The Spanish Film Academy opens applications for the 2025-2026 Residency Program, aimed at filmmakers developing audiovisual projects with a strong connection to Madrid.
A total of 20 projects will be selected, providing financial support, personalized mentorship from industry professionals, and a dedicated workspace at the Academy’s headquarters. Participants will also have access to training sessions and networking events organized by the Academy and Madrid City Council.
The program lasts nine months (from October 2025 to June 2026) and is open to both Spanish and international creators.

Film Academy Residences - Madrid
The LATINX 2025 Latin American Argument Contest, organized by the Latin American Training Center (LATC), targets emerging screenwriters, students, and recent graduates from Latin America with no produced feature films. The call accepts up to 3-page synopses for fiction or documentary feature films centered on the theme “Latin American Places.” Applications are open until July 2, 2025, with various fees and discounts for diversity and inclusion groups, as well as a social fee waiver option. Prizes include cash awards, coaching sessions with renowned screenwriter Kate Lyra, Final Draft software licenses, and books. The jury comprises distinguished film and drama professionals from Brazil and Peru. This contest offers a great chance for new Latin American talent to advance their projects and gain specialized mentorship.

The Rueda Film Academy Program is aimed at emerging or professional screenwriters (individuals), of legal age at the time the application is submitted, of any nationality, whether national or foreign, who present initiatives focused on the development of projects, in feature film format and of any genre (fiction, documentary or animation).

Rueda Film Academy Program - Film Academy
The Unproduced Screenplay Competition at the 46th Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema is open to Latin American or Caribbean authors submitting original, unproduced scripts with themes related to Latin America or the Caribbean. Scripts must be written in Spanish and not have been previously awarded or published.
The call for submissions is open from May 5 to August 15, 2025. Applicants must complete the registration form available on the festival's official website: habanafilmfestival.com. Submissions should include the full script, a synopsis, and a brief author biography.
Selected scripts will be evaluated by a specialized jury, and the winner will receive the Coral Award for Unproduced Screenplay, aiming to encourage the creation and development of new cinematic proposals in the region.
