Festival start: 30 August 2022      Festival end: 04 September 2022

The Roman Road Via XIV crosses the Támega River Valley for over 2000 years. Almost diffused today, it was replaced by the current communication routes that cross our valley... some of them built over the Roman Via itself, others along old roads.

Throughout this time, ancient ways were the catalyst in the transmission of culture and in the expansion of Roman civilization; they were the path of new ideas, progress and communication between peoples.

The International Short Film Festival Via XIV wants to continue with this path of culture, attracting the eyes of creators from all over the world to the town of Verín. The role of shorts in cinema is fundamental as an axis of expression, but also as a tannery of new values that find in the limitation of short story a positive tension to condense the ability to narrate, express and transmit it in a audiovisual work.

NOVA. Short films that have no place in the categorized topics will be selected; It is a general category that will include contemporary films, author's cinema and works that are not governed by obsolete industrial formats.

MIGRATION / BORDER - HORIZONS. Category that will influence the idea of the horizon as an imaginary and invisible, distant and unattainable line of great emotional and symbolic violence as a metaphor for migration.

On the other hand, the horizon as a line that separates here from there, as a kind of border between where we are and any other place.

GALLEGO / PORTUGUESA - LA RAIA. Some of the best films in the world are made from the banks of a small and silent river ... Given the uniqueness of our territory, the Támega Valley divided by the Raia, and our history of emigration and border with all its meanings in both banks, this category will host short films by filmmakers from Galicia and Portugal.

The following awards are established:

Jury Prize for Best Short Film of the Official NOVA Category: € 750 and Trophy.
Jury Prize for Best Short Film of the Official MIGRATION / BORDER Category - HORIZONTES: € 750 and Trophy.
