The CineCircolo Maurizio Grande, based in Diamante (CS) at Via Cavour No. 4—in collaboration with the online magazine MATCHNEWS, Radio DIGIESSE, and FEDIC (Italian Federation of Film Clubs), and partnering with AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL ITALY for the “Human Rights” category—announces the 17th edition of the MEDITERRANEEO FESTIVAL CORTO™, an international short film competition.

The Festival will span five evenings, featuring screenings and award presentations exclusively for the competition winners in the presence of distinguished guests from the film industry, alongside debates, conferences, and in-depth looks or retrospectives focusing on figures of national and/or international significance.

A fee of €10.00 (ten euros) is required for each submitted short film to cover administrative costs.

There are five categories:

Cat. A - FICTION
Cat. B - HUMAN RIGHTS
Cat. C - DOCUMENTARIES
Cat. D - ANIMATED SHORT FILMS
Cat. E - SCHOOL SHORT FILMS
E/1 – Film schools
E/2 – Educational institutions (schools)

Cash Prizes: 800€

SECTION A - Short Films:
Jury President: Emanuele Vezzoli (Actor)

Best Short Film: €500.00 + Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award (created by sculptor Franco Salemme) + certificate with jury statement;

Best Cinematography: Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

Best Actor/Actress: Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

Matchnews Press Award: Matchnews Award + certificate with jury statement;

Best Soundtrack: Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

Special Mention: Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement; to be presented at a dedicated screening and awards evening in December 2027.

SECTION B - Human Rights (Amnesty International Italy):
Jury President: Anna Elena Viggiano (Women's Coordinator, Amnesty International Italy)

Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

SECTION C - Documentaries:
Jury President: Valentina Bisti (RAI Journalist)

Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

SECTION D - Animation – “CUORE MATTO” Award:
Jury President: Gianfranco Tartaglia “Passepartout” (Cartoonist)

Best Short Film: €300.00 + Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

SECTION E – Film Schools:
Jury President: Giorgio Fabiano (Director)

E/1 Best Short Film: Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate with jury statement;

E/2 The jury will be composed of students from a state school (to be determined). Best Short Film: Mediterraneo Festival Corto Award + certificate stating the reasons for the award;

FEDIC Award: At the juries' sole discretion, a FEDIC (Italian Federation of Film Clubs) award will be presented to a deserving work selected from all entries across the various sections of this call for submissions.

Note: Works not in Italian must have Italian subtitles; failure to do so will result in exclusion from the competition.

Sec. A - FICTION: Open theme and genre (fiction, drama, horror, etc.). duration must not exceed 20 (twenty) minutes.

Sec. B - HUMAN RIGHTS (in collaboration with Amnesty International Italy): The theme must specifically address human rights. duration must not exceed 20 (twenty) minutes, including credits.

Sec. C - DOCUMENTARIES: duration must not exceed 20 (twenty) minutes, including credits.

Sec. D - ANIMATED SHORT FILMS: Open theme and genre. duration must not exceed 20 (twenty) minutes, including credits.

Sec. E - SCHOOL SHORT FILMS: Open-theme category comprising two sub-sections:

E/1 – Film schools, reserved for film institutes and/or film courses;

E/2 – Mainstream schools, reserved for students in compulsory education (primary and secondary levels).
duration for both sub-sections must not exceed 20 (twenty) minutes, including credits.
