The Vichy International Film Festival is proud to present the first edition of "Un Brin de Court", a captivating festival of short films (between 1 and 3 minutes) which will take place on November 15 and 16, 2025 at the Backstep theater in Vichy.

2 categories proposed: "free theme" and "sharing"
Organized by the Vichy Audiovisual Club in partnership with the Planète Jeunes Reporters association and the Backstep theater, "Un Brin de Court" is intended to be the successor to the Vichy short film festival which ended in March 2016 after 7 years of existence.

The audience present and a jury of professionals will be asked to vote for their favorite films for each of the two categories in competition.

Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 7 p.m.:

Screening of the films selected on the free theme.

Sunday, November 16 at 3 p.m.:

Screening of the films selected on the theme of sharing.

OFFICIAL PRIZES

Subject to change, the following prizes will be awarded:

Compulsory theme category “Sharing”

A dedicated trophy will reward the winners. It will be sent by post in the absence of the director at the competition.

All selected directors will receive a certificate of participation.

DEPOSIT A FILM

The first festival "Un Brin de Court" will take place on 15 and 16 November 2025 at the Backstep theatre in Vichy (Allier, France).

It is organized by the Vichy Audiovisual Club (C@V), with the support of the association Planète Jeunes Reporters and the theater Backstep.

For its first edition, the Vichy International Film Festival launches its call for short films which will run from January 1st 2025 to July 31th 2025.

ADMISSION CONDITIONS

- Genres admitted: fiction, drama, comedy.

Documentary and animated films are not accepted.

- 2 categories to choose from:

• Free theme
• Imposed theme: "sharing"

- All films submitted must be public.

- Only films made after January 1, 2023 are accepted.

- duration: films must be between 1 minute and 3 minutes (including opening and closing (credits).

- Films must be in French or have French subtitles.

- Participation is strictly nominative and limited to one film per category.

- No film may be withdrawn once the selection has been confirmed for presentation at the Vichy International Film Festival.

FILM REGISTRATION

• Registration is completely free.

SELECTION COMMITTEE

The selection committee is composed of members of the associations «Club Audiovisuel de Vichy» and «Planète Jeunes reporters» as well as people from the associative or artistic world.

Between 20 and 30 films will be selected for each category in competition.

Committee members will make their decision based on the following criteria: production, script, interpretation, image and sound.

The deliberations of the selection committee will be confidential and not subject to complaint.

The films entered may be selected for the non-competition programs.

The directors and producers registered will be informed of the selection committee’s decision by e-mail from 15 September 2025.

IN CASE OF SELECTION

If selected, the following items must be sent by email or WeTransfer before October 15, 2025 to viff03200@gmail.com :

• The movie in mp4 HD quality;
• a short synopsis (3 lines maximum);
• a filmography and a CV of the director in pdf format;
• A picture of the director in JPEG format;
• a royalty-free film (photo or poster) for the festival catalogue and promotion on the internet
The selected directors will be invited to the festival but neither their accommodation nor their meals can be covered by the organization. However, everything will be done to ensure an optimal reception.

PROMOTION / EXPLOITATION / DISSEMINATION

Participants grant the festival, without consideration, the right to reproduce photographs or excerpts of the film for dissemination for promotional purposes in the publications of the festival, on the internet pages of the association and the festival, in the press and on television stations.

At the end of the festival, participants authorize the association «Club Audiovisuel de Vichy», free of charge, to make an audiovisual montage of excerpts from several of the films selected as part of the Vichy International Film Festival (in particular the award-winning films) and to disseminate them on all physical or digital media for the purpose of promoting the Vichy short film festival in France and abroad.

Short films will be royalty-free during and after the festival. They will remain available to the association «Club Audiovisuel de Vichy» for any event organized by it. None of the authors or producers of the short films will be entitled to any remuneration or compensation for the distribution of their film.

No commercial use of the short films selected will be made by the organizers.

The association "Club Audiovisuel de Vichy" draws the attention of participants to the regulations for the use of music and images whose rights are not free, and commits participants presenting videos to comply with French law. The association assumes no responsibility for the reporting of musical extracts to SACEM.

A dedicated trophy will be awarded to the winners and will be sent by mail in case of director’s absence from the competition.

VARIOUS

Participation in the Vichy International Film Festival implies full acceptance of the terms of these rules. The organization reserves the right to cancel the registration and take any other appropriate action in case of non-compliance with the terms of the regulations or attitude contrary to the smooth running of the festival.
