PARTICIPATION RULES

The Town Council of Calzada de Calatrava, through the Department of Culture, the Universidad Popular and the Pedro Almodovar Film Cultural Association, organises the 8th Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival, in the Pedro Almodovar Film Route. It will take place from 6th to 21st of August 2021.

The Festival will be organised in person, as long as the health situation and the provisions established by the different administrations allow it.

In the event that the Festival cannot be held in person, the organisers reserve the right to do so online via the platforms provided, but will inform the filmmakers in due time so that they can authorise streaming screenings, if they so wish, for the duration of the Festival, a period of no more than three weeks.

1.- OBJECTIVE
The Festival's objective in its official feature film section is to promote national young filmmakers, with the aim of encouraging and adding value to current Spanish cinema and from there, in order to build bridges of communication and promote films made by young filmmakers, mainly from Latin America and Europe.

4.- SELECTION OF THE WORKS

o The works that will go on to the final phase of the contest will be selected by the members of the Jury and their decision will be final.
o Once the selection process has been completed, the Jury may establish a maximum of three nominations for each of the prizes set out in these rules. From these nominations, the Jury will decide and award the prizes in each category. The result will be communicated to the participants from 30 June 2021 by e-mail or telephone. It will also be published on the festival website www.festivaldecinedecalzada.es.

o Once a film has been selected by the Festival, it cannot be withdrawn.

o The selected works must send a DCP copy for screening and enable its download on the corresponding platform in MP4 format - Codec 264 - Resolution: HD as a backup copy, which will remain in the possession of the Festival for its film archive.

o The Festival Organising Committee may select, out of the contest, for the parallel section to be established, works that it considers to be of interest for their screening. However, the Festival organisers will request the relevant authorisation from the filmmakers for their screening.

o This selection does not carry any financial award or prize.


JURY

o The Jury will be made up of people linked to the Cinematographic field in its various fields and/or to the world of art and culture in its broadest sense.

o The Festival Organisation will appoint the members of the jury, whose decisions will be final.

o Persons with an interest in the production, distribution or any other type of exploitation or involvement with the films presented and selected for the contest may not form part of the jury.

o The Jury may award, together with the official prizes, special mentions for each of the prizes.

o prizes may not be declared void. prizes involving a financial award may not be awarded ex aequo. In the case of non-monetary prizes, the jury may award a prize ex aequo in the categories it considers appropriate.

o The Jury undertakes not to publicly express its views on the selection of films and the prizes awarded until such time as it is officially communicated by the Festival.


6.- prizes

o The economic amount of the prizes will be subject to the deductions determined by the legislation in force at the time of their payment by the Festival Organisation and will be understood, in any case, to be included in the economic allocation of the said prizes.

o The prizes may be sponsored by companies, public or private entities.

PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY

The awards ceremony will take place on the 21st of August 2021 at the closing gala of the Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival, which will be held at 8:30 pm at a venue that the organisers deem appropriate, taking into account any possible health regulations that may be in force.


7.- FILM REQUIREMENTS

• PROGRAMMING AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS

o The Organisation will agree on the date and order of screening of the films during the days of the Festival.

o The organisation reserves the right to show the selected films in as many public screenings as it deems appropriate. It may also use all the film and photographic material presented for promotional purposes or for any other non-profit social or cultural activity. In this respect, the production companies will cede the rights for the public screening of their films, at no cost to the Festival organisation.

o As for the works selected for the non-official section, with the prior consent of the filmmakers, the production companies will cede the rights for the public screening of their films, at no cost to the Festival organisation.

• PROJECTION FORMATS

o The selected films will be screened in DCP if the health situation allows for screenings in an enclosed venue with sufficient seating capacity. In the event that the screening takes place in an open space set up for the Festival, the films will be screened in MP4 Codec H264 Full HD.

• PUBLICITY AND IMAGE RIGHTS

o The selected feature films, as well as the awarded films, must include in their credits in successive public screenings and in any support the laureate of the 8th Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival. This will be stated in the document of reception of the prizes awarded by the Festival.

• SHIPPING CONDITIONS

o The payment of the shipping costs, originated by the sending from the place of dispatch of the copy of each selected film, as well as the promotional material of the work presented, will be paid by the distributors, production companies or the individual who has presented the film.

o The costs derived from the generation of the KDMs necessary for the screening of the DCPs as well as the management of new KDMs, if necessary, shall be borne by the Company or individual submitting the film.

o The projection copy in DCP should be sent to the address indicated at the end of these terms and conditions, the deadline for receipt being 10 July 2021.

o All copies of participating films must indicate the details for their return. These returns will be made within a maximum period of 20 days from the date of the end of the Festival and the Festival will be responsible for the payment of the transport costs arising from the return.

• ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

o Participants, by virtue of being participants, accept these rules and their annexes in their entirety, as well as the resolution by the Organisation of any aspect not included therein.

"VAMOS DE CORTOS".
PARTICIPATION RULES
The City Council of Calzada de Calatrava, through the Department of Culture, the Universidad Popular and the Pedro Almodóvar Film Cultural Association, announces the 8th Calzada de Calatrava International Short Film Contest within the framework of the 8th Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival.
Festival dates: The Festival will be held from the 6th to the 21st of August 2021.
THE COMPETITION IS OPEN TO: filmmakers of any nationality, with no age limit and with a maximum of two works in each category.


1.- OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this 8th International Short Film Contest is to promote the short film as a means of audiovisual expression, and to contribute to its recognition and dissemination, as well as to provide an opportunity for Spanish and foreign filmmakers to exhibit, disseminate and publicise their works.
To give visibility to and to promote films made in Castilla la Mancha and/or made by filmmakers from this region, through the official section "Made in Castilla la Mancha".

2.- CATEGORIES

CATEGORIES CONDITIONS
ANIMATION Animated short films of any nationality, free theme and technique.
DOCUMENTARIES Documentary short films of any nationality, free theme.
FICTION
"A time to laugh". The short films must be presented in a humorous tone and their form of expression must correspond to the characteristics of comic and/or comedy cinema. The theme is free.
"HIPPARCHIA". Fiction short films with themes related to gender violence, feminism and equality, as well as the achievements of women in the struggle for their rights.
"MADE IN CASTILLA LA MANCHA Short films made by filmmakers from Castilla la Mancha (Attach a digital copy of your ID card)
Filmmakers resident in Castilla la Mancha (Please attach a digital copy of your National Identity Card and census certificate).
Short films that have been produced in Castilla La Mancha (Attach a digital copy of the fiscal or social address of the production company).
Short films that have been made using locations in Castilla la Mancha (They will have to prove it).
Free subject matter. No documentaries.


3.- GENERAL CONDITIONS

GENERAL CONDITIONS
duration Maximum duration:
15 minutes credits included.
DATE OF PRODUCTION To be made or produced after the 1st of January 2019 and not have been commercially released in public cinemas, DVD, video or television in Spain and not have been presented in previous editions of this Festival.
REGISTRATION IN EACH CATEGORY Short films must be entered in the corresponding category provided by the Festival. In the event that a short film is entered in a category to which it does not belong, it may be moved to another category as long as it complies with the requirements of that category.
language Short films can be submitted in any language as long as the version of the contest is subtitled in Spanish.
This aspect is essential.

5.- SELECTION OF WORKS

o The works that will go on to the final phase of the contest will be selected by the members of the Jury. Their decision will be final.
o The Jury will establish a maximum of three nominations from among the works selected for the final contest phase in each of the categories, and from the nominated works, the Jury will decide on the award for the best short film in each of the categories set out in these rules.
o Once the selection and nomination process has been completed, the results will be communicated to the participants by email or telephone. It will also be published from the 30th of June 2021 on the Festival's website: www.festivaldecinedecalzada.es and on the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/FestivalDeCinedeCalzada/
o Once a film has been selected by the Festival for any of the established categories, it cannot be withdrawn.
o The selected works must be available for download on the platform used for their screening in MP4 format - Codec 264 - Resolution: HD.
o The projection files must be sent without "flies" and with subtitles in Spanish in the case of films shot in another language or by attaching the corresponding SRT file for their incorporation.
Short films presented in Spanish must send the projection files with english subtitles (not compulsory).
o In case of problems with the copies, the Festival organisers may ask the filmmakers for a new link for downloading.
o The Festival Organising Committee may select, out of the contest for the parallel sections, works which, due to their interest, it considers may be exhibited.
o This selection does not carry any financial award or prize.


6.- JURY

o The Festival Organisation will appoint the members of the Jury, whose decisions will be final.
o Persons with an interest in the production, distribution or any other type of exploitation or participation in the films selected for the contest may not form part of the Jury.
o The Jury may award, together with the official prizes, a special mention in each of the categories.
o prizes may not be declared void. prizes involving a financial award may not be awarded ex aequo.
o The members of the Jury undertake not to express publicly their opinions on the winning works until they have been officially announced by the Festival.

o Short films that have been awarded prizes must include the Festival's award in their credits in subsequent public screenings and in any medium. This will be stated in the document of reception of the prizes awarded by the Festival.

• ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

o The submission of a film to the 8th Edition of the Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival implies full acceptance and compliance with the present Rules of Participation and its possible annexes.
