In 2024 we organize the first edition of the Pyrenees Mythological Film Festival in Vall de Cardós. To continue the initiative, this year we plan to hold the Cardós Film Fest, Pyrenean mythological film festival, from September 26 to 28, 2025, in person.

The organization of the Festival (Cultural, Civic and Sports Association of Valls de Cardós and the Vall de Cardós City Council) calls the short film competition for the 2025 edition

ENCANTADES Prize: Award and €800, for the best short film.

BITERNA Prize: Award and €400, for the best production in the Pyrenees.

RECOSSIRA Prize: Award and €200, for the short film with the best research and research work.

FADRINATGE Prize: Award and €200, for the best short film made by young people under 35 years of age.

NEQUA Audience Prize:Award and gift.

The Festival will take place in the town of Ribera de Cardós, municipality of Vall de Cardós, Pallars Sobirà region, from September 26 to 28, 2025, and will have the nerve center at the socio-cultural venue La Boïga, with complementary activities in other spaces in the municipality.

The axis of the Festival will continue to be the short film competition, of any genre (fiction, animation, documentary), with mythological and folkloric themes, understanding as folklore the set of customs, beliefs, crafts, songs, symbols, myths and legends of a traditional and popular nature from the valleys and towns of the world, as well as their interpretations.
Its scope is international.

Any person or legal entity can participate, individually or collectively, without any age limit, and it can be made with any short film (maximum duration 30') with HD resolution. The productions must have been made after January 1, 2023, and not selected by the Festival held in Vall de Cardós in 2024.

Each director, producer and/or director can register a maximum of 2 works that can be shot in any language and/or dialect versions. If they are not filmed in Catalan or Spanish, they will contain subtitles with one of these 2 languages.
For the selection, quality will be prioritized as a priority objective and that the production is unpublished and/or has not been released commercially.
Films can be submitted to the Festival only through the platform www.festhome.com.
Registration will be carried out by sending the short films through the Festhome link with a deadline of June 30, 2025.
The participant agrees that the YouTube, Vimeo or other password will not expire or change until the Festival ends.
The registration of a film implies the symbolic payment of a fee of €1.
Due to the commitment to parity and to support the presence of women, gender non-sidents and racialized people, in film production, the festival may request that the gender (female, male, non-binary, others) and the identification of non-white people be indicated to all participants with the aim of preparing statistics with reliable and real data that allow knowing the degree of inclusion in the audiovisual field.
The REGISTRATION AND RECEPTION deadline for productions ends on June 30, 2025. Registrations that arrive later will not be accepted.
The organizing committee will make a PRIOR SELECTION of the works presented, and will especially value the aspects highlighted in point 5 of these RULES. This decision will be communicated to each producer and/or director of each of the selected productions, before August 15.
Works of an advertising or tourist nature will not be admitted, nor those that use non-original material in more than 10% of the entire work. Works that do not have the necessary technical quality for correct visualization will also not be accepted, nor will those that have been generated, totally or partially, by artificial intelligence.
The OFFICIAL SELECTION will be made public on the Festival website starting September 1, 2025. The organizing committee reserves the right to use partial images of the selected works as promotional material for the Festival.
NOTIFICATION OF THE WINNERS/NOTHING will be made public in person AT THE CONCLUSION ACT OF THE FESTIVAL and, subsequently, on the website and xxss of the organizing entities, and other media.
The registered productions will become part of the Festival fund and organizing entities, for the purposes of consultation and study, being authorized to reproduce them for 1 year from the end of the Festival within the framework of its activities, without profit, and with the aim of disseminating the production and the Festival. These projections will always be communicated to the owners of the work. In no case will screening fees be paid.
BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1st you must send it to concurscardosfilmfest@gmail.com:
1. The technical and artistic sheet of the production.
2. Advertising materials for promotional purposes (photographs, official trailer, press dossier, paper posters, etc.).
3. The projection file in HD format, in the best possible quality and with the incorporation of subtitles in Catalan or Spanish, in the event that they have not been made in one of these 2 languages.
In the case of postal or courier delivery, the materials must be sent to the Vall de Cardós Town Hall, Camino del Comunidor-25570 Ribera de Cardós (Pallars Sobirà).
Shipping costs, if applicable, will be the responsibility of whoever registers the film. Any film that does not meet this requirement will not be accepted.

The selected productions will make up the OFFICIAL SELECTION, and will be publicly exhibited during the days of the Festival, understanding that their authors or producers authorize the screening. In no case is the payment of screening fees contemplated.
The JURY, appointed by the organizing committee, and made up of film and culture professionals, will decide the awards for the OFFICIAL SELECTION. The public award will be decided by the people attending the Festival.
The award for the Best Production of the Pyrenees will take into account these two criteria:
That the production and/or management team is from the Pyrenees.
That they are filmed totally or partially in the Pyrenees.

The Jury will have the power to award EX AEQUO awards and a SPECIAL MENTION to highlight technical and artistic aspects of some of the productions in competition. Their decisions will be final. No prize will be deserted.
The production companies accept that, if they obtain any of the prizes awarded, they will include a written reference in the award of the prize at the beginning of each and every copy of the production that they distribute for exhibition in commercial theaters and/or in audiovisual contests, as well as in all printed informative and promotional material. The aforementioned reference will consist of a text with the type of award awarded, invariably accompanied by the image of the winners that will be provided by the organizing committee.
The concluding ceremony and awards AWARD will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Any issue that arises during the management of the Festival, not contemplated in the RULES, will be decided by the organizing committee. Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of these RULES.
