The Coordinating Committee of the “FESOHCURT – Nules Short Film Festival”, by unanimous agreement taken at the meeting held on July 2, 2025, announces the competition for the seventh edition and establishes the RULES that will govern it:
1. The 8th edition of the festival will take place in the town of Nules on October 24 and 25, 2025, at the Caixa Rural Hall. In addition, there will be a festival presentation in the municipality of Xilxes on September 21, 2025. It is a general and competitive festival.
2. FESOHCURT aims to promote the use of Valencian through the creation of short films; therefore, at least 50% of the selected short films must be in Valencian (in any of its dialectal variants). However, short films in other languages may also participate.
3. Any individual or legal entity may participate, either individually or collectively, with short films of any genre and without age limits. Each filmmaker, producer and/or director may submit a maximum of two works. The productions must have been made after January 1, 2024.
4. The subject matter and genre of the productions are open; priority will be given to quality and trendsetting creativity as the main objectives.
5. The short films must be (although not limited to) fiction, animation, and/or documentary. They must have a maximum duration of 15 minutes. Exceptionally, the organizing committee may accept works of a longer duration if it deems appropriate.
6. Submissions can be made via the Festhome platform:
https://festhome.com/festival/fesohcurt
7. Registration is free of charge. The submission and production reception period begins on July 30, 2025, and ends on September 30, 2025. Works with a postmarked date later than this will not be accepted.
8. Advertising works will not be accepted, nor those using more than 10% of non-original material. Works lacking the technical quality necessary for proper viewing will also be rejected.
9. The Coordinating Committee will make a preliminary selection of the submitted works. This decision will be communicated to the person responsible for each selected production.
The OFFICIAL SELECTION will be announced on social media from October 10, 2025.
The creators of the selected works must send an email to fesohcurt@gmail.com with the film’s title in the subject line and attach two or more stills from the film, which may be used as promotional material, along with a brief technical sheet containing the production team’s details. They must also include a downloadable link with the screening copy in .mp4 (H264) format and a minimum resolution of HD (1920x1080).
10. Participants under the age of 18 must have authorization from their legal guardians.
11. Authors must ensure that their work does not infringe intellectual property rights or any third-party rights and will hold the Coordinating Committee harmless from any legal liability.
12. Selected productions will form the OFFICIAL SECTION and will be screened publicly during the Festival. This implies that the authors or producers authorize the screenings. The organization also reserves the right to use the selected works for promotional purposes and/or for future screenings in promotional videos and events related to the festival. Each selected short film will receive €30 as a selection fee. This amount will be subject to the applicable tax deductions.
13. A jury appointed by the Coordinating Committee and composed of at least 4 people will decide the awards in the OFFICIAL SECTION. The jury will consist of professionals of recognized prestige in the audiovisual and cultural sectors.
14. Works filmed in the province of Castellón will also be eligible for selection in the “Best Short Film from Castellón” category and the corresponding award.
15. Works filmed in whole or in part in Nules, Mascarell, or Nules Beach will also be eligible for the “Best Short Film Shot in Nules” award.
16. Works filmed in languages other than Valencian (in any of its dialectal forms) will be eligible for the “Best Short Film in Other Languages” award.
17. All works will be eligible for the Audience Award.
18. There will also be an award for Best Performance in Valencian.
19. In addition, technical awards will be given for Best Soundtrack and Best Production Design. To be eligible for these awards, the respective technicians must have been born in or reside in the Valencian Community.
20. The following eight awards, sponsored by the Nules City Council, are established:
• Best Short Film: trophy and €700
• Best Short Film in Other Languages: trophy and €400
• Audience Award for Best Short Film: trophy and €300
• Best Short Film from Castellón: trophy and €300
• Best Short Film Shot in Nules: trophy and €200
• Best Performance in Valencian: trophy and €100
• Best Soundtrack by a Valencian technician: trophy and €100
• Best Production Design by a Valencian technician: trophy and €100
21. The jury may decide not to award any of the prizes and may also grant special mentions to highlight technical or artistic aspects of any of the competing films. The jury’s decisions are final.
22. The prize payments will be subject to applicable tax deductions.
23. Production companies agree that if they win any of the awards, they may include a written reference to the award at the beginning of any copies of the film distributed for commercial screenings and/or participation in audiovisual events, as well as in printed promotional materials. The Coordinating Committee will provide the official festival laurels to the winners.
24. The closing ceremony and award presentation for all categories will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Caixa Rural Hall.
25. Award winners are required to attend the ceremony to collect their prize, except in exceptional and justified cases (e.g., due to distance), in which case a video should be sent to be screened during the awards ceremony. If the winner does not attend and fails to justify their absence, the prize will be awarded to the second-best short film in that category.
26. Participation in this Festival implies the transfer of broadcasting rights of the submitted images within the scope of the Festival. These materials may be archived by the organization if deemed appropriate and agreed upon with the rights holders. If the selected work is affiliated with SGAE or any other copyright management entity, a certificate of affiliation must be submitted to the Festival. Without this certificate, the Festival assumes no obligation.
27. Any matter not covered by these RULES will be resolved by the Coordinating Committee. Participation in the festival implies acceptance of these RULES.
