The 9th edition of the PIFF Festival will take place in the city of Paraná, from September 2nd to September 4th, 2026.

The Paraná Festival's headquarters are located at the following address: Asociación Civil B. Pedro Lemebel, Santos Vega Street 1754, Units 9, 10, and 11, Galería Comercial “El Sol”. Its official Facebook page (Fanpage) and Instagram account (@cinefestparana) provide detailed information and details on how to contact the Festival and its various departments.

PIFF, the Paraná International Independent Film Festival, is jointly owned by Grupo Transmedia Argentina and CICVE (Center for Research in Experimental Film and Video Art), both belonging to the Asociación Civil “Biblioteca Pedro Lemebel”. The Paraná Festival is organized by its director, Esteban Amatti.

The Paraná Film Festival is recognized by the International Center for Experimental Film and Video Art (CIFE) in the "competitive film festivals" category.

The Paraná Film Festival aims to make a positive contribution to the development of culture and the film industry.

All films presented at the 9th edition of PIFF will be selected by its selection committee, headed by the Festival Director and advised by a network of international delegates comprised of film professionals and specialists in the world of cinema and film festivals. This committee will be called the "International Film Classification Committee."

All films selected for the 9th edition will receive a certificate of participation from the Paraná Film Festival Director.

I - Article 1
The 9th edition of the PIFF Festival will take place in the city of Paraná, from September 2nd to September 4th, 2026. The “Juan L. Ortiz Cultural Center” will be the venue for screenings and in-person presentations; the awards ceremony will also be held there. The program is competitive.

I - Article 3
The Paraná International Independent Film Festival, which is comprised equally of the Transmedia Argentina Group and CICVE (International Center for Research in Experimental Film and Video Art), belonging to the "Pedro Lemebel Library" Civil Association. The organization of the Paraná Festival is headed by its director, Esteban Amatti.

I - Article 4
All films must be presented with Spanish subtitles embedded in the image, without exception.

The Paraná Film Festival is recognized by the “International Center for Research in Experimental Film and Video Art” within the category of “competitive film festivals.”

The Paraná Film Festival aims to make a positive contribution to the development of culture and the film industry.

I - Article 6
All films presented at the 9th edition of PIFF will be selected by its selection committee, headed by the Festival Director and advised by a network of international delegates, composed of professionals specializing in the world of cinema and film festivals. This committee will be called the “International Film Classification Committee.”
I - Article 7
All films selected for the 9th edition will receive a certificate of participation from the Paraná Film Festival.

II FILM PRE-SELECTION

II - Article 1

Only feature films, medium-length films, and short films that accept the rules stipulated by the festival's management and duly complete the registration form, specified on each platform, may participate in the Paraná Film Festival.

II - Article 2

Submitted feature films, medium-length films, and short films must meet the following conditions:

• Have a minimum duration of 5 minutes and a maximum duration of 120 minutes.

• Have been produced within the 18 months prior to the start of the Festival.

• Comply with the regulations or guidelines of each section.

II - Article 3

All submitted films will be considered for any of the Festival's program sections, although each section has its own requirements and specifications.

II - Article 4

Foreign films must have Spanish subtitles affixed to them.

II - Article 5

The network of international delegates advising the Paraná Film Festival organization can assist anyone wishing to submit their films or who has questions about how to do so. The Festival's film department will answer any questions regarding film submissions.

II - Article 6

The deadline for submitting audiovisual works for the pre-selection is August 31, 2026. The Festival management reserves the right to accept audiovisual works submitted after the deadline; it also reserves the right to accept audiovisual works for both programs mentioned in Article 1, Section I (Introduction).

II - Article 7

World or international premieres will be given priority in the selection process, although each section of the Festival has its own requirements and specifications.

Films on VOD platforms are not permitted, according to the requirements and specifications of each section regarding the type of premiere required (world, international, or national), except in cases where it is for strictly professional use and with restricted access. Exceptionally, the steering committee reserves the right to reject productions that have previously participated in certain non-competitive film events.

II - Article 8

The preferred formats for the pre-selection process are: DVD, Blu-ray (region 0), and/or download link. DCP files will also be accepted (in this case, once registered, please contact the Film Department at departamentopiff@gmail.com to provide the KDM files). AVI, MP4, and MPEG formats are also acceptable.
The selection committee may accept work copies of films during the pre-selection process upon prior specification by the producers or their representatives.

The Festival reserves the right to download submitted films via online links for offline viewing. These downloads will be for the strictly internal use of the Selection Committee members, unless the films are selected for the online program.

II - Article 9

Feature films, medium-length films, and short films submitted to the pre-selection process must be presented in their original version:

• Without subtitles if the film's original language is Spanish.

• With mandatory Spanish subtitles for original versions in other languages.

II - Article 10

Films submitted to the pre-selection process must be sent via courier or mail, indicating the submission number and film title, to the following address: Calle Coronel Caminos y Día del árbol, Barrio el sol II, manzana “D”, Depto 136, Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina, (Postal Code: 3100), or via email to departamentopiff@gmail.com.
The cost of shipping films submitted for pre-selection will be borne by the individuals or companies that submitted them.

The pre-selection materials will not be returned, except upon express request from the individuals or companies that submitted the films for pre-selection, who will be responsible for the shipping costs. This return will only be possible within six months of the Festival and via departamentopiff@gmail.com
The Festival will not be responsible for any damage caused to pre-selection materials during shipping or return. Only selected films will be required in their official version.
All submitted works, whether selected or not, will be cataloged and will receive a certificate of participation in this Festival. Unselected works will be immediately promoted to the Festival's "Non-Competitive" category.

RULES

III SELECTED FILMS

III - Article 1

When a film is officially invited by the Festival Director, the producers or representatives of the selected films must confirm the previously submitted and duly completed registration form no later than August 31, 2026. The form is displayed on the platform as soon as you access the registration.

The Festival will recognize the signatory of this confirmation as the sole point of contact for negotiating all aspects related to the film's participation in the event and as solely responsible to any other companies or individuals who may have participated in the film's production.

Confirmation by the producers or representatives of the selected film means that they may not withdraw it from the program and constitutes irrevocable acceptance of all the rules required by the Festival management.

III - Article 2

The invitation for each film selected by the Paraná Film Festival will be strictly confidential between the Festival's management and the producers or representatives of the invited film until the Festival decides to officially announce it.

III - Article 3

The overall program of the Paraná Film Festival and the screening schedules are the sole responsibility of the Festival's management committee.

III - Article 4

The formats for the copies must comply with the technical requirements of each section of the Festival.
The required formats for all sections of the Festival are DCP and 35mm. In cases where the format is DCP, the Festival's technical department will send the server certificate to the film's producers or representatives, as well as the coordinates for receiving the KDM files. The costs of creating the KDM files will also be borne by the film's producers or representatives.
DVD or Blu-ray formats will not be accepted in the Festival program under any circumstances.

The Festival's technical department, tecnicafilmsparana@gmail.com, is available to the owners or representatives of the invited films to provide precise instructions for optimal screening and to answer any technical questions they may have.

The Paraná Film Festival reserves the right to reject any copies that, after inspection by the Festival's technical department, are deemed unsuitable for screening. The Festival will forward a technical report to the film's owners or representatives if any irregularities are found in the copies.

III - Article 5

Five days before the start of the Festival, the producers or representatives of the invited films must send, at their own expense:
One copy in the original version (the maximum number of copies to be sent to the Festival is at the discretion of the producers or representatives):
With Spanish subtitles, if the original version of the film is not in Spanish.
With english subtitles, if the original version is in Spanish.
One DVD of the final original version of the film with english subtitles and the corresponding english subtitle list for the creation of additional electronic subtitling.

III - Article 6

The participant will be responsible for the shipping costs and insurance of the selected film copies until they arrive at the Festival's headquarters or its customs agent.

The Paraná Film Festival will be responsible for insuring the copies from the moment they arrive at its headquarters or its customs agent until their return.

The return of the selected film copies will also be the responsibility of the participant and will not take place before the Festival's closing date. In case of damage to a copy during the days of the Festival, the liability of the Festival will not exceed the cost of printing a new copy, according to the current rates of the laboratories for the printing of the standard copy.

III - Article 7

If the media is DCP, the costs of producing the KDMs will also be borne by the film's producers or representative.

III - Article 8

The documentation materials required for press releases, the official Festival catalog, and website (synopsis, technical and artistic credits, filmographies, director photos, film stills, and film stills) will be extracted from the online registration form, which must be duly completed no later than August 31, 2026.

The Festival's documentation service will coordinate this material and will be available to participants to answer any questions regarding it.
III - Article 9

The Festival's press department will request the necessary promotional material for accredited media outlets.

The producers or representatives of the film will be responsible for sending this promotional material, either directly or via the internet.

III - Article 10

In the event of an unforeseen conflict (organizational or operational) or if these rules are not properly followed, the Paraná Film Festival management retains its authority and reserves the power to make the final decision, adhering to the regulations of the "International Center for Research in Experimental Film and Video Art" regarding international film events.

If there is any disagreement regarding the interpretation of these rules, the Spanish version will prevail.
Any questions that may arise regarding the interpretation of these rules will be resolved by the Paraná Film Festival management.
