In 2018, Almagro International Film Festival -AIFF- born with the aim of establishing a useful platform for the promotion of the audiovisual industry: a space and time for dissemination and promotion of audiovisual content, transforming the city of Almagro into a meeting point for filmmakers, favoring the exchange of initiatives and promoting a market open to the development of new projects.
AIFF will provide a showcase for the most interesting short format projects done within the last recent months, constituting an standard of quality and high level of commitment to the society & culture of Audiovisual Arts. In addition, the Festival has opened an important window to formats created for online distribution, bringing support to one of the most active and emerging sectors of the audiovisual industry: Internet.

9th ALMAGRO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
1. The ninth edition of the Almagro International Film Festival (AIFF) is open to filmmakers from around the world and will take place in the city of Almagro, Spain, from July 31st to August 9th, 2026.
2. Submissions may be made using any filming method and may be fiction, animation, or documentary.
3. The maximum length may not exceed 20 minutes, including credits.
4. Submitted short films must have completed production after January 1, 2025.
5. The deadline for submitting short films is March 15, 2026.
6. Short films whose original version is not in Spanish must be subtitled in that language.
7. All short films must be subtitled in English and spanish, including those whose original version is in Spanish.
8. The selection will be made by a committee of AIFF experts, and the results will be published on our website in early May 2026.
9. Works submitted to previous AIFF editions will not be considered for the festival.
10. Short films selected to participate in the festival may be screened within the section determined by the Selection and Programming Committee. The Festival Management and its Advisory Committee will establish the order and screening date for each film. Once a film has been registered, it cannot be withdrawn.
11. Short films participating in any section of the festival must not have been screened in any exhibition or festival within the province of Ciudad Real. However, in order to stimulate and support the production and circulation of regional audiovisual works, the Festival may organize a special section of short films produced in Castilla-La Mancha, regardless of whether they have been screened at other festivals or exhibitions in this region of Spain.
12. The organization may use fragments from the selected works (maximum 1 minute) to promote them and the festival.
13. Short films may only be submitted online through the platforms enabled for this purpose.
14. All screenings will be in digital format, regardless of the filming system used to produce the work.
15. The screening files of the selected projects must be sent to program@internationalfilmfestival.es by May 15, 2026. The organization will contact all selected projects to ensure they are submitted within the deadline.
16. Files will be accepted in any of the following formats, in this same order of preference: DCP, MOV ProRes422HQ or H.264; 2k or Full HD. Selected works must have a DCP copy for exhibition.
17. The Official Jury, composed of film professionals, will be responsible for awarding the prizes, and their decision is final.
18. Short films will be eligible for the Best Short Film Award, both in the National and International Sections. The awards will be announced at the time of presentation. A requisite for receiving the award is to be be received in person by a member of the winning film's team.
19. The authors or rights holders of these rights grant permission for the festival to screen the selected works during the festival. There are no contractual obligations on the part of the AIFF organization to the material or intellectual author of the work, or to any other management society. The organization assumes that the persons submitting their works hold the exhibition rights to the works they submit, as well as the authorization to receive an award. In any case, the organization disclaims any liability that may arise from the violation of these rules. Selected films are required to include the selections and awards received in this competition in their press kits and publicity materials.
20. Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of these rules.

Mandatory English subtitles. If selected, Spanish subs will be requested, if available.
