From the FCIA 1503 Film Festival we are happy to tell you that we are going to start our first edition in the great Villa de Aranda de Duero (Burgos), giving shape to our illusion of being able to bring Culture and Cinema closer, and to be able to give also meet those young directors and actors.

OFFICIAL SECTION AWARDS
The following awards are established for the National Short Film Competition:
Best National Short Film Award: Trophy
Best Director Award: Trophy
Best Actor Award: Trophy
Best Actress Award: Trophy
An additional award will be granted by the organizing committee and local/regional associations.
For the International Short Film Competition, the following award is established:
Best International Short Film Award: Trophy
The inclusion of any other award not listed in these rules will be duly announced through the Festival’s official communication channels (website, press release, etc.).
THIRD EDITION OF THE ARANDA DE DUERO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
In the third edition of the Aranda International Film Festival, the El Mostacho Cultural Association seeks to establish the world of short films as the foundation and cornerstone of the cultural offerings of Aranda de Duero and La Ribera. To this end, this edition will see the first categorization of the different sections of the festival, with the aim of presenting the works to the public in a more accessible way, separated by theme, thus making it more user-friendly and maximizing the possibilities of attracting and penetrating different locations.
The following competitions will be established within the Aranda International Film Festival:
1. III National Short Film Competition.
2. III International Short Film Competition.
3. III Documentary Short Film Competition.
4. I “Talento Burgalés” Short Film Competition
Once these four competitions have been established, prizes will be awarded for each of them:
1. NATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
To be eligible for the National Short Film Competition, works must be Spanish productions and/or directed by Spanish filmmakers, produced or made after January 1, 2024, and not have been entered in previous editions of this Festival.
All Spanish productions and co-productions in which Spanish participation exceeds 50% will be considered Spanish short films. All genres (fiction, documentary, experimental), themes, and formats will be accepted.
Films must be submitted in Spanish or in their original language (Catalan, Galician, Basque, etc.) with Spanish subtitles, otherwise the selection committee will not be obliged to view them.
The duration of the works may not exceed 20 minutes.
The works will be submitted on behalf of a person, organization, or company that holds the rights to them or legally represents them. The production and/or distribution companies of the selected or award-winning audiovisual works must include a written reference to the award of said selection or prize at the beginning of each and every copy they distribute for exhibition in theaters, other film competitions, physical copies, television, or VOD (video on demand) platforms, as well as in all informational and promotional material. This reference shall consist of a text with the selection or award, which will be provided by the Aranda International Film Festival organization together with the rules of use.
The decisions of the Selection Committee and the jury are final.
The festival will be held in person.
ONLINE REGISTRATION
The registration period for entries will be from June 3, 2025, to July 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
All entries must be submitted through the festival's official platforms:

These platforms provide access to the various open competitions, and the same short film may be entered in different competitions as long as its characteristics meet the participation requirements.

Twenty short films will be included in the official selection and will compete in the different categories of the competition, provided that the nature of the work allows it.
The selection will be made by a committee of the organization for the different sections of the festival, and the results will be published on our website on September 15, 2025.
The organization will notify participants of the selection results by email, and once confirmed, participants must send the following files by email:
Screening copy: .mov/mepg 4 format. FullHD resolution (1920x1080) with ACC stereo audio.

Image of the poster (minimum 800 pixels wide)

The selected short films may be screened in any of the sections organized by the Festival, as well as in screenings scheduled outside the dates established for the third edition of the Aranda Film Festival. The festival will notify the short films of their programming and screenings. These screenings outside the festival dates are accepted up to one year after the festival, provided they are for cultural and non-commercial purposes, both in Aranda de Duerontries will be from June 3, 2025, to July 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The organization may use excerpts from the works, no longer than 1 minute in length, for the promotion of the works or the festival itself.
The organizers of the Aranda de Duero International Film Festival and the El Mostacho Cultural Association understand that the authors or rights holders implicitly authorize the screening of the works within the framework of the festival, with no contractual obligation on the part of the festival or the association towards the material or intellectual author of the work or any other management company.
AWARD-WINNING WORKS
The awards will be announced at the Closing Gala to be held on October 25, 2025.
The organization will cover the accommodation expenses of the award winners (maximum two people per work) on the day of the awards ceremony.
Similarly, the trophies will not be sent; the winners will be responsible for paying the transport costs if they request them.
OFFICIAL SECTION AWARDS
The following awards are established for the National Short Film Competition:
o Best International Short Film Award: Trophy
The addition of any other prize not listed in these rules will be announced in due course through the Festival's communication channels (website, press release, etc.).
JURY
The jury for the official section of the National Short Film Competition will be composed of a group of five people related to the world of cinema, art, and design, who will evaluate each of the works based on different criteria that will result in a weighted score among all members.
The composition of the jury will be announced on October 20, 2025, on the festival's website and in the media associated with it.
3. DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM COMPETITION
To be eligible for the Documentary Short Film Competition, works must not meet any requirements regarding nationality of production or direction, must have been produced or made after January 1, 2024, and must not have been entered in previous editions of this Festival.
Films must be submitted in Spanish or in their original version with Spanish subtitles, otherwise the selection committee will not be obliged to view them.
The duration of the works may not exceed 20 minutes.
The works will be submitted on behalf of a person, organization, or company that holds the rights to them or legally represents them. The production and/or distribution companies of the selected or award-winning audiovisual works must include a written reference to the award of said selection or prize at the beginning of each and every copy they distribute for exhibition in theaters, other film competitions, physical copies, television, or VOD (video on demand) platforms, as well as in all informational and promotional material. This reference shall consist of a text with the selection or award, which will be provided by the Aranda International Film Festival organization together with the rules of use.

Selected short films may be screened in any section organized by the Festival, including screenings scheduled outside the official dates of the 3rd edition of the Aranda Film Festival. The festival will inform the selected films about the schedule and screenings.
These screenings outside the festival dates are accepted up to one year after the festival, provided they are for cultural and non-commercial purposes, both in Aranda de Duero and the Ribera del Duero region, promoting cultural democratization in rural areas.
The organization may use excerpts of the works, up to a maximum of 1 minute, for promotional purposes of the films or the festival itself.
The International Film Festival of Aranda de Duero and the cultural association “El Mostacho” understand that authorization by the authors or rightsholders is implicitly granted for the screening of the works within the framework of the festival. No contractual obligation exists on the part of the festival or the association towards the author(s) or any collecting society.
AWARDED WORKS
Winners will be announced during the Closing Gala on October 25, 2025.
The organization will cover accommodation expenses for the award recipients (up to two people per work) on the day of the awards ceremony.
Trophies will not be shipped; recipients must cover shipping costs if they request to have the trophies sent.

JURY
The jury for the official section of the National Short Film Competition will consist of a group of 5 professionals from the fields of cinema, art, and design. They will evaluate each work based on various criteria resulting in a weighted score among all jury members.
The jury's composition will be announced on October 20, 2025, on the festival’s website and associated media outlets.
4. “TALENTO BURGALÉS” SHORT FILM COMPETITION
To be eligible for the “Talento Burgalés” Short Film Competition, the works must have been produced or made from January 1, 2024, and not previously submitted to earlier editions of this Festival.
Works must have been filmed in the province of Burgos or directed/produced by creators residing in Burgos.
Films must be in Spanish or subtitled in Spanish. Otherwise, the selection committee is not obligated to review them.
The maximum duration of the works is 20 minutes.
Entries must be submitted on behalf of an individual, organization, or company holding the rights or legally representing the work.
Producers and/or distributors of selected or awarded films must include a written reference to the selection or award at the beginning of all copies distributed for screening, in festivals, physical copies, television broadcasts, or VOD (video on demand) platforms, as well as on all informational and promotional materials. This reference will consist of a text indicating the selection or award, provided by the organization of the Aranda International Film Festival along with usage guidelines.
Decisions of the Selection Committee and the jury are final.
The festival will be held in person.

The Aranda International Film Festival and the cultural association “El Mostacho” consider implicit the authorization of the authors or rights holders for the screening of the works in the framework of the festival, with no contractual obligations assumed by the organization or the association toward the author or any management entity.
AWARDED WORKS
Winners will be announced during the Closing Gala on October 25, 2025.
The organization will cover the accommodation expenses of the award recipients (maximum two people per work) on the day of the awards ceremony.
If no one from the awarded short film attends the ceremony, trophies will not be sent. If requested, recipients must cover the shipping costs.

The jury members will be announced on October 20, 2025, through the festival’s website and media outlets.
5. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS AND DATA PROTECTION
Submitting an entry implies acceptance of these rules, as well as the decisions made by the organization, selection committee, and jury.
Any unforeseen issues will be resolved by the festival's organizing team.
The organization reserves the right, under exceptional circumstances, to accept works that do not fully meet all criteria.
The organization commits to processing all personal data of participants in accordance with Spanish Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (GDPR).
