Festival start: 25 November 2025
Festival end: 29 November 2025
The Latin American Film Week will take place over five consecutive days, officially hosted at the San Martín Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in November.
During the event, special activities will accompany the screenings:
International forum on distribution and exhibition
Debate among Latin American film critics
Since 2017, we have been creating spaces for meeting and discussion, working hard on audience development. We believe it is important for our audience to have a good experience at each event and to leave with a desire to continue watching Latin American cinema.
The feature films, medium-length films and short films that win the audience award during the Buenos Aires Latin American Film Week will be presented in the Traveling Showcase.
6th WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
01. LOCATION AND DATE
The WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA will take place from November 25 to 29, 2025, in Buenos Aires.
02. OBJECTIVES
The WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA aims to promote quality content produced in Latin America, in order to support the dissemination of audiovisual artists from the region, prioritizing those whose auteur perspective reflects an authentic and committed vision of their environment, thus ensuring cultural enrichment, encounter, reflection, and entertainment.
03. SECTIONS
The WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA will feature different sections, with the selection of works being the responsibility of the organization.
- Latin American Feature Films: Open to Latin American feature films of any genre (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, musical) with a duration of more than 55 minutes. If the film is not spoken in Spanish, it must have subtitles in that language for its screening at the festival.
- Medium-length Films: Open to Latin American works of any genre (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, musical), with a minimum duration of 25 minutes (including titles) and a maximum of 54 minutes. If the medium-length film is not spoken in Spanish, it must have subtitles in that language for its screening at the festival.
- Latin American Short Films: Open to Latin American works of any genre (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, musical), with a maximum duration of 24 minutes (including titles). If the short film is not spoken in Spanish, it must have subtitles in that language for its screening at the festival.
- Other Latitudes: Open to non-Latin American feature films of any genre (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, musical), with a duration of more than 50 minutes. If the film is not spoken in Spanish, it must have subtitles in that language for its screening at the festival.
04. ADMISSION OF WORKS
The call is open to short and feature films of any nationality, completed between 2023 and 2025. Advertising work, journalistic reports, series, or nature/environmental documentaries with a television treatment will not be accepted. There are no restrictions on original language or theme. If the film is not spoken in Spanish, a subtitled copy in Spanish must be submitted for pre-selection. If selected, a screening copy with Spanish subtitles must be provided.
05. SUBMISSION OF WORKS
Registration for the WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA must be made by the producers or creators who hold the rights to the work being presented, and it is completely free for Argentine works. Interested parties must complete the required details in the online registration form and send a private viewing link.
The deadline for submissions is June 1. Registration can be done through the Festhome platform.
06. COPYRIGHT
The organization of the WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA assumes that the production companies, producers, or directors who register hold the exhibition rights of the works they present. In any case, the organization is exempt from any responsibility that may arise from the violation of these terms.
07. SELECTION
The results of the selection will be communicated to registrants on July 11, 2025. Once the mentioned date has passed without the selection results being expressly communicated to any of the interested parties, it will be understood that their work has not been selected and therefore will not be part of the program. The complete program of the WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA will also be available on the website www.cicloindependiente.com.ar.
Once a film is selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the program.
If a work is selected, the registrant must provide the event organization with a copy of the film in projection quality, spoken or subtitled in Spanish, a minimum of three high-quality digital images of the film, a synopsis, and a technical sheet of the work, which will be used for reproduction on the website and social media.
Additionally, they must provide the informational material that will be distributed to the media during the event. The registrant whose work is selected authorizes the event organization to disseminate the name, images, and information of the film, as well as its technical and artistic team, and authorizes the use of a maximum of three minutes of their film for audiovisual media and spots, as part of the programming of the WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA.
08. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
Registration implies the full acceptance of these terms by all participants. The organizers of the WEEK OF LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA may edit the rules and complementary provisions they deem appropriate for better execution. The interpretation of these terms, rules, and provisions will be the exclusive responsibility of the organizers.
