FilmeTrad – International Festival of Traditions Cinema is a film festival dedicated to audiovisual works that explore traditions, cultural heritage and ways of life from different parts of the world.

The festival takes place in Villaviciosa (Asturias, Spain), a territory with a strong rural identity and a rich cultural heritage. FilmeTrad aims to create a meeting point between cinema, territory and community, using audiovisual storytelling as a way to reflect on cultural traditions and collective memory.

FilmeTrad welcomes documentary, fiction and short films that connect with the spirit of the festival and offer meaningful perspectives on cultural identity, traditions and communities.

FilmeTrad Award – Best Film
Awarded to the film that best reflects the spirit of the festival and offers an outstanding audiovisual approach to traditions, cultural heritage or community life.

FilmeTrad – International Festival of Traditions Cinema
1. Festival Overview

FilmeTrad – International Festival of Traditions Cinema is a film festival dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of audiovisual works that explore traditions, cultural heritage, identity, collective memory and ways of life linked to communities and territories around the world.

The festival takes place in Villaviciosa (Asturias, Spain) and aims to create a meeting point between cinema, culture and community, promoting works that reflect on traditions and cultural diversity.

2. Sections and Categories

The festival includes the following categories:

Documentary

Fiction

Short Film

Audiovisual works that address traditions, cultural heritage, communities, collective memory or ways of life from any narrative or artistic perspective are eligible for submission.

3. Duration

The following duration criteria apply:

Films with a running time of 45 minutes or more will be considered feature films.

Films with a running time of up to 30 minutes will be considered short films.

Films with a duration between 30 and 45 minutes may be accepted at the discretion of the festival organizers.

4. Eligibility Requirements

Submitted works must comply with the following conditions:

Films may originate from any country.

Films may be in any language.

Films whose original language is not Spanish or Asturian must include Spanish or Asturian subtitles.

Series, web series or episodes from television or web series will not be accepted.

The festival reserves the right to establish programming criteria depending on the characteristics of the submitted works.

5. Submission Process

All films must be submitted through the Festhome platform within the deadlines established by the festival.

Submitting a film implies full acceptance of these rules and regulations.

The person or entity submitting the film declares that they hold the necessary rights for the film to participate in the festival.

6. Selection Process

All submitted works will be reviewed by the festival programming team.

The festival organization holds exclusive authority regarding the selection of films. The decision of the selection committee is final.

Filmmakers whose works are selected will be notified by the festival organization.

7. Screening Conditions

The holders of the rights of the selected films authorize their screening as part of the official festival program.

Participation in the festival does not imply the payment of screening fees or any financial compensation, as the first edition of the festival is organized as a non-profit cultural initiative.

8. Awards

The festival will grant the FilmeTrad Award to the films selected as outstanding within the festival program.

The award will consist of a handcrafted trophy created by a local artisan from Villaviciosa, symbolizing the connection between cinema, culture and traditional craftsmanship.

The festival organization may grant additional mentions or recognitions if deemed appropriate.

9. Acceptance of the Rules

Submitting a film to the festival implies full acceptance of these rules and regulations.

The festival organization reserves the right to resolve any circumstances not covered by these rules.
