The Arctic International Film Festival "Golden Raven" is being held annually on the territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Region and is the professional competitive screening of cinematic works from around the world. The dates of the festival are agreed annually.
The 10 Arctic International Film Festival "Golden Raven" will take place from March 30 - April 12, 2026.
The festival sets its goals and objectives as following:
• search and promotion of the best modern films related to the Arctic and reflecting various aspects of life in this region;
• attracting the attention of the public and professional community to the topics relevant to the Arctic including ecology, interethnic relations, the continuity of generations, the preservation of traditions and culture, etc.;
• creation of a communication channel and strengthening of cooperation between Russia and the world community through the territories and cultural space of the Far North of the Russian Federation;
• popularization of event and ecological tourism on the territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Region;
• creation and development of a comfortable environment for residents of the Chukotka Autonomous Region;
• development of the film production infrastructure, as well as promotion of the Chukotka Autonomous Region as an attractive and comfortable location for filmmaking;
• search and support of young talented filmmakers creating films in the Arctic region;
• preservation and popularization of the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East.
The Festival is being held by the Youth Initiative Production Center, by the Committee for Culture and Tourism of the Chukotka Autonomous Region, by the Center of Development and Support of Cultural Projects "Golden Raven" and is supported by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, the Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Region, Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Region, the Russian Filmmakers’ Union, AU CHAO Okrkinovideoprokat.
The Festival is composed of the following competition sections:
• international competitive selection of full-length feature and documentary films;
• international competitive selection of full-length animated films;
• international competitive selection of short feature films;
• international competitive selection of short documentary films;
• international competitive selection of short animated films;
• interregional competitive selection "FilmRising!".
Out-of-competition program of the Festival includes:
• full-length and short films;
• animated films;
• other media content at the discretion of the Organizing Committee of the Festival.
The Festival "Golden Raven" is distinguished by the fact that the winners in the main category (The Grand Prix) are chosen not by a jury of experts, but by the viewers, who take part in preferential voting.
The Festival's expert jury includes professional filmmakers from Russia and abroad, and it chooses the winners in the other categories.
Submissions to the Festival will be accepted to November 30, 2025.
Russian submissions are entered online at the Festival’s official web site http://goldenravenfilmfest.ru/ and it is obligatory to send all the materials to section https://goldenravenfilmfest.ru/zayavka.
Foreign submissions are entered for Selection committee via one of online-platforms including Festhome (https://festhome.com/festival/the-golden-raven-international-arctic-film-festival).
The submission to the competitive sections is free.
The Selection Committee of the Festival will make its final decisions no later than on March 25, 2026.

The following prizes are awarded according to the results of the Festival:
•Statuette "THE BIG GOLDEN RAVEN" - Grand-Prix of the Festival for the best film in the full- length feature and documentary films competition according to the results of people's choice;
•Statuette "GOLDEN RAVEN" – the Festival prize for the best film in the full-length feature or documentary films competition according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Statuette "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for best directing in the full-length feature or documentary films competition according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Statuette "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for best script in the full-length feature or documentary films competition according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Statuette "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for best cinematography in the full-length feature or documentary films competition according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for the best film of full-length animated films competition according to the results of people's choice;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for the best film of short feature and documentary films competitions according to the results of people's choice;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for the best short feature film competition according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for the best short documentary film competition according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for the best film of short animated film competition according to the results of children's choice;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - Special Jury Prize for the full-length feature and documentary films competition prize (the nomination and the recipient of the prize are determined by the jury);
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - Special Jury Prize for the short feature and documentary films competitions prize (the nomination and the recipient of the prize are determined by the jury);
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - The prize of the Festival for the best short documentary film competition "FilmRising!" according to the decision of the expert jury;
•Medallion "GOLDEN RAVEN" - Special Prize of the Organizing Committee of the Film (awarded as agreed by the Organizing Committee);
•The Festival Prize for the best film according to the decision of the representatives of the media, film critics and film scholars (Press Award).
None prize can be divided between two or more participants of competitive programs.
Besides the established prizes, the expert jury has the right to award no more than three films participating in each of any competitive programs of full-length feature and documentary films, short feature and short documentary films and "FilmRising!" with a diploma or special mention of the jury (the award includes a diploma; a statuette and a medallion are not provided for these categories of awards).
The Organizing Committee of the Festival, as well as the Partners of the Festival, have the right to establish special prizes and diplomas by agreement.
The Festival Jury and the Festival Organizing Committee have the right not to award any of the above awards based on the results of the Festival events.
International competitive selections of full-length feature, documentary and animated films are reserved for:
•films over 52 minutes;
•films produced after January 1, 2024;
•films dedicated to Arctic or northern topics and reflecting the life of the population of the northern regions of the world; as well as films about the everyday life, and culture of indigenous peoples in different parts of the world, environmental issues, and the relation between man and nature.
International competitive selections of short feature and documentary films are reserved for:
•films less than 52 minutes;
•films produced after January 1, 2024;
•films of any themes and genres.
International competition program of short animated films are reserved for:
•films less than 52 minutes;
•films produced after January 1, 2024;
•films dedicated to Arctic or northern themes and reflecting the life of the population of the northern regions of the world, including indigenous peoples, nature and wildlife and other themes.
Interregional competitive selection "FilmRising!" is reserved for:
•short feature and documentary films less than 30 minutes;
•films produced after January 1, 2024 by authors of the regions of the North, Siberia and the Far East in the territory of residence: regions of the North, Siberia and the Far East and that have never before taken part in this section of the Festival;
•films dedicated to Arctic or northern themes and reflecting the life of the population of the northern regions of the world, including indigenous peoples, nature and wildlife and other themes.
Out-of-competition screenings of feature and documentary films are open for submission of the films of any themes and dates of production.
The presence of obscene language in films is not allowed.
The content of films participating in the competition and non-competition programs of the Festival must not contradict the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Participation in the competitive selection is free of charge.
Application deadlines:
• early deadline (before September 30, 2025);
• regular deadline (before October 31, 2025);
• extreme deadline (before November 30, 2025).
Submissions are entered via one of online-platforms including www.festhome.com.
Submissions to the Festival will be accepted from to November 30, 2025.
The list of the participants of competitive and out-of-competitive sections is created by the Selection Committee and released at the official web site of the Festival https://goldenravenfilmfest.ru/ no later than on March 25, 2026.
Each film selected to the Festival must be accompanied by the following materials:
- the dialogue list, *srt file in English (for foreign films) or Russian language with exact time code;
- the copy of the film for creating subtitling (Full HD, mp4 or Proress file with maximum bitrate);
- synopsis in English and/or in Russian;
- festival history of the film in English and/or Russian;
- biography in English and/or in Russian and photo of the director;
- stills from the film (no less than 300 dpi);
- poster of A1 format (*psd and *jpeg in parameters suitable for high-quality printing);
- trailer or teaser of the film;
- a copy of the film's distribution certificate (if available, for Russian participants);
- a copy of the national film certificate (if available, for Russian participants);
- consent of the copyright holder to show the film as part of the Festival
- other press, advertising and promotional materials if available.
For the participation in the Festival the right holder of the film must supply to the Festival a copy of the film. The accepted screening format is DCP. The film should be provided in its original language subtitled in Russian or in english if the original language is neither Russian nor english.
The participation of the film in the competitive sections implies the personally presence of the director or of a leading member of the cast of the film at the Festival. In case the director and/or the leading member of the cast have no opportunity to attend the Festival, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to keep the film in the competition program in case it will be represented by the leading member of the film crew.
The Festival has the right to use all visual materials related to the selected films including excerpts from the films (no longer than 3 minutes each) in order to promote the Festival and Festival’s events and to inform the auditory.
