Transterritorial Underground Film Festival – 22nd Edition (2026)

The Transterritorial Underground Film Festival is an annual, self-managed and decentralised event that, since 2005, has brought together venues and exhibition spaces in various cities across Latin America and other territories. Its identity is based on the free circulation of audiovisual works, formal experimentation, aesthetic research and the visibility of works that remain outside industrial or hegemonic circuits.

The festival receives and exhibits audiovisual productions of all kinds: unpublished, experimental, marginal, independent, community-based or simply outside the commercial logic of contemporary cinema. It is screened in unconventional, community, cultural and self-managed spaces, creating a trans-territorial network that operates as a social, political and emotional tool.

Thousands of works have passed through this network in its twenty-year history, transforming the relationship between filmmakers, programmers and viewers. The 22nd edition continues this quest, expanding the modes of exhibition and maintaining a programme connected with emerging languages, aesthetic risk and subjectivities expressed from the margins.

The selected works may be screened at any venue in the network, in satellite screenings or in subsequent travelling cycles, always in non-commercial contexts and with cultural, educational or community objectives.

The participating venues in 2025 included screenings in Tigre, Quilmes, Ituzaingó, Berazategui, Necochea, Pehuajó and CABA (Buenos Aires), Rio Cuarto (Córdoba), Rosario (Santa Fe) and Tucumán in Argentina; Pamplona and Medellín (Colombia), Punta del Diablo (Uruguay) and Berlin (Germany).

This festival is not competitive.

* All genres, lengths, formats and production methods are accepted.

* Priority will be given to experimental, independent, self-produced works with limited distribution or outside industrial circuits.

* For feature films, it is recommended to submit works made after January 2024 and not previously released in Buenos Aires (not exclusive).

2. subtitles

* Selected works without subtitles must send them to the festival in a timely manner.

* Some venues may offer optional translation or subtitling services (subject to availability).

3. Submission method

* Applications must be submitted via Festhome.com

* Submission of material implies full acceptance of these rules.

4. Selection

* Curation is carried out by programmers from the various festival venues, who operate autonomously and as a network.

* Curatorial teams may request additional materials if required for evaluation.

* The programming decision is final.

5. Exhibition and circulation

* Selected works may be screened at any official festival venue.

* They may also form part of travelling exhibitions, extended cycles or subsequent educational activities, always within a non-commercial framework.

* By applying, filmmakers authorise this cultural and community circulation.

* Submitted copies and selected materials will not be returned; they will become part of the festival's living, non-commercial archive, used for research, memory and training activities.

7. Rights and responsibilities

* Applicants must hold the exhibition rights or have the corresponding authorisations.

* The festival is not responsible for claims arising from third-party rights.

8. Fees, contributions and sustainability

* The festival is self-managed: it may include voluntary or suggested contributions to support its operation.

9. Contact

* For general enquiries: festival.underground@gmail.com

* Each venue may provide additional contact details.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
