The Film Festival of Calzada de Calatrava opens its submission period to present films in the “Made in Castile-La Mancha” category.
The official short film section of the competition “Made in Castile-La Mancha” (short films which must meet at least one of the following requirements: short films made by filmmakers from or resident in Castile-La Mancha; short films that have been filmed at locations in Castile-La Mancha; short films with distributers or producers with a legal address or registered office in Castile-La Mancha)
The official short film section competition shortlisted by Corto España – Fugaz Prizes. National short films in which genre, techniques and themes of the competition are open.
International Exhibition of Film in which four films will be screened, after their selection by the organisation, from the winners of the main film festivals of the world: Cannes, Berlin, Venice, New York, Toronto, San Sebastian, Malaga, Seville, Seminci.
Related Activities: Exhibitions, Workshops, Conferences, Special Sections, Gastronomy Competitions, Film Routes, Cinema Music.

PARTICIPATION RULES
The Calzada de Calatrava local council, the Department of Culture, the Universidad Popular announce the 13th Short Film Competition of Calzada de Calatrava “Made in Castile-La Mancha” on the Pedro Almódovar Cinematographic Route.
Festival dates: the festival will be held from the 1st to the 11th of October 2026.
I.- AIM
The main aim of the 13th Short Film Competition is to promote short films as a mode of audio-visual expression and contribute to their recognition and promotion. And furthermore to give visibility and promote films made in Castile-La Mancha and/or made by filmmakers from the region. This will be possible via the official section ''Hecho en Castila La Mancha'' (Made in Castile-La Mancha).
II.-CONDITIONS
GENERALES
The short films submitted to this category must meet at least one of the following requirements:
1. Short films made by filmmakers from Castile-La Mancha.
Please attach a digital copy of your national ID card as proof.
2. Filmmakers who are residents in Castile-La Mancha.
Please attach a digital copy of your national ID card and legal registration certificate issued in the last 6 months (empadronamiento) as proof.
3. Short films that have been made in Castile-La Mancha.
Please attach a digital copy of the legal address or registered office of the production company as proof.
4. Short films that have been filmed at locations in Castile-La Mancha.
The exact location of filming must be appropriately identified and credit given. This organisation may, if necessary, ask for supporting documentation.
LENGTH: the film must not exceed 15 minutes, including the credits.
DATE OF PRODUCTION: the film must have been made or produced after 1st January 2025.
The film must not have been released commercially in public spaces, on DVD , video or on Spanish television. The film must not have been submitted to previous editions of this festival.
GENRE AND THEMES: the genre, techniques and themes of the competition are open.
LANGUAGE: the short films can be in any language, but if they are not in Spanish then it is essential that they are subtitled in Spanish.
III.- PLATFORMS/DEADLINE/DOCUMENTATION TO BE SUBMITTED

Direct deliveries to the festival or download links will not be accepted.

The submission deadline is 30th JUNE 2026.

IV.- SHORTLISTED AND WINNING FILMS
• The panel will select which films reach the final phase of the competition, these films may be eligible for the Judges´ prize or the People´s Choice Award stipulated in these rules. Their decision will be final.
• Once the selection process has finished, the participants will be informed by telephone or e-mail on or after 1st September 2026. The results will also be published on the festival website: www.festivaldecinedecalzada.es; and on the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/FestivalDeCinedeCalzada/; and it will be made public on various communication media.
• Once a film has been shortlisted by the festival, it cannot be withdrawn.
• The shortlisted films must be available for download on the platform in the format of MP4 – Códec H264 – Resolution: full HD.
Preferably the filmmakers would send a copy in DCP to the directive team of the festival, whose details at the end of these rules.
• The projection files must be sent without ''flies'' and if the film has been recorded in a language other than Spanish, it must be subtitled in Spanish or have an SRT file attached.
Short films in Spanish have the option to send their projection files with English subtitles. (this is not compulsory)
• The Festival Organisation Committee may decide to screen, outside of the competition, films that they consider to be of interest. This selection does not carry any financial award or prize.
V.- PANEL OF JUDGES
• The Festival Organisation will appoint members of the panel, whose decisions will be final.
• People with interests in the production, distribution or any other type of operation or participation in the submitted films cannot sit on the panel.
• The panel may give, as well as the official prize, a special mention.
• Prizes may not be declared void. Prizes that involve an economic award may not be awarded ex aequo.
• Members of the panel may not publicly express their opinions of the winning films until they have been officially announced by the festival.

PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY
The prize-giving will take place on the 11th of October 2026 at the closing ceremony of the Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival. This will be held at 19:00 in a designated venue.
The cash prizes will only be given if a representative of the awarded film attends the closing ceremony.
VII.- FILM REQUIREMENTS
1.-PROGRAMMING AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS
• The organisation reserves the right to show the shortlisted films at as many public screenings as it deems appropriate. It may also use all the film and photographic material submitted for promotional purposes or for any other non-profit social or cultural activity. In this respect, the producers will relinquish the rights for public screenings of their films, at no cost to the organisation for this festival and future festivals.
• With the prior consent of the filmmakers for the screenings of the shortlisted films, producers will relinquish the rights for public screenings of their films, at no cost to the organisation of the festival.
2.- PROJECTION FORMATS
Preferably, short films will be projected in DCP, however, filmmakers must enable the download of a copy in MP4 Códec H264 Full HD, according to section IV of these rules.
3.-PUBLICITY AND IMAGE RIGHTS
Short films that have been awarded prizes must include the festival's award in their credits and in subsequent public screenings and on any viewing platform. This will be stated in the document of receipt of the prizes given by the festival.
4.-ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
The submission of a film for the 13th edition of the Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival implies the full acceptance of and compliance with these participation rules and possible annexes.
