The Mostra Cinepoesia 2026 is a film event that promotes dialogue between cinema and poetry through the screening of experimental short films, video art, or video poetry created by authors, poets, filmmakers, directors, or artists.

The event plans to select approximately 15 original works for screening—whether previously released or not—including those submitted by applicants or invited participants, as well as works from the festival’s collection.

The presence of poetic language is essential in the selected audiovisual works, whether narrated, spoken, sung, or written.

We seek new possibilities for poetic cinema that draws on linguistic experimentation and the synergy between images, sounds, and words.

Our 2026 tribute goes to Elisa Lucinda. We highlight her multidisciplinary career as a Brazilian actress, poet, writer, and singer, as well as her legacy as a champion of poetic power.

For the 2026 edition, the Mostra Cinepoesia has confirmed the following dates:

July 20—Registration begins > Call for Entries opens.

September 10—Registration closes.

September 15—List of Selected Works.

October 21—Premiere of the in-person screening at the MAM Cinematheque in Rio de Janeiro.

October 21—Premiere of the screening and opening of the People’s Jury at the MAM Rio Cinematheque online.

October 24—Announcement of the work with the most votes from the People’s Jury.

A plaque/trophy for the video poetry that receives the most votes from the popular jury in the online voting.

Submitted audiovisual works must be at least 1 minute and no longer than 8 minutes in length, and must be submitted in digital format
(FULL HD 1920x1080) as an H.264 file.

We require that Portuguese subtitleS be embedded in the video for all works, whether in other languages or in Portuguese (we emphasize that in expanded cinema screenings, the presence of subtitles enhances the viewer’s engagement with
the work).

The event organizers will not be held responsible for submissions with incorrect subtitles or translations, or that do not
match the original audio.

Works that include hate speech, prejudice, racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, child abuse, or animal abuse will not be accepted.

When submitting an audiovisual work, the directors and responsible parties guarantee that no minors will appear on screen without
parental consent.

The creative team listed in the credits shall respectively claim authorship of the texts, images, and soundtrack included in the audiovisual work.

Regarding attribution for content produced by generative AI, we suggest a clear and conscious approach, with the relevant information included in the credits. We prioritize works in which such attribution does not go beyond the creation achieved without the use of AI.

The director or author responsible for the work declares that they are 18 years of age or
older, assumes responsibility for the terms of the assignment of copyright for the work, and does not infringe on the copyrights of third parties; acknowledges and guarantees that they have obtained all necessary permissions for the use of the images and voices of those appearing in the work; possesses the right to use the images, photos, poems, texts, songs, and soundtrack included in the work; and permits the
screening of their work (in whole or in part) at the screening and promotional events for the Mostra Cinepoesia 2026.

The Cinepoesia Festival is not responsible for any copyright infringement committed by the creative teams behind the submitted works, whether they are by registered participants, invited guests, or part of the festival’s collection; any legal claims will be directed to and addressed by the authors and directors of the works screened as part of the Festival.

The selected audiovisual works will be made available for screenings, publicity, events, and media promotion organized by the Cinepoesia 2026 Festival.

We ask that the selected audiovisual works that are available online be set to "OFF" or "UNLISTED" during the Festival period.

The SELECTED works that were submitted and those by invited artists will be included in the
PROPOSED PUBLIC JURY; works from the collection will not be included in the voting.

After the individuals responsible for the
SELECTED works are notified by email, they have 5 days to return the following requested materials to the email address provided:

- Information about the work: 1 poster, 2 still frames or photos, the credits page listing the production team, photo(s) and a short biography of the director and the poet (300 characters), and the synopsis (300 characters).
- Video file in H.264 format, in high-definition FULL HD 1920x1080, with Portuguese subtitles embedded in the video.

If the person responsible for submitting the selected audiovisual work does not respond within 5 days of receiving the notification via e-mail sent by the Festival, the work will be disqualified and a spot will automatically open up for the next entry on the list.

THE deadline FOR SUBMISSIONS is September 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., Brazil time.
