1. The competition is international. Individuals or legal entities who hold or legitimately represent the exhibition rights of the submitted works may participate. The person registering declares that they have the necessary authorization to participate in the Festival and guarantees that the exhibition of the work does not infringe upon the rights of third parties, exempting the organization from any liability arising from claims related to intellectual property rights, industrial property rights, image rights, or any other applicable rights.

Each participant may submit as many works as they wish. Short films may be made in any language; if the original language is not Spanish, they must be submitted with Spanish subtitles. Registration for the Festival is free.

2. Only fiction, documentary, or animated short films may be submitted. Works of an advertising, promotional, corporate, institutional, educational, or informational nature, music videos, or fashion films will not be accepted. The maximum duration of the works is 35 minutes, including credits.

3. Short films produced during 2025 and 2026 will be accepted, provided they have not been submitted to any previous edition of the Festival.

4. Submitted short films may not be published or available for free viewing on publicly accessible internet platforms or portals during the registration period and the Festival itself.

5. The registration period will be open from July 10, 2026, to September 5, 2026, inclusive.

6. Registration and submission of films will be done through the official platform Festhome.

7. A Selection Committee comprised of industry professionals and members of the Festival's organizing team will be responsible for selecting, from among all the submitted short films, those that will participate in the "OFFICIAL SELECTION." These films will be screened during the Festival, from November 4th to 14th, 2026, in the theater(s) determined by the organizers. The Selection Committee will then determine the nominees who will compete for awards in two separate categories: national and international.

Access to the OFFICIAL SELECTION screenings will be through a system of season tickets and individual tickets at a nominal price. This measure is due to the limited capacity of the theater. These fees will be used exclusively for organizational purposes and will not be used for profit. All proceeds will be used to cover the costs associated with managing the access system and ticket control. Registration for the Festival implies acceptance of this system of access to screenings, without generating any right to remuneration, fees, or exhibition rights for the participants.

The Selection Committee will choose, from among all the submitted short films, those that will form part of the competitive section called “ANNUAL SECTION.” These will be screened in periodic sessions held throughout 2027, as part of the Festival's activities, which aim to ensure continuity and activity throughout the year, in the screening room determined by the organizers. The “ANNUAL SECTION” is competitive, and all selected short films are eligible for the “LUCERNA AWARD.” Screenings in the ANNUAL SECTION will remain free of charge, with open admission until capacity is reached.

The Selection Committee will evaluate the artistic, technical, and narrative quality of the works. The Selection Committee's decision is final. The selection and nominations for the Pilar awards will be announced between October and November 2026.

The Festival will inform all selected participants in writing, via the email address provided during registration, of the selection results at least two weeks before the start of the competition. The selection will then be published on the Festival's official website.

The Festival may also announce the selected works progressively on social media for promotional purposes, notifying the participants at the time of publication.

The Festival will provide transportation from the nearest train station, bus station, or airport to Pilar de la Horadada to the screening venue so that the creator or representative of the selected work can attend the presentation on the day of its public screening.

Selected works must be submitted in a digital format suitable for projection, along with any technical and promotional materials requested by the organizers for proper exhibition and distribution. The organization will inform the selected works of the technical specifications of the projection file and the required promotional material, as well as the deadlines for their

11. The award nominees will be invited by the organization to the Closing Gala and presentation of the 2026 PILAR awards.

The presence of at least one person representing the technical or artistic team of the nominated short film is required, with preference given to the nominee themselves.

In the event that the short film is awarded a prize and there is no in-person representation at the Closing Gala, the jury's decision and the public recognition will be maintained, as well as the delivery of the corresponding statuette; however, it will be understood that the person or entity benefiting from the prize voluntarily waives the economic endowment associated with it, unless there is a duly justified cause previously accepted by the organization.

12. The decision of the Official Jury will be final and will be announced during the 2026 Pilar awards Gala. In the event of a lack of entries, lower than expected participation, or if the quality of the submissions does not meet the Festival's minimum requirements, the awards may be declared void. Similarly, if any of the winners do not meet the requirements established in these rules, the corresponding awards may be declared void.

13. The authorization to screen the selected works will be limited exclusively to the screenings included in the Official and Annual Sections, according to the Festival's program. All award-winning short films may be screened again, if the Festival deems it appropriate, in an additional session after the competition week, on a date to be determined, in order to introduce the winners to the public. Registration for the Festival authorizes the organization to use stills, posters, graphic material, and excerpts of up to three minutes in length from the submitted works, exclusively for promotional and dissemination purposes related to the Festival and any of its editions.

14. The short films awarded in each edition may be screened subsequently, within future Festival activities and programs, in order to commemorate past editions in showcases such as the "CORTOPILAR Classics," always in free, non-profit screenings.

15. The material received from the selected short films will be archived in the Festival's documentary and audiovisual collection.

16. Participants guarantee that the submitted short films are not subject to any legal claims and that they comply with current legislation on Intellectual Property. In any case, the Festival organization declines any responsibility arising from the content of the submitted works or from possible infringements of third-party rights.

17. The Official Jury may award honorable mentions not specified in these rules. The Official Jury will not correspond with or provide additional information regarding the criteria or decisions adopted during the awards process.

18. The Festival will carry out communication, advertising, and promotion of its activities and program through its official website and social media, as well as through any other media it deems appropriate.

19. Cash prizes will be subject to applicable tax withholdings.

20. The organizers reserve the right to modify these rules for justified reasons and will notify participants of any relevant changes, as well as any alterations to the Festival dates resulting from circumstances beyond their control.

21. Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen circumstances will be resolved by the Festival organizers.
