Cardós Film Fest (1)

We envisage to hold the Cardós Film Fest, Mythological Film and Literature Festival of the Pyrenees from the 26 to the 28 of September 2025.

The Festival organizers (The Council of the Vall de Cardós together the Cultural, Civic and Sports Association of Valls de Cardós), are announcing the 2025 short film competition with the following TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Cash Prizes: 1,600€

• Award and 800Euros to the best short film.

• Award and 400Euros to the best production of the Pyrenees.

• Award and 200Euros to the short film with in-depths research and investigative work

• Award and 200Euros, to the best short film of under 35 years of age.

• Prize publics choice. Award and gift.

1.The Festival will take place in Ribera de Cardós, municipality of Vall de Cardós, Pallars Sobirà, from the 26 to the 28 of September 2025, and will have its nerve centre in La Boïga, socio cultural place, with complementary activities around the town.

2. The heart of the Festival will be the short film competition, covering all genres (fiction, animation, documentary) and focusing on mythological and folkloric themes. Folklore refers to the set of traditions, customs, beliefs, myths, legends, music, dances, crafts and cultural expressions that are characteristic of a social group, community or region. These cultural manifestations are transmitted from generation to generation, often orally, and reflect the identity and history of a people. Folklore can include elements such as folk tales, festivals, rituals and artistic practices, and is a fundamental part of a society's cultural heritage. This event has an international reach.

3.Anyone can participate be it an individual or a group. There is no age limit. The submission has to be up to 30’ short film in HD. The films must have been made after the 1 of January 2023, and not selected in the Festival of the Vall de Cardós in 2024.

4.Each participant can submit a maximum of two works. These can be in any language or dialect. If they are not in Catalan or Spanish, they will need to include subtitles in any of these two languages.

5.The priority in terms of selection will be the high quality and originality of the work. In addition, it is required that the works have not been shown commercially.

6.Categories and prizes:

• Award and 800Euros to the best short film.

• Award and 400Euros to the best production of the Pyrenees.

• Award and 200Euros to the short film with in-depths research and investigative work

• Award and 200Euros, to the best short film of under 35 years of age.

• Prize publics choice. Award and gift.

7.The films have to be submitted through the
platform www.festhome.com

The works will be registered when submitted through the Festhome link, this must be done no later than the 30 of June 2025.

All participants have to ensure that the password for YouTube, Vimeo or others, does not change or expire until de end of the Festival.

Registration is free.

8.The final submission day for the works will be the 30 of June 2025. Any submission after this date will not be accepted.

9.The organizing committee will make a first selection of the works submitted. The selection results will be communicated to the relevant participants before 15 of august 2025.

10.Works of an advertising or touristic flavour will not be accepted, as well as those works which contain non original material in more than 10% of its totality. Works of poor technical quality that make viewing difficult will also not be accepted, as well as those works where artificial intelligence has been used to create them.

11.The Official selection will be announced on the Festival web page after the 1 of September 2025. The committee reserves the right to use some images of the selected works to promote the Festival.

12.The winners will be publicly announced at the Festivals closing ceremony and afterwards on the organizers web pages and other media.

13.The works submitted will become part of the Festival and of the organizing entities collection as a means of reference and study, within the scope of the Festivals framework, the organizers will have the right to reproduce the works for a period of one year from the date of the end of the Festival, these activities will be carried out for non-profit and solely for the purpose of promoting the productions and the Festival. All projections will always be communicated to the owners of the works. Screening moneys will not be paid.

14.Before the 1 September 2025 you need to send to this email concurscardosfilmfest@gmail.com the following items:

•Technical and artistic details of the production

•Publicity material for promotion i.e.: photographs, trailers, press releases, posters in paper format etc.

•Projection archive in HD format, in the best possible quality and with subtitles included in Catalan or Spanish in the event of the works not being made in one of these two languages.

15.All postal expenses, in case of posting material, will be the senders responsibility. No works will be accepted if postage cost have not been paid by the sender.

16.The authors will have to ensure that the content of their works does not infringe copyright and/or other third parties rights and exonerates the organizing committee of any legal responsibility.

17.The selected works will become the OFFICIAL SELECTION, and will be exhibited to the public during the days of the duration of the Festival. It is understood that the authors of the works give permission to project them. Screening fees will not be paid.

18.The JUDGES, designated by the organizing committee, will be formed by Film and Culture professionals and will decide the awards of the Official selection. The Public choice Award will be decided by the people attending the Festival.

19.The Award to the best work about the Pyrenees will take into account the following three points:

•That the team of production or direction are from the Pyrenees

•That partially or totally had been filmed in the Pyrenees

•That they include some idioms or dialect from Pyrenees.

20.The Judges will be able to give awards EX AEQUO and a SPECIAL MENTION to aspects of technical and artistic proficiency of a work in the competition. Their decision will be final. All prizes will be awarded.

21.The Production entities accept that, in the event of winning an Award, they will include a written mention of the Award given at the beginning and in every one of the production copies distributed for exhibition, in commercial theatres and or audiovisual competitions, as well as, media and printed releases. The written mention will be the type of Award won, accompanied by the image of the list of winners provided by the organizing committee.

22.The closing ceremony and the awards will take place on Sunday 28 of September 2025.

23.Any issue arising concerning the event, during the Festival, that has not been covered in this document, will be sorted out by the organizing committee. It is understood that to participate in the Festival all participants accept these terms and conditions.
