Girls just wanna have FAN
Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia presents its third call for the creation of a short teaser within the WomanInFan program (Sitges FanLab). This initiative aims to promote the visibility and inclusion of women creators in fantastic cinematography by proposing the creation of a piece for circulation in the audiovisual market, serving as a sample of an idea for a fantastic genre feature film.
WomanInFan expands its scope to film production to support the work of female filmmakers within the fantastic genre industry.
The Evaluation Committee will select 10 projects from all submissions, of which there will be one winner. The 9 finalists and the winning project will have the right to participate in the industry sessions of the 57th edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia with an Industry accreditation (excluding private events).
Prize for the WomanInFan short teaser - Sitges Fanlab:
- 1 Industry accreditation.
- A budget of 10,000 euros (VAT included), entirely allocated to the production of the winning short teaser.
- Support from the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in the production functions of the project.
- Presentation of the project within the framework of the corresponding edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in the Industry section and/or in those spaces that the event deems most appropriate, such as Sitges FanPitch.
- 2 nights of accommodation for the winner to participate in the Sitges FanPitch with their winning project from this contest (representatives will bear the costs of transportation and subsistence).
REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment that the future feature film must be directed by a woman or women, as well as the short teaser produced with the prize.
- Script treatment of the future feature film (maximum 10 pages, 4,000 words).
- OPTIONAL: Full script of the feature film (on which the self-concluding short teaser produced with the prize will be based). This point is not essential but will be positively evaluated.
- The project must be in the fantastic fiction genre (documentary genre excluded).
- CV and biofilmography of the director or directors.
- Brief dossier with synopsis of the project, film references, and description of the target audience.
- Videopitch about the project of the film (maximum 3 minutes).
- Proposal for budget breakdown of the 10,000 euros to produce the short teaser.
Selection criteria:
- Originality and coherence of the project: 30 points.
- CV and biofilmography of the director: 10 points.
- Videopitch: 30 points.
- Budgetary coherence: 10 points.
- Project dossier (audience, film references, etc.): 20 points.
EVALUATION COMMITTEE
Projects that meet all the requirements of the WomanInFan short teaser - Sitges Fanlab call will be evaluated by a committee composed of:
- General director of the Foundation.
- Artistic Director of the Festival.
- Festival Industry Manager.
- 2 members of the Festival's Selection Committee.
PARTICIPATION COMMITMENT
The project selected in the WomanInFan short teaser - Sitges Fanlab will receive an accreditation diploma as the winner of the call.
The organization will recognize the signatory of these bases as the sole contact person to negotiate all aspects related to the participation of their project and as the only person responsible to other companies or individuals who may participate in the production of this.
The winning short teaser, and if the corresponding feature film is carried out, must incorporate the WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab logo in both productions, as well as in the graphic and promotional materials of the same under the heading "With the support of WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab".

III Call Fantastic Residence WomanInFan - Sitges Fanlab
The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia presents the III call for the WomanInFan training grants - Sitges FanLab, within the WomanInFan program.
This initiative from the Sitges Film Festival for the visibility and inclusion of women creators in fantastic cinematography proposes a new platform for female filmmakers in the fantastic genre. It is a training proposal through the residency format, which will take place during the 57th edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.
The grant includes:
Accommodation, transportation, and meals throughout the 57th edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.
Access to all Industry sessions of the 57th edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.
The selected participants will receive intensive guidance from prominent experts in the film industry to develop their projects in different areas. The mentorship sessions and workshops will take place in Sitges within the dates of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.
Training through mentorships, individual consultations with experts, screenings, masterclasses, and workshops.
Opportunity to present the project within the framework of the corresponding edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in the Industry section and/or in those spaces that the event deems most appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS
- The director must have directed at least one fantastic fiction short film and attach it or, failing that, show a reel of their previous audiovisual projects.
- The director must have a future fantastic fiction feature film project (documentary genre excluded).
- CV and filmography of the director.
- Brief dossier with synopsis of the future project, script treatment, film references, and description of the target audience.
- Videopitch about the future project.
- Script of the project. The script may be in its first version.
- Letter of motivation.
- European scope contest. Candidates must reside in Europe.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Meet all the requirements of the bases in their entirety.
Then, scoring will be based on the following parameters:
- Originality and coherence of the future project: 50 points.
Applications for the Fantastic Residence WomanInFan - Sitges Fanlab will be evaluated by a committee composed of:
- General director of the Foundation.
- Artistic Director of the Festival.
- Festival Industry Manager.
- Representative of DAMA.
PARTICIPATION COMMITMENT
The three selected participants will receive a participation certificate and commit to including the participation in WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab in the credits of the future project.
If the corresponding project is carried out, the grantee undertakes to add the WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab logo to the credits of the production, as well as in the graphic and promotional materials of the project under the heading "With the support of WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab".
