Festival start: 18 October 2024      Festival end: 20 October 2024

PLUM! is an international animated film festival that aims to
disseminate and promote the art of animation in its diversity of techniques, voices and stories through the exhibition of works by local artists and from the rest of the world.

We wish to generate a platform for independent animation with an emphasis on
those works that expand the visual, conceptual and narrative limits of animated cinema and, at the same time, build a meeting point to promote creativity, exchange and collaboration between artists and the general public.
The two main competitions, one for animated shorts produced in
Latin America and those from the rest of the world will complement each other
with the other activities organized by the PLUM! festival: retrospectives, special programs, activities for children and adolescents, workshops related to the production of animated content, discussion panels, exhibitions and installations, creation of video games and special screenings with the CineMóvil in other parts of the Calchaquíes Valleys, among others. We seek to give the festival an eco-sustainable profile,
diverse and inclusive and generate a close bond of respect, work and cooperation with the different communities that make up the Tafí Valley.

1.1 Natural or legal persons, of any nationality, individually or collectively, over 18 years of age, may participate by sending animation works that meet the requirements established in these bases and the technical standards that allow their future exhibition.

1.2 Participation in the competitions is free only for Argentina.

1.3 The call is open for works in all types of animation techniques, which have been completed as of January 1, 2022.

2. APPLICATION DATE

2.1 Applications for works for all categories in competition will be received from April 1, 2024 to September 15, 2024.

3. CATEGORIES IN COMPETITION

• International Animated Short Film Competition: Official Selection aimed at the exhibition of international short films. This category awards the Best International Animated Short Film Award.

4. REGISTRATION, SUBMISSION AND SELECTION OF WORKS

4.1 The process of registering works to participate in the preselection will be carried out through the application platforms (Festhome).

4.2 The works received to apply for the competitions will be subjected to a Pre-selection process carried out by the Festival Curatorial Committee. The decision of the curatorial committee is final.

4.3 The registration of a work in this call implies full acceptance of these rules. By submitting a work to be considered in any of the competing categories, the applicant declares to be the owner of all copyrights on the Work and/or to have the power to authorize the public communication of the work during the festival period in Argentine territory. .

The signatory of the application also declares that in the event that their project compromises, affects or includes the total or partial use of works protected by national or international legislation on Intellectual Property, and whose copyright holders are persons other than the applicant for the project, has the express authorization of said work given by the copyright holder, complying with the formalities indicated in these bases. Authorization is understood as the permission granted by the copyright holder in any contractual form, to use the work in some of the ways and by some of the means that intellectual property legislation establishes. The applicant is responsible for any infringement of said rights and is obliged to defend and hold harmless the Festival organization in claims presented by third parties for this purpose.

4.4 The Festival organization reserves the right to make the decisions it deems appropriate regarding situations not expressly provided for in these bases.

5.1 The jury will be made up of professionals in the field of animation, such as filmmakers, producers, cultural managers, journalists and members of national and international entities associated with the event.

5.2 People directly related to the works in competition in their category will be disqualified from being part of the jury.

5.3 The jury's decision is final.

6. OFFICIAL SELECTION

6.1 The Official Selection will be published on the website www.plumanimationfest.com and will be notified by email.

6.2 By applying for the selected works, you authorize the use of trailers or extracts of the work (provided by the representative of the selected works), to promote the Official Competition of the Festival.

6.3 The works that are part of the Official Selection will receive PLUM! Official Selection laurels.

6.4 The selected works will be notified by email, at which time instructions will be given regarding the formats, deadlines, place and method of sending the works selected for public exhibition during the days of the festival.

6.5 The delivery of the final material must be made within the stipulated deadlines, otherwise the work will be disqualified.

6.6 The final version, if it is in a language other than Spanish, must be sent along with its respective subtitles in Spanish (or, failing that, English). Subtitles must be delivered separately from the video: in text file or subtitle format (Ex: *.srt)

6.7 For selected filmmakers, the Festival will not cover travel and accommodation costs to attend the event. However, the Festival may provide letters of support to manage the necessary resources with the institutions that favor the attendance of those selected.

6.8 The festival will not pay for the exhibition right (screening fee) of the selected works. In turn, the Festival guarantees that all performances will have free entry for the public.

7 Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of these regulations. The Festival will resolve, at its discretion and without appeal, any eventuality not specified in these rules.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
