The Ourense Film Festival (OUFF) presents annually a selection of the most innovative and outstanding films and audiovisual productions in Galicia, Europe, Latin America and the rest of the world. The OUFF receives each year works from a hundred of countries, whose common denominator are their socially aware subjects and their innovative forms.

OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL SECTION RULES

1. Objective
The Ourense International Film Festival (OUFF) aims to serve as an intercultural forum for the defense, promotion, and understanding of quality global cinema.

2. Dates
The 30th edition of OUFF will take place from September 26 to October 5, 2025.

4. Section
Official competition for feature films and short films.

5. Participants
Individuals or legal entities (producers, distributors, etc.) who hold the legal rights over the works submitted for competition may participate.

6. Film Requirements
a) Must be produced in 2024 or 2025.
b) May be fiction, animation, or documentary works.
c) Must not have been commercially exhibited or released in Spain in public theaters (except festivals), television, DVD, or video before October 5, 2025. Nor should they be freely accessible on the internet in Spain.
d) Feature films must have a runtime of over 60 minutes, while short films must be under 15 minutes.

7. How to Participate
The registration of films to participate in the official section of the festival is free and must be done online through Festhome or Click For Festivals. a) The deadline for film submissions is July 30, 2025. b) The festival management reserves the right to select films submitted after the deadline.

8. Selection
A committee appointed by the organization will be responsible for inviting the films that will compete in the official sections of the festival.

9. Obligations of Selected Participants
Participants whose films are selected for the competitive sections must comply with the following provisions:
a) Full acceptance of these rules.
b) Granting rights for the public screening of their films during the festival in different venues across the city.
c) Authorization to disclose materials from the registered films (stills, posters, press materials, script excerpts, etc.). Participants authorize the dissemination of up to two minutes of footage from these films in any media outlet.
d) Acceptance that, in the event of winning any monetary prize, they will reference it in at least the printed informational and promotional materials (press books, posters, etc.).
e) Provide all requested materials (posters, press book, photographs, dialogue list, etc.).
f) Provide the screening copy (preferably in DCP format).
g) For short films in languages other than Spanish, subtitles in Spanish or Galician must be provided.
h) The film cannot be withdrawn from the program nor be commercially presented in Spain before its screening at OUFF.
i) The copy must be in the festival's possession by September 10, 2025.
j) Grant a free copy of the winning works (after the commercial screening window) for up to five non-profit cultural screenings in Ourense throughout the year.
k) Legal representatives of the works commit to not publicly disclosing the official selection or the winners until the festival does. Violations may result in disqualification, with the excluded work being replaced by the first film on the internal pre-selection reserve list.
l) The person or entity submitting the selected film commits to having representatives of the technical or artistic team attend the festival.

10. Screening
a) Feature film screenings will be in DCP format (compliant with DCI standards) or another format determined by the festival. Short films will be shown in digital format, MP4 H264 files.
b) Film distributors must provide KDMs for the festival's servers at their own expense.
c) During the festival, the organization reserves the right to screen the selected films up to three times in cinemas and associated spaces. The schedule will be determined by the organization.
d) Films must remain in the festival's possession until the event's conclusion. e) Winning films will be shown in a special screening the day after the closing ceremony.

11. Jury
a) All official section awards (except the Audience Award for Best Feature Film) will be granted by a jury composed of professionals from the film, audiovisual, media, and cultural sectors.
b) The jury cannot declare any prize void or grant it ex aequo.
c) The jury may award special mentions (without monetary prizes).
d) The jury's decisions are final.

13. Parallel Awards
- Best Debut Film Award - €3,000 + Trophy
- Audience Award - €3,000 + Trophy
- CIMA Award for Best Female Director - Trophy
* The Audience Award will be granted to the feature film with the highest weighted score from audience votes.
* The CIMA Award is granted by the Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media (CIMA).
* The Best Debut Film Award is granted by the festival's organizing committee.

14. Monetary Prize Distribution
In official sections, monetary prizes go to the film's distributor or producer, except for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Performance, which go to the individual winners. Taxes and other expenses will be deducted from the prize amount.

15. Winners: Attendance at the Closing Gala
Winners must attend the closing gala to collect their awards. Absence without valid justification will result in forfeiture of the cash prize and trophy.

16. Final Resolution
Any doubts regarding the interpretation of these rules or conflicts arising from their application are the sole responsibility of the festival organization. The Spanish version of these rules will prevail in case of disputes.
