The 3 Margens Latin American Film Festival is a film screening and training event that has been taking place since 2017 in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, in the state of Paraná.
Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it extends its activities to two neighboring countries, Puerto Iguazú and Ciudad del Este, Argentina and Paraguay, respectively.
The Festival promotes competitive screenings of short films and also screens invited feature films. All screenings focus on Latin American and Caribbean productions.
The event also features a Screenwriting Lab and the 3 Fronteiras Market meeting, focused on the audiovisual industry of the Triple Frontier.

REGULATIONS
CHAPTER I
OBJECT
Art. 1 – The purpose of this call is to select independent cinematographic works for in-person short film screenings.
CHAPTER II
PURPOSE
Art. 2 – The 3 Margens Latin American Film Festival aims to promote, disseminate, and encourage independent Latin American cinema by fostering interculturality and cultural exchange through the selection of short films in the categories Regional Borders, Latin American and Caribbean, and any other categories that may be included, encouraging new productions through selection and awards.
Paragraph 1 – Short films are defined as fiction, documentary, or animation works with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.
Paragraph 2 – The Regional Borders category includes audiovisual works produced by directors and/or producers residing in the State of Paraná – Brazil; Paraguay; and the Province of Misiones – Argentina. If necessary, short films by filmmakers residing in border areas with Brazil, Argentina, or Paraguay may also be included.
Paragraph 3 – The Latin American category includes audiovisual works by directors and/or producers who have resided for at least 2 years in any country geographically located in Latin America and the Caribbean.
CHAPTER III
SUBMISSIONS
Art. 3 – Submissions for short films in the Regional Borders and Latin American categories may be made by individuals or legal entities.
Paragraph 1 – Eligible short films must have been released from 2024 onward in digital format or digitized.
Paragraph 2 – Each applicant may submit an unlimited number of films; however, no more than one film by the same director will be selected for the festival program.
Paragraph 3 – In the event of awards, payments will be made to the person indicated as the applicant in the submission form and may be subject to applicable taxes under current legislation.
Paragraph 4 – Submissions are free of charge and must be made ONLY via the festival website: https://festival3margens.com/2025/. Physical submissions or submissions via any other means will not be accepted.
Paragraph 5 – These regulations and the submission link will be available on the festival website from July 1, 2025 at https://festival3margens.com/2025/. Submissions are open from July 1, 2025 until August 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
Art. 4 – On finalized submissions:
Paragraph 1 – Selected films will be contacted via the email and/or phone number provided in the submission form.
Paragraph 2 – All costs related to submission and material delivery are the sole responsibility of the applicant.
Paragraph 3 – It is recommended, but not mandatory, to provide subtitles in Portuguese or Spanish for the short film. However, it is mandatory for selected films to include subtitles (embedded or as separate files) in Portuguese (for Spanish-language films) or Spanish (for Portuguese-language films).
Paragraph 4 – Screening materials may be collected by the applicants after their exhibition in coordination with the festival or sent to the addresses indicated in the submission form, if so requested.
Paragraph 5 – Selection of an audiovisual work for the 3 Margens Film Festival program implies its exhibition, and it cannot be withdrawn from the program less than one week before its scheduled screening. The festival reserves the right to use excerpts of the work for promotional materials, as well as for full screenings in traveling showcases.
Art. 5 – For films selected in the competitive categories, the festival requests the presence of one (1) representative of the film crew to present their work in person on the date scheduled by the festival. The event will cover accommodation and meals, and a travel stipend will be provided.
CHAPTER IV
SELECTION PROCESS
Art. 6 – The selection criteria for short films are the responsibility of the curators contracted by the Festival, based on aesthetic, artistic, and cultural guidelines defined by the curators themselves. The 3 Margens Latin American Film Festival is committed to interculturality and to promoting new Latin American filmmakers.
Paragraph 1 – The festival coordination reserves the right to disqualify any film that does not comply with the conditions set out in these regulations.
CHAPTER V
SELECTION COMMITTEE AND JURY
Paragraph 1 – The names of the curators and jury members will be announced in an official statement on the festival's website and social media.
Paragraph 2 – The decisions of the curators and jury are final and non-negotiable.
CHAPTER VI
AWARDS
Art. 9 – Awards will be presented in the following categories:
I – Latin American Competition: Best Film. Trophy. (Official Jury)
II – Regional Borders Competition: Best Film. Trophy. (Official Jury)
III – Competitions: Best Film. Trophy. (Audience Award)
IV – Honorable Mention for a first film by a director. (Student Jury)
Paragraph 1 – Additional Honorable Mentions and awards from partner institutions may be added at the discretion of the festival organization and will be published on the official website and social media: https://festival3margens.com/

Art. 11 – All matters related to copyrights, licenses, sound and image rights, locations, and intellectual property are the sole responsibility of the applicant. The 3 Margens Latin American Film Festival is not liable for any failure to comply with the current laws governing production rights.
Art. 12 – Submitting a film implies full acceptance of the terms set forth in these regulations.
Art. 13 – Questions and requests for information may be sent via the official communication channels of the festival or by email: festival@3margens.com.br
Art. 14 – These regulations may be amended at any time, pending approval by the Festival Coordination and publication on official platforms. The latest version published on the official website will be considered valid: https://festival3margens.com/2025/
Art. 15 – Any omitted cases in these regulations will be analyzed and resolved by the Festival Coordination.
