The L'Hospitalet Short Film Festival celebrates its 20th edition, firmly established as a cultural landmark in the city.

Over the past two decades, it has supported the talent of young filmmakers committed to human rights, cooperation, and a culture of peace.

In this special edition, the festival also places a strong focus on memory and archives as a cross-cutting theme, embracing cinema as a tool to recover stories, preserve them, and use them to imagine and build kinder futures.

Festival prizes are:

• 1st Prize – Memory and Archive: €1,000 cash + trophy

• 2nd Prize – GLOBAL: €700 cash + trophy

• 3rd Prize – GLOBAL: €400 cash + trophy

*Cash prizes will be subject to applicable tax withholdings.

The FCLH Organizing Committee, by unanimous agreement made during the meeting held on July 14, 2025, announces the 2025 edition of the competition and establishes the RULES governing it.

1 – Original short films filmed from January 2023 onward may be submitted for selection, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, including credits. The content can be either documentary or fiction.

2 – The age of the participants at the time their work is completed must be 35 or younger.

3 – The submitted works must address one or more of the following themes: the defense of Human Rights, cooperation, the culture of peace, or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, on the occasion of the 20th edition, the central theme of the festival is memory and archive. For this reason, the first prize will be awarded to a short film that reflects this theme.
Additionally, a new section is launched for short films addressing environmental issues related to human rights.

4 – It is mandatory to submit the short film before October 7, 2025, via the Festhome platform.

5 – Festival prizes are:
• 1st Prize – Memory and Archive: €1,000 cash + trophy
• 2nd Prize – GLOBAL: €700 cash + trophy
• 3rd Prize – GLOBAL: €400 cash + trophy
*Cash prizes will be subject to applicable tax withholdings.

6 – The submission deadline is October 7, 2025, at 11:59 PM (CET).

7 – All short films must be submitted exclusively via the Festhome platform using the following link:

8 – Films not in Catalan or Spanish must include subtitles in one of these two languages.

9 – We inform that the data controllers of the personal data provided are:

The purpose of data collection is to manage participation in the competition. Your data will only be shared in legally required cases or for organizational purposes of the festival, such as with courier companies delivering prizes or similar needs. Once the competition ends, your data may be stored indefinitely for historical purposes. The legal basis for processing is the express consent of the participant.

Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, deletion, opposition, limitation, and portability by sending an email to info@joves.org with the reference "Data Protection", and attaching a copy of their ID or any equivalent identification document. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you have the right to file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

10 – By accepting the registration, the participant declares and guarantees:
a) That they are the author of the work.
b) That they have the authorization of all individuals appearing in the film, including legal guardians in the case of minors, necessary to participate in the GLOBAL category and to authorize the exhibition and distribution of the work under these rules. The participant assumes any responsibility or legal claim that may arise from third parties.
c) That, by registering, they authorize the organization to exhibit the submitted works at festival events and related screenings, including occasional TV broadcast with prior consent, strictly for non-profit purposes and without geographic or time limitations. Submitted works will not be returned and will become part of the festival’s archive.
The organization reserves the right to publish the winning films on social media, or a trailer thereof. If full publication is not authorized, participants must notify the organization and submit a trailer before October 31, 2025, in order to receive the prize.

11 – The organization will verify whether submissions comply with the rules, and forward eligible works to the jury, who will select the winners. The jury's decision is final. Any prize may be declared void.

12 – To receive the prize, the director or a designated representative must attend the Awards Ceremony on November 14, 2025 at 7:00 PM, at Filmax Gran Via 2 Cinemas, L’Hospitalet.

13 – Participation in the GLOBAL category implies full acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen situation or issue not covered herein will be resolved at the discretion of the festival organization. The GLOBAL category is not responsible for any infringement of intellectual property rights related to the submitted works.
