XIII Edition Pávez Awards - Talavera de la Reina International Film Festival. From October 16 to 23, 2026.
GOYA, FORQUÉ, FUGAZ AND IBERSHORTS AWARDS QUALIFYING FESTIVAL.
- Short films of Spanish or Ibero-American production and/or direction.
- Short films produced from January 1, 2025.
- Spanish spoken language or original language with spanish subtitles.
- Maximum running time: 30 minutes with credits included.
- They may not be hosted on free viewing online platforms.
- 5 competitive sections: National (Official Section), International (Ibero-America), Local (Talavera de la Reina), Animation and Documentary.
- 18 categories opting for a prize.
- 5700 euros + 18 Pávez awards.
- Screening fee for selected films in all sections.
- DCP required for Official, International and Local Selection.

The Premios Pávez – Talavera de la Reina International Film Festival, organised by the cultural association Asociación Cultural Trax Trex Trix, aims to promote audiovisual culture through the support of short films and their creators, while encouraging the exploration of new audiovisual languages and cinematic narratives.
Through a diverse, innovative and inclusive programme, the festival promotes accessibility, film education and the development of a sustainable cultural environment.
DATES
The 13th edition of the Festival will take place from 16 to 24 October 2026 in Talavera de la Reina, Spain.
The full programme will be published on the festival website www.premiospavez.com and on the festival’s official social media channels. The programme will also be communicated sufficiently in advance to the representatives of the selected works.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
- Participation is open to individuals aged 18 or over of any nationality from the following Ibero-American countries: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Participation is also open to individuals officially registered as residents in any of these territories, as well as legal entities legally established in the aforementioned countries that hold the rights to the submitted short films.
- All films produced after 1 January 2025 are eligible.
- The maximum running time of the short films is 30 minutes, including credits.
- Both fiction and non-fiction (documentary) works are accepted, whether live action or animation.
- All films must include Spanish subtitles.
- Submitted short films must not be publicly available online on any platform intended for free public viewing.
- Films created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) must include a declaration specifying how AI was used in the production process.
- At least one representative of the artistic and/or technical team of each nominated short film must attend the closing ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, 24 October 2026.
- There are four submission categories indicating the origin of the films: National (Spain), International (Ibero-American), Regional (Castilla-La Mancha) and Local (Talavera de la Reina). There are five competitive sections in which films may participate: National Official Section, Talavera en Corto (Local Section), International Section (Ibero-America), Animation Section and Documentary Section. Films programmed in the National Official Section and AnimaDocu Section (Animation and Documentary) will be selected from submissions made in the National, Regional and Local categories.
- The festival also features several non-competitive showcase sections. Any submitted film may be considered for inclusion in these sections at the discretion of the Selection Committee. Films screened in these sections are not eligible for awards.

NATIONAL OFFICIAL SECTION
Short films must meet at least one of the following criteria:
The director is Spanish or officially resident in Spain
The film was shot in Spain
The production company has its registered address in Spain
INTERNATIONAL OFFICIAL SECTION
Short films must meet at least one of the following criteria:
The director is a national or resident of an Ibero-American country (Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Uruguay or Venezuela)
The film was shot in one of these countries
The production company has its registered address in one of the aforementioned countries
ANIMADOCU SECTION
Animation Category: Submitted films must be at least 75% animated.
Documentary Category: Short films whose subject matter focuses on non-fiction events or which are narrated using the visual and aesthetic language of documentary filmmaking.
TALAVERA EN CORTO – LOCAL SECTION
Short films must meet at least one of the following criteria:
The director was born in or is registered as a resident of Talavera de la Reina
The film was shot in Talavera de la Reina
The production company has its registered address in Talavera de la Reina

Additionally, short films wishing to participate exclusively in the Talavera en Corto (Local) section may be submitted free of charge through the official form available on the festival website.

TERMINOLOGY AND PROCESS
- Selected Films: Short films chosen by the Festival Selection Committee to be screened in either competitive or non-competitive sections.
- Nominated Films: Short films that, following evaluation by the jury, receive nominations and become eligible for awards at the closing ceremony.
Each category will have four nominated films..
- Winning Films: Selected by the respective juries.
Each category will have one winner.
FILM SELECTION
A Selection Committee, composed equally of members of the Premios Pávez organising team, will select the films for:
National Official Section
International Section (Ibero-America)
AnimaDocu Section (Animation and Documentary)
The committee is also responsible for programming the non-competitive showcase sections.
For the Local Section, and in order to promote filmmaking within the city, no prior selection will be made provided that the submitted films comply with the festival rules. However, the festival reserves the right to exclude works that do not meet the minimum quality standards for theatrical screening.
Should the total duration of submitted films exceed the available screening slots, a special selection committee composed of recognised cultural figures from Talavera de la Reina will be appointed.
The committee will view all submitted works and may reject films that do not meet the necessary technical standards for theatrical exhibition.
The committee will also give special consideration to:
Films holding an ICAA classification certificate
Festival premieres
Selected participants will be notified between July and August 2026 by email and/or telephone.
Selected films must provide the following promotional materials:

Three still images
Trailer
Synopsis
Technical information
Director’s biography and filmography
These materials will be used exclusively for promotional purposes.
SCREENING COPIES
Selected films must provide a .mov or .mp4 file in the highest possible quality, including spanish subtitles (embedded and separate file).
Films selected in the National Official Section, International Section and Talavera en Corto must also provide a DCP screening copy.
If available, the festival will also request accessible versions including audio description and special subtitles.
Participants will have 15 calendar days from the notification date to confirm participation and deliver the required materials. Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of the selection.
SCREENING FEES
All selected films screened in the festival, whether in competitive or non-competitive sections, will receive a screening fee of €50 as exhibition rights.
Payment will be made upon receipt of an invoice issued within 15 days of the selection notification, including: “Premios Pávez 2026 Exhibition Rights” + Title of the film + Bank account details.
Failure to submit the required documentation will be considered as granting the festival free exhibition rights.
The organisation assumes no responsibility for copyright payments or other rights clearance, which remain the responsibility of the submitting party.
AWARDS
The total value of the awards is €5,700 and 18 Pávez statuettes (each valued at €300).
All awards include monetary prizes and are subject to applicable tax deductions.
Payments will be made within 15 days after the closing ceremony, upon submission of the corresponding invoice.

QUALIFYING FESTIVAL STATUS
Premios Pávez is a qualifying festival for: Goya Awards (Best Fiction Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Animated Short Film), Forqué Awards, Fugaz Awards and Ibershorts Málaga Award.
JURIES
- Official Jury: Composed of recognised professionals from the Spanish audiovisual sector. Responsible for nominations and awards in the National Official Section.
- International Jury: Made up of cultural professionals with experience in Ibero-American cinema.
- Youth Jury: Comprised of young cinema enthusiasts who will evaluate films in the AnimaDocu Section.
- Local Jury: Cultural figures from Talavera de la Reina or Castilla-La Mancha who will award Best Local Film.
- CMM Jury: Professionals from Castilla-La Mancha Media who will determine the Best Castilla-La Mancha Film.
All jury decisions are final.
LEGAL TERMS
- El Materials received from selected films will become part of the archive of Asociación Cultural Trax Trex Trix.
- Participants guarantee that submitted works are free from legal claims and comply with intellectual property law.
- The festival reserves the right to screen selected films during the festival and to use images or promotional material for publicity purposes.
- Selected films may also be included in the Premios Pávez Circuit, a non-profit network of partner festivals and cultural organisations. The screening fee covers participation in this circuit.
- The festival may make part or all of the programme available online via a secure platform requiring prior registration.
- Submission implies full acceptance of these regulations and any decisions made by the festival organisers regarding matters not covered herein.
- The organisation reserves the right to modify these regulations if necessary, notifying participants of any changes.

2. Shortfilm shot in some of the one countries mencioned above.
3. Producer with registered office in some of countries mencioned above.
The maximum duration of the short films will be 30 minutes (30:00) with credits included.
Shortfilms registered in this section will only be eligible for the following award:
- BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM: Premio Pávez statuette + 500 euros economic prize.
