The topic of the work will be the violence of gender, in any of its manifestations, its prevention and sensitization against it, being able to present documentaries and short films of plot fiction.

The jury will have special consideration for those works that address this issue by focusing on the youth world.

Cash Prizes: 11,000€

The following prizes are established:

• First prize: 3600 euros

• Second Prize: 2400 euros

• Best Female Director award: 2400 euros

• Special award to the best young provincial short: 1500 euros

• Jury's Special Award: 1800 euros. (*1)

• Canal sur Radio and television Award to the Andalusian audiovisual creation: consisting of trophy and in the channel South TV broadcast of the short winner in this category. (* 1)

(* 1) This award may only be chosen by producers, directors or groups of persons of 11.3 L.G.S., whose head-director is Andalusian. And it will be an indispensable requirement to be able to opt for this award that the person in charge of the group sign the transfer of the rights of emission of the prized short in any of the channels South Channel TV. The prizes will be subject to the corresponding legal withholdings and will be in each case for the direction of the short film.

For the justification of the cash prizes granted by this provincial administration, the awardee must subscribe a document prepared to the effect in which the following information will be specified: personal data of the awardee, the prize amount and the tax withholdings that are legally to be practiced.

The delivery of all prizes will be held in place and date to be determined.

XIII SHORT FILM FESTIVAL – JAÉN PROVINCIAL COUNCIL AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

1. Objective and Internal Processing:
The theme of the works must be gender-based violence, in any of its forms, as well as its prevention and awareness. Both documentaries and fiction short films of Spanish nationality may be submitted.

2. Participants and Modalities:
All producers and directors who hold the legal rights to the submitted works may participate.

Works may be submitted individually or as a group. Eligible films must have been shot after 2024. In the case of groups without legal personality, Article 11.3 of the General Subsidies Law shall apply, and the commitments assumed by each group member must be clearly stated in the application form.

Submitted works must not exceed 30 minutes in length.

Films must be presented in their original language. If the language is not Spanish (Castilian), Spanish subtitles must be included.

Participants under 18 years of age at the submission deadline must include parental or guardian permission (Annex III).

Persons involved with the jury or their close relatives (up to second degree) or anyone with a legal conflict of interest may not participate.

Participants are solely responsible for any infringement of intellectual property rights, as regulated by Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996 of April 12.

3. Submission of Works and Deadlines:
Interested parties must submit their films, registration form, and required documentation from the day after the publication of the call in the Official Bulletin of Jaén (BOP) until September 16, 2025, inclusive, via the following methods:

• Through the Festhome platform, filling out the platform’s registration form and complying with accepted video formats.

• Electronically, via the online portal of the Provincial Council of Jaén: https://sede.dipuJaén.es, attaching the required documents and registration form. Once the documents are submitted, the film must be sent using a file-sharing service in mp4 format or another format agreed upon with the festival organizers. The final deadline is September 16, 2025.

Required documents:

A copy of the author’s or authors’ ID (DNI)

A brief dossier including technical and artistic crew info, technical sheet, synopsis, and director's biofilmography

The poster of the short film

Selected works must submit the following within 10 days after notification of selection via the Provincial Council’s general registry:

Annex I – Registration form, fully completed. If the project wins a prize, the award will be granted to the entity listed under “Award Concession”, except in the case of Best Female Director, which will go directly to the woman who directed the film.

Annex II – Declaration of Responsibility, fully completed.

The personal data requested is required for participation and will be treated confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection laws, for the purposes of managing registration and festival participation, as well as statistical analysis.

4. Correction of Submissions:
If a submission is incomplete or contains errors, the applicant will be given 10 working days to correct it. Failure to do so will be considered a withdrawal from the call. The administration may also request additional documents at any time.

Special Prize for Best “Jaénicano” Short Film: €1,500 (*1)

Special Jury Prize: €1,800 (*2)

Canal Sur Radio and Television Award for Andalusian Audiovisual Creation: Trophy + TV broadcast on Canal Sur TV (*3)

(*1) Best “Jaénicano” Short Film: For a filmmaker, collective, or production company from Jaén, created by individuals up to 35 years old. This award is compatible with others.
(*2) Special Jury Prize: For the short film whose message best aligns with the festival's goals.
(*3) Canal Sur Award: Only for Andalusian filmmakers/producers; requires signing a broadcast rights agreement. Full rules at www.canalsur.es

Awards will be granted to the producer or director with the rights, as indicated in Annex I. Best Female Director will go directly to the woman director.

Prize amounts are gross and subject to applicable taxes (IRPF or VAT) depending on the beneficiary's professional status. Individuals must issue a receipt. Professionals/entities must issue an invoice per current tax law.

To justify cash prizes, recipients must sign Annex IV, stating personal data, prize amount, and legal deductions.

Award ceremonies will be held at a date and venue to be determined.

7. Compatibility:
Prizes are compatible with other grants or funding from public/private, national or international entities.

8. Jury:
A Selection Committee made up of gender and film professionals will determine the Official Section films.

A Jury, chaired by the Deputy for Equality and Youth, will grant the awards. Jury members will be appointed by resolution and may include:

Cinema/cultural professionals

Gender experts

A Canal Sur RTV representative

A staff member from the Equality, Social Policies and Youth area (as needed)

A secretary (non-voting civil servant)

If no short films from Jaén are selected, the selection committee may decide the Best Jaénicano Short Film.

Jury decisions will follow Chapter II, Title I of Law 40/2015 on Public Sector Legal Regime.

The jury’s decision is final and may declare any category void. The ruling will be made within one month after the correction deadline and published on www.dipuJaén.es and the official notice board. Awards will be granted within 10 working days and published in the National Subsidies Database (BDNS) and the Provincial Transparency Portal.

9. Purpose of Submitted Works:
The festival reserves the right to publicly screen selected works during the event, at dates and venues to be determined in the official program. Other submitted works may also be screened in informational sessions.

All short films screened in the Official Section will appear in the Festival Catalogue.

Participants authorize the use of film fragments for promotional purposes in media outlets and accept public exhibition and archival use for non-commercial awareness campaigns in Jaén.

All submitted materials will be retained by the Equality, Youth and Social Policies Department of the Provincial Council of Jaén.

Short films in competition may be eligible for the Premios Carmen (Andalusian Film Academy) and the Goya Awards (Spain) if they meet the respective regulations.

Broadcasting rights will be governed by the Provincial Council’s budgetary rules.
