XII Edition Pávez Awards - Talavera de la Reina International Film Festival. From October 3 to 11, 2025.
GOYA, FORQUÉ & FUGAZ AWARDS QUALIFYING FESTIVAL.
- Short films of Spanish or Ibero-American production and/or direction.
- Short films produced from January 1, 2024.
- Spanish spoken language or original language with spanish subtitles.
- Maximum running time: 30 minutes with credits included.
- They may not be hosted on free viewing online platforms.
- 5 competitive sections: National (Official Section), International (Ibero-America), Local (Talavera de la Reina), Animation and Documentary.
- 18 categories opting for a prize.
- 5700 euros + 18 Pávez awards.
- DCP required for Official, International and Local Selection.

The Pávez awards – Talavera de la Reina International Film Festival, organised by the Trax Trex Trix Cultural Association, aim to promote audiovisual culture by supporting short films and their creators. The festival encourages the exploration of new forms of cinematic language and storytelling. Through a diverse, innovative, and inclusive programme, it is committed to accessibility, film education, and fostering a sustainable cultural landscape.
DATES
The 12th edition of the festival will take place from 3rd to 11th October 2025 in Talavera de la Reina.
The full programme will be available on our website and social media and will be communicated in advance to the representatives of the selected works.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Participation is open to all individuals over the age of 18 from any Ibero-American country (Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay, and Venezuela), as well as residents of these territories. Additionally, legally registered entities from these countries that hold the rights to the submitted short films may also participate.
Both fiction and non-fiction (documentary) works, in live action or animation, are accepted.
All films must include Spanish subtitles.
Short films submitted to the competition must not be publicly available on any online platform for free viewing.
Works created entirely using AI (Artificial Intelligence) must include a signed declaration specifying how AI was used in the production.
At least one member of the technical and/or artistic team of the shortlisted films must attend the festival's closing ceremony on Saturday, 11th October 2025, to be eligible for an award.
There are four submission categories: National, International, Regional, and Local (to determine the origin of the submitted films). Films can compete in five sections: Official Selection (Spain), Talavera en Corto (Local), International Selection (Ibero-America), Animation Section, and Documentary Section. Short films selected for the Official Selection and the AnimaDocu Section (Animation and Documentary) will be chosen from entries in the National, Regional, and Local categories.
Additionally, there are several non-competitive showcase sections. Any film submitted to the festival may be considered for inclusion in these showcase sections at the discretion of the Selection Committee. These films will not be eligible for awards.
All competing films must have been produced after 1st January 2024.
The maximum duration of short films must not exceed 30 minutes (30:00), including credits.
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
OFFICIAL NATIONAL SECTION
A short film must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Directed by a filmmaker who is either a Spanish national or a resident in Spain.
Filmed in Spain.
Produced by a company with a registered tax address in Spain.
INTERNATIONAL SECTION
A short film must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Directed by a filmmaker who is either a national or resident of an Ibero-American country (Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay, or Venezuela).
Filmed in one of the aforementioned countries.
Produced by a company with a registered tax address in one of the aforementioned countries.
ANIMADOCU SECTION
Animation Category: Submitted short films must be fully animated.
Documentary Category: Includes documentary films.
TALAVERA EN CORTO (LOCAL SECTION)
A short film must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Directed by a filmmaker who is either a natural-born resident or officially registered in Talavera de la Reina.
Filmed in Talavera de la Reina.
Produced by a company with a registered tax address in Talavera de la Reina.
PÁVEZ CMM (REGIONAL SECTION – CASTILLA-LA MANCHA)
A short film must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Directed by a filmmaker who is either a natural-born resident or officially registered in Castilla-La Mancha.
Filmed in Castilla-La Mancha.
Produced by a company with a registered tax address in Castilla-La Mancha.
SUBMISSION
The submission period for short films will be open from Monday, 24th March to Sunday, 15th June 2025.
SUBMISSION PERIODS & FEES
National & Regional Films
Free Submission Period – Until 31st March 2025
No submission fee during this period.
Standard Submission Period – Until 31st May 2025
€3 submission fee
Late Submission Period – Until 15th June 2025
€6 submission fee.
Local Films
Local films can be submitted following the same deadlines and platforms as described above.
Additionally, to encourage and support cinema produced in Talavera de la Reina, short films that wish to participate exclusively in the Talavera en Corto (Local Section) may be submitted for free via THIS FORM (also available on the festival’s website).
International Films
Standard Submission Period – Until 31st May 2025
€5 submission fee.
Late Submission Period – Until 15th June 2025
€10 submission fee.
FESTIVAL PROCESS
Selected Films: Short films chosen for screening in either a competitive or non-competitive section of the festival.
Nominated Films: Short films that, after evaluation by the relevant jury, receive a nomination and the chance to win awards at the Pávez awards ceremony. Each category will have four (4) nominees.
Winning Films: Determined by the jury's final decision for each section. There will be one (1) winner per category.
SELECTION PROCESS
A Selection and Viewing Committee, formed equitably by members of the Pávez awards organising team, will select short films for the Official Selection, International Selection, and AnimaDocu Section (both Animation and Documentary categories) for further evaluation by the jury. The committee is also responsible for programming the non-competitive showcase sections.
For the Local Section, the selection committee will consist of recognised figures from Talavera de la Reina. The committee commits to reviewing all submitted works and reserves the right to reject any film that does not meet the technical quality standards required for theatrical screening.
The selection committee will highly value films with an ICAA rating certificate, as well as those premiering at the festival.
Notification & Acceptance
Selected participants will be notified via email and/or phone call between July and August 2025.
Once notified, filmmakers will have 15 calendar days to accept the selection and submit the required materials.
Failure to respond within this period will be considered a withdrawal, and the festival may exclude the film from participation.

Selected participants must submit the following within 15 calendar days of accepting the selection:

Technical sheet
Director's biofilmography
These materials will be used exclusively for promotional purposes.
Screening Copies
All selected films must be submitted in .MOV or .MP4 format, in the highest possible quality, with Spanish subtitles (both embedded and separate files).
Additionally, for films in the Official, International, and Local Sections, the festival also requires a DCP copy.
If available, audio description and special subtitles for accessibility should be provided along with the other materials.
All files must be sent within 15 calendar days of selection confirmation.
JURIES
OFFICIAL JURY: Composed of distinguished professionals from the national cultural and audiovisual arts sector. This jury will determine the nominations and select the winners in each technical and artistic category from the Official Selection. Nominations (four per category) will be announced in September 2025.
INTERNATIONAL JURY: Made up of prominent figures from the international cultural sector and/or professionals dedicated to promoting Ibero-American cinema.
YOUTH JURY: Composed of young individuals with a strong interest in cinema. This jury will watch and evaluate the short films in the AnimaDocu Section and will be responsible for awarding the Best Animation and Best Documentary prizes.
LOCAL JURY: Formed by notable figures from the cultural scene in Talavera de la Reina and/or Castilla-La Mancha. This jury will select the Best Local Film.
CMM AWARD JURY: Made up of professionals from the regional public television network, who will decide the Pávez CMM Award for Best Castilla-La Mancha Film.
The decisions made by the Selection Committee and the jury panels are final and non-appealable. The jury reserves the right to withhold an award if deemed appropriate.
Awards
The total prize fund amounts to €5,700 and 18 Pávez statuettes. ALL awards INCLUDE A CASH PRIZE.
The cash prizes are subject to the applicable tax deductions as per current regulations and will be paid upon submission of the corresponding invoice.

€1,500 + Qualification for the Goya awards
Competes in the Official Selection.
PÁVEZ CMM AWARD FOR BEST REGIONAL FILM
€1,000 for the purchase of exhibition rights by the Castilla-La Mancha Public Television.
Open to all filmmakers and/or producers from Castilla-La Mancha, as well as films shot in Castilla-La Mancha, regardless of which competitive section they are selected for.
The Pávez awards Organisation will facilitate contact between the winner and the TV station to sign the relevant contract.

PRE-SELECTION FOR THE GOYA, FORQUÉ, AND FUGAZ awards
The Pávez awards are part of the list of qualifying festivals for the Goya awards in the categories of Best Fiction Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film, and Best Animation Short Film, through its Official Selection and the Pávez awards for Best National Film and Best Animated Film.
The Pávez awards are also qualifying for the Forqué awards and the Fugaz awards, through the Pávez Award for Best National Film.
LEGAL AGREEMENTS
The material received from the short films that are ultimately selected will be archived by the association.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that the works submitted are not subject to any legal claims and comply with the Intellectual Property Law. In any case, the festival organization disclaims any responsibility for illegal content in the received works.
The organization reserves the right to exhibit the selected short films during the festival and to use images and promotional material from the films for advertising and/or promotional purposes for the event in any of its editions.
Once the festival has concluded, the selected works may become part of the Pávez awards Circuit, which includes non-profit agreements signed with festivals and non-profit entities for the exhibition of selected short films. These works will be screened with the consent of their creators, and they will be informed well in advance about the screening sessions and exhibition conditions.
Participants are informed that the festival may make the entire program or part of it available to the public online. Therefore, submission to the festival is subject to acceptance of this condition. The short films will be hosted on a secure platform, requiring prior registration for viewing.
All participants fully accept these legal terms, as well as the resolution by the organization of any issues not covered in them.
The organization reserves the right to modify these rules if necessary. Any changes will be communicated to all participants.

2. Shortfilm shot in some of the one countries mencioned above.
3. Producer with registered office in some of countries mencioned above.
The maximum duration of the short films will be 30 minutes (30:00) with credits included.
Shortfilms registered in this section will only be eligible for the following award:
- BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM: Premio Pávez statuette + 500 euros economic prize.
