The Unproduced Screenplay Competition at the 46th Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema is open to Latin American or Caribbean authors submitting original, unproduced scripts with themes related to Latin America or the Caribbean. Scripts must be written in Spanish and not have been previously awarded or published.
The call for submissions is open from May 5 to August 15, 2025. Applicants must complete the registration form available on the festival's official website: habanafilmfestival.com. Submissions should include the full script, a synopsis, and a brief author biography.
Selected scripts will be evaluated by a specialized jury, and the winner will receive the Coral Award for Unproduced Screenplay, aiming to encourage the creation and development of new cinematic proposals in the region.

UNPRODUCED SCRIPT COMPETITION – LA HABANA
The International Residency in Film Production organized by CIBEF will take place from June 16 to 27, 2025, in Mérida, Yucatán. It targets producers with experience in at least two audiovisual projects. Participants will attend masterclasses by industry experts, develop a complete film project, and gain access to key resources and networking opportunities with Latin American film professionals. The cost is $1,750 USD for foreigners and $27,000 MXN + VAT for nationals. Required documents include a motivation letter, resume, a project in development, and optionally a work reel. Applications close on April 21, 2025. Mérida provides a culturally rich environment ideal for learning and film creation.

CIBEF - International Residency in Film Production
The International Cinematography Residency by CIBEF will take place from August 4 to 15, 2025, in Mérida, Yucatán. It targets intermediate to advanced film students seeking to refine their visual storytelling. The program features theory and hands-on sessions with professional gear, culminating in a final screening at Cinépolis.
Applicants must submit a motivation letter, a sample reel or short video (max 3 minutes), a résumé, and have a laptop with a 1 TB hard drive. Materials must be emailed before June 24, 2025, at 11:50 PM (CDMX time).
The fee is $1,900 USD for international participants and $29,000 MXN for nationals. It covers academic activities, midday meals, and production insurance, but not lodging or transport.

The theme of the scripts is completely free and can belong to any genre.
All submitted works must be original. In the event that the contestant uses a novel, story or text by another author as the basis for the script, the contestant must include the corresponding authorization from the author of the original work in their registration.
