The Santo Domingo Global Film Festival (FCGSD), an initiative of the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (FUNGLODE), is a unique international experience in film festivals, with its nerve center in the Dominican capital, Santo Domingo. In this way, the inhabitants can watch great films and be part of the debates, through cinema, on social, political, and economic issues.
In 2017, the FCGSD received accreditation by the International Federation of Cinematographic Producers Associations (FIAPF) as a SPECIALIZED COMPETITIVE FESTIVAL in Opera Prima.
The awarding of the award certificates will take place on the closing night of this edition of the (SDGFF). As recognition, the winners will receive statuettes.
The amount of the prizes, if any, will be announced on the opening night of this edition.
What you have to keep in mind before registering a film:
Complete the registration process.
Provide the Festival with an online LINK of the film for review by the programming staff Festival.
Do not use in any other form or format, including content burned for read/write (RW), Blu-ray discs, or DVDs.
Do not deposit the films directly at the office's Festival, without exception.
The film must be available for the Festival no later than 15 days before the opening night of this edition.
Festival only allows projection DCP or downloadable digital links.
The films to be registered must be contained in one of the categories detailed below.
“Jimmy Sierra” Opera Prima Fiction Competition: 70 minutes or more, not including closing credits.
"Fernando Báez" First Opera Documentary Contest: 70 minutes or more, not including closing credits.
Short Film Contest "Global Short": 15 minutes or less, including closing credits.
The directors of the short films must be within the age range of 18 to 55 years.
You can present films of any nationality and filmmakers from anywhere in the world.
The number of movies you can register for is unlimited.
Participating in this competition implies full acceptance of the competition rules.
The official language of the country is Spanish. Films in another language must have mandatory Spanish and optional english subtitles.
A film will not be selected for consideration and should not be submitted if the film was completed within 18 months of the opening night of this edition, or if the film was previously submitted to the festival, or presented in the Dominican Republic or for consideration at the Festival before.
