The Baixada Film Festival celebrates its 3rd edition from December 7 to 10, 2026, in Pinheiro, Maranhão, Brazil, under the theme “Cinema in Motion in the Baixada Maranhense”.
The festival aims to democratize access to cinema, support independent audiovisual production, and celebrate cultural diversity, local identities, and stories rooted in different communities.
The program features two competitive sections: the Short Film Competition, open to films with a maximum running time of 15 minutes, and the Music Video Competition, dedicated to creativity and artistic expression through music and audiovisual storytelling. Both sections welcome Brazilian and international productions.
The festival also presents non-competitive showcases, including Cinema from the Baixada Maranhense, Afro-Brazilian Cinema, International Cinema, and Children and Youth Cinema, alongside audiovisual workshops and cultural activities.
Through its Open-Air Cinema program, the festival offers free screenings in public and community spaces, connecting cinema with education, memory, cultural expression, and citizenship.
