Ojo de Pescado International Film Festival for Children and Youth is an annual event in Chile that gathers the most recent and exclusive film and TV contents from all over the world aimed at children and youth.

The Festival is organized by the CORPORACIÓN CULTURAL OJO DE PESCADO, an exploration and action platform that, through the exhibition of films and the promotion of audiovisual creation, it aims to help guarantee the right of children and young people to the integral education, and communication and expression of their opinions.


Competition Categories are:
- Short films for children.
- Television and/or web series for children.
- Feature films for children and teenagers.
- “Young Filmmakers” (short films made by children or young people)
The description of each category is in part 3 of this competition rules.

d) BEST CHILEAN FICTION SHORT FILM “JÓVENES CINEASTAS”
e) BEST CHILEAN ANIMATION SHORT FILM “JÓVENES CINEASTAS”
f) BEST CHILEAN NON-FICTION SHORT FILM “YOUNG CINEASTAS”
g) BEST LATIN AMERICAN SHORT FILM “JÓVENES CINEASTAS”

h) “CANON CHILE” PRIZE “YOUNG FILMMAKERS” CATEGORY
The Festival may add the mentions, recognitions and / or awards that it deems appropriate.

All winning categories receive a trophy.

The organization reserves the right to announce another prize in money and / or sponsors until the moment of the Official Selection 2021.

1- GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR THE REGISTRATION OF WORKS:

The works selected in other versions of the Festival can not participate in this competition. In the case of television or web series, selected or winning series may participate in previous versions of the Festival, but only if they apply with a new season.

Audiovisual works that the pre-selection jury considers that violate the Convention on the Rights of Children will not be selected.

The organization of the contest reserves the right to make the decisions that it deems pertinent for those cases not foreseen in these bases.

2- EXHIBITION RIGHTS:

The applicant, when registering the work in competition, ensures to have all the intellectual property rights of the work registered. The Festival is not responsible for legal actions taken by third parties.

The applicant whose work is part of the Official Selection of the 10th Ojo de Pescado Festival, in any of its categories, gives free the right to exhibit their works for the dates in which the 10th Festival will take place, previously indicated in the heading of these bases.

All Festival exhibitions will be free.

3- CATEGORIES IN COMPETENCE:

a) PROFESSIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETENCE FOR CHILDREN AND GIRLS

• SHORT FILMS FOR 3 TO 7 YEARS
Films of professional realization of Chile and the world, with duration less than or equal to 30 minutes, of genre fiction, animation or documentary, spoken or dubbed in Spanish or without dialogues and finished as of January 1, 2019.
The age of the target audience must be between 3 and 7 years of age.

• SHORT FILMS FOR 7 TO 11 YEARS
Films of professional realization of Chile and the world, with duration less than or equal to 30 minutes, fiction, animation or documentary genre, spoken in Spanish, subtitled or dubbed in Spanish or without dialogues and completed as of January 1, 2019.
The age of the target audience must be between 7 and 11 years of age.

b) PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF TELEVISION OR WEB SERIES FOR CHILDREN AND GIRLS

• TELEVISION OR WEB SERIES FOR 3 TO 7 YEARS
Series produced for television or any web platform, of professional realization of Chile and the world, with duration less than or equal to 20 minutes, fiction, animation or non-fiction genre, spoken or dubbed in Spanish or without dialogues and completed as of January 1, 2019
The age of the target audience must be between 3 and 7 years of age.
The inscription must be of only one chapter of the series.

• TELEVISION OR WEB SERIES FOR 7 TO 11 YEARS
Series produced for television or any web platform, of professional realization of Chile and the world, with duration less than or equal to 20 minutes, of genre of fiction, animation or nonfiction, spoken in Spanish, subtitled or dubbed in Spanish or without dialogues and Completed as of January 1, 2019.
The age of the target audience must be between 7 and 11 years of age.
The inscription must be of only one chapter of the series.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETITION OF FEATURE FILMS FOR BOYS, GIRLS AND TEENAGERS

Films of professional production from Chile and the world, with a duration of 60 minutes or more, of fiction, animation or documentary genre, spoken in Spanish, subtitled or dubbed in Spanish or without dialogue, finished as of January 1, 2019.
Exceptionally, versions in their original language may participate, as long as they have English subtitles.

The age of the target audience must be between 3 and 18 years old.

1- SELECTION CRITERIA:
From the point of view of the themes, the selection of works promoting coexistence, respect, caring for the environment, local culture, inclusion, acceptance of differences, identity, participation and opinion will be privileged. children, among others related to the pillars of education according to UNESCO, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
From the point of view of the narrative and audiovisual treatments, works that consider children as a participative and opinionated audience, that promote their integral development as people and that propose innovations in the way of bringing audiovisual contents to the public will be privileged. children public increasingly diverse and active.

2- SELECTION OF WORKS IN COMPETENCE:

The works registered for the competition will be submitted to a pre-selection process carried out by the Festival's programming and curator team.


The works that form part of the Official Selection 2021 accept that the Festival uses extracts of the material sent to pre-selection for promotion through audiovisual and web media.

The Festival does not pay for exhibition rights (fee) of the works that form part of the Official Selection 2021.

The exhibition copies must be digital files of one of the following options:

- MP4 / H264 at 10,000 kbps, resolution of 1920 x 1080 pxls. minimum, audio AAC 48KHZ 16 bit.
- Prores 422 or ProRes 422HQ, resolution of 1920 x 1080 pxls. minimum.
They must be sent through any file download platform (Wetransfer, Drive, Mega, Vimeo or other) and sent to email programacion@ojodepescado.cl
In the case of having subtitles, these must be embedded (on screen) or in .srt files

Along with the sending of the exhibition copy the participant must send, also to the email programacion@ojodepescado.cl, 3 photographs (still) representative of the work in .tiff 300dpi and, if it exists, a digital poster of the work.

The organization reserves the right to declare void any competing category that does not meet a reasonable minimum number of participants.
