GOYA AWARDS QUALIFYING FESTIVAL.
- Short films of Spanish or Ibero-American production and/or direction.
- Short films produced from January 1, 2023.
- Spanish spoken language or original language with spanish subtitles.
- Maximum running time: 30 minutes with credits included.
- They may not be hosted on free viewing online platforms.
- 5 competitive sections: National (Official Section), International (Ibero-America), Local (Talavera de la Reina), Animation and Documentary.
- 18 categories opting for a prize.
- 5700 euros in awards + 18 Pávez
- DCP required for Official, International and Local Section.

OBJECT
The Pávez awards - Talavera de Reina International Film Festival, organized by the Trax Trex Trix Cultural Association, have as their mission the promotion of audiovisual culture, the promotion of the shortfilms and the discovery of new forms and cinematographic narratives through of an innovative, diverse and egalitarian programming.
Other major objectives of this festival is the promotion of cinematography through audiovisual literacy and accessibility, as well as the commitment to sustainable cultural production and consumption.
The XI Edition of the festival will be held in OCTOBER 2024, in Talavera de la Reina.
The full schedule will be available on our website and RRSS, and will be communicated well in advance to the representatives of the scheduled works.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
- Natural persons, legal age, of nationality or legal residents of any Ibero-American country may participate (Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela), and/or legal entities legally constituted in the aforementioned countries, owners of the short films they present.
- All works whose production date is after January 1, 2023 will be admitted to the contest.
- The maximum duration of the short films will not exceed thirty minutes (30:00) with credits included.
- Works of fiction and non-fiction (documentary), live action or animation are admitted.
- All shorfilms must have spanish subtitles.
- The short films submitted to the contest may not be hosted on any Internet portal intended for free viewing.
- At the closing ceremony of the Festival, which will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, there must be representation of the technical and/or artistic team of the short films that are competing for the award, in any of its categories.
-There are five competition sections in which films can participate: Official Section (Spain), Talavera Short Section (Local), International Section (Ibero america), Animation Section and Documentary Section. The short films programmed in the Official Section and the AnimaDocu Section (Animation and Documentary) will be selected among those registered for National, Regional and Local.
- Likewise, the participants are informed of the existence of NON-COMPETITIVE sample sections. Any short film registered in any of the festival sections can become part of the non-competitive sample selection if so considered by the Selection Committee. These short films are not eligible for an award.
- Each work may be registered in several categories, as long as it meets the general and specific conditions of each one of them.
- The selected participants must send promotional material about their short films (3 frames, trailer, synopsis, technical sheet and biofilmography of the director), when the festival organization so requests. The purposes of use of said material will be
exclusively advertising.
- The exhibition copies of all the selected works will be sent in .mov or .mp4 in the professional quality.
In addition, for the works selected in the Official, International and Local sections, a copy will be required in DCP.
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
1. OFFICIAL SECTION: The short film must meet at least one of these conditions: Director natural or registered in Spain, short filmed in Spain, and/or producer with tax address in the country.
2. INTERNATIONAL SECTION: The short film must meet at least one of these conditions: Director/a natural or registered in Ibero-American countries (Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela), short film shot and/or production company with tax address in one of the aforementioned countries.
3. ANIMATED SECTION. ANIMATION CATEGORY: The registered short films must be made completely in animation, and DOCUMENTARY CATEGORY.
4. LOCAL. The short film must meet at least one of these conditions: Filmmaker, natural or registered in Talavera de la Reina, short filmed in Talavera de la Reina, and/or producer with tax address in the town.

*In the case of local short films that wish to register in the Talavera en corto (Local) section and in order to promote the creation of films made in our city, the works may be sent to the festival email address enabled for this purpose: local@premiospavez.com, attaching along with the work: technical sheet and synopsis of the short film (whose model can be downloaded from the festival website), poster, three stills and contact form.

TWO REGISTRATION PERIODS are guaranteed:
STANDARD REGISTRATION PERIOD: Ending on May 31, 2024. REGISTRATION DURING
THIS PERIOD WILL HAVE A FEE OF €5.
LATE REGISTRATION PERIOD: Ending on June 16. REGISTRATION WILL HAVE A FEE OF €10.
The cost of sending material for selection is borne by the applicant.
MECHANICS
- Selected short films: short films that will be screened in one of the competitive or non-competitive sections of the festival.
- Nominated short films: those short films that, once evaluated by the corresponding jury, obtain this condition and the possibility of winning prizes at the closing ceremony of the Pávez awards.There will be four (4) nominees for each category of Official Section.
- Winning short films: arise from the decision of the jury corresponding to each section. There will be one (1) winner for each category.
SELECTION
A selection and viewing committee made up of the Pávez awards organization team will select the short films from the Official Section, International Section and AnimaDocu Section (Animation Category and Documentary Category), for subsequent evaluation by the jury. It will also be among its functions to program the no competitive sections.
In the case of the Local category, the selection committee in charge of it will be made up of well-known personalities from the city of Talavera de la Reina.
The selection committee undertakes to view all the works received. Likewise, this committee may reject any short film that does not meet the technical quality standards to be screened in the theater.
The selected participants will be notified by email and/or phone call between July and August 2024.
JURIES
- OFFICIAL SECTION: Professionals from the world of culture and audiovisual arts at a national level. This jury will choose the nominees and winners of each technical and artistic category (from among the short films that make up the Official Section). The nominees for each category (4 per category) will be notified as of September 2023.
- INTERNATIONAL SECTION: Well-known personalities related to the international cultural sphere of the representative countries and/or to the promotion of Ibero-American cinematography.
- LOCAL SECTION: Well-known personalities related to the cultural sphere of the Castilla-La Mancha Region or the town of Talavera de la Reina.
- ANIMADOCU SECTION (Animation and Documentary): Young people interested in cinematographic culture who will watch and value the short films of both categories.
The decisions of the selection committee and the jury are final. The jury reserves the right to declare a prize void if it deems it appropriate. awards AND CATEGORIES

Cash prizes are subject to withholdings determined by current legislation and will be paid after sending the corresponding invoice.
PRESELECTION FOR THE GOYA awards
The Pávez awards – Talavera de Reina International Film Festival are part of the list of qualifying festivals for the Goya awards in the categories of Best Fiction Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film and Best Animated Film.
The winner of the Best National Film award and Best Animated film will qualify for the next edition of the Goya awards.
LEGAL AGREEMENTS
- The material received from the short films that are finally selected will be archived in the association's audiovisual library.
- The participants are responsible that the short films presented are not subject to any legal claim and are within the provisions of the Intellectual Property Law. In any case, the festival organization declines all kinds of responsibility for the illegal content of the works received.
- The organization reserves the right to display the short films selected within the framework of the festival, as well as the use of said material for publicity and/or promotion of the event in any of its editions.
- Once the Festival is over, the selected works may become part of the Pávez awards CIRCUIT, which includes non-profit agreements signed with festivals and non-profit entities for the exhibition of the selected short films. The works will be screened with the consent of their authors and they will be informed sufficiently in advance of the exhibition sessions and conditions.
- The participants are informed that the Festival may be held in a hybrid manner. Therefore, the registration to the festival is conditioned to the acceptance of this condition. The short films will always be hosted on a secure platform and never open, with prior registration.
- All the participants fully accept these legal bases, as well as the resolution by the organization of any problem not included in them.
- The organization reserves the right to modify these bases if necessary. Any change introduced in them will be communicated to each and every participant.

- BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM: Premio Pávez statuette + 500 euros economic prize.
