This format must be essentially and basically a part of CINEMA.

The International Short Film Festival Contest "Ciudad de Soria" (Certamen Internacional de Cortos "Ciudad de Soria" - SOIFF) aims to promote short films as a mean towards audiovisual expression; by giving short films the recognition they deserve we contribute to acknowledge, spread and value short films as an essential way to pass on culture, using them as an educational advantage. We always put short films on the same level as CINEMA, in caps; because short films are essential and indispensable parts of CINEMA itself.
INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILMS CONTEST
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Applications for foreigner short film productions are open for this Contest.
The production date will be from 1th January of 2025, and it cannot have been presented in previous editions of the Soria International Short Film Festival.
2. All genres (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental), themes and original production formats are admitted.
3. Short films length will be 20 minutes tops.
4. Non Spanish spoken short films must be submitted along with a .srt Spanish subtitles file. Otherwise, the Selection Committee won’t be compelled to watch the short film.
5. The short films will be submitted by one person, organization or company who owns copyrights or with legal representative rights.
6. The selected short films will appear on the webpage and printed formats owned by the Festival and will be screened during public screenings within the Festival dates programmed. Screening dates will posted through the Festival program and webpage.
7. Film production companies or film distribution companies of the short films selected or awarded must include a written reference to the aforementioned selection or award at the beginning of every and each distributed copy. This written reference will be exhibit during the screenings in other film festivals, BlueRay, TV or video on demand platforms as well as in every printed information and promotional content (pressbook, posters, etc.). Such reference will be a text with the awarded selection or the award itself along with a corporate image (logotype and name) of the International Short Film Festival "Ciudad de Soria" Contest. This logotype and name will be provided by the Organization along with the usage regulations.
8. The short films submitted must not have been presented to previous Festival calls.
9. Verdicts from the Selection Committee and the Jury won’t be subject to appeal.
10. At the festival's discretion, accommodation + breakfast costs and a meal for up to two nights for two people for each selected short film will be covered.
AWARDED WORKS
1. All awards will be announced at the time of their delivery at the Closing Gala to be held on November 21, 2026.
2. The organization will be responsible for the travel expenses (from any part of the national territory to Soria), accommodation and subsistence of the winners (Max. two people) on the day of the awards ceremony.
If no person from the award-winning short film attends to collect the award or does not send a thank-you video, the prize money will be lost.
ONLINE SUBMISSION AND FEES
Submission deadline will be open from February 2026 until 15th of June 2026 and will be posted on the webpage of the contest as well as on social media platforms.
In order to participate on the 28th International Short Film Festival "Ciudad de Soria" Contest, short films must be submitted through the official Festival platforms:

The submission fees, paid by the contestants, are the following:
• It will be 3€ until the 20th of March;
• It will be 6€ from the 21th of March until the 31th of May;
• It will be 9€ during June.
The contestants will submit screening copies of their short films in original version with a Spanish subtitles file.
Besides the online submission, the contestants won’t have to send anything else, neither by emai, nor by mail.

SELECTED FILMS
1. A Selection Committee appointed by the Organization will be in charge of watching and choosing the shortfilms for each Festival Section. The resolution will be posted on our website and social media in mid-September 2026.
2. The Organization will notified the final resolution of the selected short films by email to the contact person to request all the needed material.
3. The screening copy of the selected short films must be sent in due time and form requested by the Organization. In any case, the submission will be online. Screening format will be digital, no matter what shooting system has been used. Technical requirements are the following:
Audio: Stereo AAC
Resolution: Full HD (1920×1080)
• Container: .mov / mepg 4 H264 o Apple ProRess 442

SYNOPSIS -
4. Screening copies of the selected short films will be sent in original version with Spanish subtitles.
5. The selected short films could be screened within any of the Festival Sections (such as Parallel Section or Official Section). In any case, the Festival Organization will let all of them know in which section their short films will be screened.
6. The Festival Organization will be allowrd to use pieces of the selected short films (one minute tops) in order to promote the short films and the Festival.
7. The authorization to screen the short films during the Festival by the filmmakers or the owners of the film rights it is implied after signing to participate. No further contractual obligations for the local government of Soria are implied towards the material or intelectual authors to the short films, nor any other collective management society.
8. By submitting the selected short films and by accepting the present terms and conditions, the filmmakers give up the rights to screen those short films (with cultural purposes only and not commercial purposes) along the next year and a half after the present Festival has been held. These screenings might take place in exceptional cases during special events or activities outside the Festival dates in order to promote the Festival.
In any case, these possible screenings will always be notified to the owner of the short film. The screenings will be open to public (non profit).
9. The Festival Organization will cover bed and breakfast plus one meal expenses of each contest’s selected short films (two people tops) per three nights to foreign short films, as long as their directors do not live within Spain.
WINNER SHORT FILMS
1. The awards disclosure will be on the 21th of November 2026 during the Closing Awards Ceremony.
2. For the Closing Awards Ceremony, the Festival Organization will be in charge of the travel expenses, up to a maximum of €150, (from any part of the Spanish national territory to Soria), accomodation and meals of the winners (two people tops).
If no person from the award-winning short film attends to collect the award or does not send a thank-you video, the prize money will be lost.
OFFICIAL AND PARALLEL SECTIONS AWARDS
The Official Jury, in charge of awarding the winning short films, will be form by cinematographic, cultural and communication professionals. The jury’s verdict won’t be subject to appeal.

All the prize awards will be under the tax restrictions decreed by the current legislation.
Any possible new awards not listed in the present terms and conditions will be advertised by the Festival through their website, a press release, etc.
Terms and conditions acceptance and data protection Law
By participating in this contest, the authors accept the present terms and conditions without reservation as well as the Festival Organization, Jury and Committee resolutions. Any unexpected issue will be solved by the Festival Organization.
The Festival Organization reserve the right to accept short films that do not fulfill some of the criteria aforementioned for exceptional cases.
The Festival Organization agrees and undertakes to process contestants’ personal data under the regulations of the 15/1999 Constitutional Law, Article 12, of the 13th of December for Personal Data Protection (LOPD by its acronym in Spanish).
