, 31st - April, 7th / 2017

These terms & conditions regulate the submission of feature films and their participation in the Official Competition at the “15th SAN SEBASTIAN HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL”.

By submitting a feature film to the FESTIVAL using any of the channels established for this purpose, the natural or legal person doing so (hereinafter the “PRESENTING PARTY”) expressly and unreservedly accepts these TERMS & CONDITIONS.

Further, on submitting the feature film to the FESTIVAL, the PRESENTING PARTY states that they hold sufficient rights of exploitation according to the stipulations of current Copyright law, and that they therefore have the authority to (I) submit the feature film to the FESTIVAL; and (II) extend to third parties the necessary authorisation for its reproduction, public communication, transformation, dubbing and/or subtitling, and to exploit it in any other way.

The PRESENTING PARTY shall therefore be accountable for potential complaints made as regards Intellectual Property by third parties, and shall hold harmless the FESTIVAL against any such claims made for this reason.


ACCEPTANCE FOR THE COMPETITION

The feature films in the competition will be decided by a Selection Committee. In order to be considered for the selection, the films submitted must:

• Have been made after January 1st 2015
• Film length should be over 30 minutes
• Be on the subject of Human Rights

The submission period is opened from November 7th to January 15th (2017).


AWARD

Participating films will compete for the Audience Award to the Best Feature Film


AUTHORISATIONS

On submitting it to the FESTIVAL, the PRESENTING PARTY of any feature film accepted for its competition expressly authorises the FESTIVAL to:

• Reproduce, view and screen the feature film in sessions open to the public as many times as is necessary during its participation in the FESTIVAL.

• Adapt the feature film to the necessary formats for its viewing and screening during the FESTIVAL.

• Subtitle the feature film in languages other than the original.

• Use images and/or excerpts of the feature film for their inclusion in press files, information posters and/or the official website of the FESTIVAL with a view to promoting the FESTIVAL itself.

Said authorisation is a necessary requirement for assured participation of the feature film in the FESTIVAL; also, the PRESENTING PARTY will receive no economic payment whatsoever for said participation.


DATA PROTECTION

In accordance with the stipulations of Organic Law 15/1999, dated 13 December, on the Protection of Personal Data (hereinafter, the “LOPD”), the PRESENTING PARTY is informed that all information provided when submitting the feature film to the FESTIVAL, and all other information provided henceforth in relation to the participation of said feature film in the FESTIVAL, will be incorporated to a file owned by the Public Body DONOSTIA KULTURA, duly registered with the Basque Data Protection Agency, for the purposes of managing and advertising participation of the feature film in the FESTIVAL.
It is mandatory to provide said personal details and failure to do so or providing incorrect information will make it impossible to manage participation of the feature film in the FESTIVAL.
Any changes to the personal data provided shall be communicated to the person responsible for the file by the owner of the information, who will be held responsible for the truthfulness and exactness of the information provided. In the event of providing data for third parties, the PRESENTING PARTY states that they have received consent from their owners to communicate said information.

In the event of wishing to exercise their right to access, rectify, cancel or oppose information, the PRESENTING PARTY and/or any other interested party can write, according to the terms & conditions of the LOPD, to the following address: DONOSTIA KULTURA, Plaza de la Constitución, nº1, 20003 – Donostia / San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa).


LANGUAGE, APPLICABLE LAW AND JURISDICTION

These TERMS & CONDITIONS are originally written in Spanish and may be translated into other languages. In the event of any contradiction in said translations, the Spanish language version shall prevail.

These TERMS & CONDITIONS will be governed and interpreted according to Spanish Law. Any controversies that may arise with regard to these TERMS & CONDITIONS, their interpretation and application will be exclusively settled by the Courts of San Sebastian (Gipuzkoa). The PRESENTING PARTY expressly accepts this condition.

SHORT FILM COMPETITION RULES

15th Human Rights Film Festival
March, 31st - April, 7th / 2017

These terms & conditions regulate the submission of short films and their participation in the International short film competition at the “15th SAN SEBASTIAN HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL”.

• Participating short films will compete for the Youth Jury Prize for the Best Short Film
• The Youth Jury will consist of youngsters between the ages of 18 and 30
• The Youth Jury Prize for Best Short Film is worth €3,000 (taxes included)
• The prize money shall be paid out after the Festival and in full to the production company responsible for the short film
