Construir Cine is the only International Film Festival on Work in Argentina. Its next edition will take place in Buenos Aires from May 5 to May 9, 2026, exclusively online for the Argentine Republic.
Construir Cine celebrates national and international cinema with the dual objective of recognizing and supporting filmmakers and of improving dissemination, knowledge, accessibility and understanding of socio-labor themes among a broad and diverse audience.
Construir Cine is organized by the UOCRA Foundation for the Education of Construction Workers (hereinafter the Organizer) and is supported by UOCRA CULTURA and PAMPA 2030 (Argentine Platform for Monitoring the 2030 Agenda). The festival belongs to the Global Labor Film Festival, an entity that groups labor film festivals worldwide, and to RAFMA: Argentine Network of Festivals and Audiovisual Showcases.
“CONSTRUIR CINE” is an innovative proposal intended to offer quality entertainment with social awareness. A lucid and sensitive view of the world of work.
AWARDS FOR ALL COMPETITIONS:
1 winner will be selected in each competition for Best Film, along with any Special Mentions the jury may deem appropriate.
The juries will carry out the selection process following two criteria: CONTENT and FILMMAKING.
Content: it will be taken into account whether the works genuinely portray an experience, situation, or reality related to the world of work, and whether the narrative approach highlights the revaluation of work culture in all its dimensions.
Filmmaking: it will be taken into account whether the contestant has used the most appropriate narrative and technical resources to tell the story.
The jury’s decision will be final and not subject to appeal.

Article I.
Objective and Categories
The “FUNDACIÓN UOCRA” organizes the 13th edition of “Construir Cine: International Labour Film Festival” which seeks to foster creativity and support the dissemination of audiovisual works that contain stories about work and workers, privileging the point of view of these workers about the world and about social issues that affect their daily work, the lives of their families and the reality of the community to which they belong.
Official Competitive Sections:
International Feature Film Competition: feature films of fiction, documentary or animation with a duration equal to or greater than 52 minutes, regardless of country of origin.
International Short and Mid-length Competition: shorts of fiction, documentary or animation up to 51 minutes in duration, regardless of country of origin.
Official Non-Competitive Section:
SDG Focus (Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda): audiovisual works of all genres, formats and durations are accepted provided their theme is related to or addresses one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
Article II.
Eligibility of material.
(i) Content: Works must tell stories linked to work and workers. Authorial, critical and reflective proposals that contribute to the debate on a just transition toward greater social, economic and environmental justice are privileged.
(ii) Premieres: Premieres in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires will be prioritized, although this is not an exclusive requirement.
(iii) Technical requirements: See Art. VI.
(iv) language: Works in any language are accepted provided they obligatorily include Spanish subtitles (see Art. VI).
(v) Production date: Works produced from 01/01/2024 inclusive will be accepted.
(vi) Prohibited content: Works that promote discrimination, offend the integrity of persons or institutions, or contain explicit sex or violence contrary to morality or good customs will not be accepted.
Themes of interest (examples, not exhaustive):
Gender equality, care work and discrimination or violence in workplace settings; feminist struggles.
Disability and work.
LGBTIQ+ rights (identity, health, employment).
Rights and issues related to older adults and persons with disabilities..
Education.
Child labor and forced labor.
Future of work and its challenges. Social protection in the face of new forms of work.
Labor rights and trade union representation.
Climate change and its socio-labor impacts.
Inequality, food security and access to basic services.
Rights of indigenous communities and environmental defense.
Sustainable production and consumption.
Works that do not include the labor theme will be excluded from the competition.

Participants:
Natural persons over 18 years old and/or legal entities may participate.

Construir Cine reserves the right to recategorize submitted works.
In all cases submission is due at 00:00 Argentina time on the closing day.
Article V.
Registration:
Registration is free of charge for the films originating from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). For other origins an administrative fee of USD 5 (five US dollars) will apply.
Multiple submissions per participant are allowed, one per work, each registered individually.
Registrations only through Festhome.
The submission of material must comply with the provisions of Art. VI.
Construir Cine is not responsible for errors or losses in receipt. Registration implies full acceptance of these rules, their modifications and the Organizer’s decisions.
Failure to comply with technical or administrative requirements voids participation.
Article VI.
Presentation of material:
i. Registration:
For works whose original language is not Spanish, they must include subtitles or dubbing in Spanish; only for this stage works whose original language is english or with subtitles or dubbing in english will be accepted. If the material is preselected, Spanish subtitles or dubbing will be mandatory. For any queries contact info@construircine.com
ii. Preselection:
Works that are preselected must send:
1) Link with two high-quality stills from the work plus one photo of the Director.
2) Download link of the material for screening, with access password. The file must meet at minimum the following conditions:
a) Codec: H.264
b) Container: .mov or .mp4
c) Bit rate: minimum 20 Mbit/s Constant bit rate or higher
d) Format: FULL HD 1080 50i or 1080 25p or 1080 60i or 1080 30p
e) AUDIO STEREO CHANNEL 2: 1 & 2 Stereo full MIX
g) Materials whose original audio language is Spanish must be sent without subtitles. Materials whose original language is not Spanish must obligatorily include Spanish subtitles.
h) The material must be presented clean, without charts or countdown.
Shipments by courier or private mail will not be accepted since Argentine customs usually retain packages with audiovisual content. The Festival will not be responsible for possible retentions or additional costs incurred by shipments made by this means.
Article VII.
Juries and Selection Process.
(i) JURY:
The jury for each of the competitive competitions will be composed of at least 3 (three) personalities of outstanding career in the audiovisual industry or distinguished experts in the festival’s theme. All registration, preselection and winner selection processes will be supervised by Construir Cine and/or the contest sponsors.
(ii) SELECTION PROCESS
The winners’ selection process will have two rounds: 1) preselection and 2) final selection of winners.
(iii) awards FOR ALL COMPETITIONS:
One winner will be chosen for each competition as best film and the mentions that the jurors consider.
The jurors will carry out the selection process following two criteria: CONTENT and FILMMAKING.

The persons responsible for the films selected for any of Construir CINE’s Competitive Competitions commit to include in all their press and publicity material the phrase “Official Selection CONSTRUIR CINE: International Labour Film Festival” or the Festival’s palmares.
Article VIII.
Right of use and liability:
All participants guarantee at the time of registration that they are the exclusive holders of the copyright on the work, without infringing third-party rights.
At the time of registering in the contest, participants, whether natural or legal persons, will automatically authorize the Organizer and its sponsors to use, with full rights, expressly, definitively, irrevocably, without any encumbrance, the use of their name, image and voice, in photos, files and/or digital media, as well as posters, film and/or spots, jingles and/or vignettes, in any type of media and/or promotional pieces, including television, radio, newspapers, billboards, mailings, for the broad dissemination of this contest and its subsequent editions.
Likewise, at the time of registration, the participant guarantees that the film(s) presented in the contest are free of any claim by authors, actors, performers, collecting societies, unions and of any encumbrance, restriction, inhibition or any impediment or limitation to their distribution, reproduction, commercialization and/or exhibition, without temporal limitation nor in number of screenings nor territorial limitation.
By virtue of the foregoing, the participant will assume and must bear all costs and expenses of the defense of any judicial or extrajudicial claim against the Organizer based on the claim that the commercialization, distribution, reproduction, use and/or disposal of the programs or parts thereof, in the state in which they were delivered by the participant, is contrary to the contracts, authorizations, commercial, professional and/or labor agreements that the participant has obtained for their production, the participant being required to assume all expenses, costs and legal fees in the event of a judicial ruling that holds the Organizer liable for such matters.
The Participant will be responsible for the content and form of each of the programs they submit to the contest, guaranteeing that they do not violate the right to privacy, intimacy or any other rule imposed by the relevant supervisory authorities, assuming full responsibility for damages that may result from their use and exhibition and obliging the participant to keep the Organizer indemnified from any claim that may arise from this.
Assignment of rights of the selected films
All selected films assign to the ORGANIZER the exhibition rights of the Work during the course of the International Film Festival – CONSTRUIR CINE – to be held during May 2026 in the Argentine Republic in online format exclusively for the Argentine Republic.
The Festival reserves the right to organize in-person screenings, which will have the characteristics of SPECIAL SCREENINGS, during the festival days.
The programming grid, as well as the designation of screening rooms, and/or online exhibition will be determined by the ORGANIZER, at its sole discretion. There is no obligation on the part of the ORGANIZER to hold in-person screenings for any of the selected films.
Selected films may be included, after the Festival, in non-profit traveling cycles (online or in-person) organized throughout the country during the year; this assignment ceases on April 30, 2027. In the case of international showcases, the programming proposal will be limited to the explicit authorization of the filmmakers.
Article IX.
Applicable law and jurisdiction:
These regulations shall be interpreted and applied in accordance with Argentine law.
In case of litigation, discrepancy, matter or claim arising from the execution or interpretation of these regulations, directly or indirectly, the parties expressly submit to the jurisdiction of the Argentine Republic, in particular to the Ordinary Courts of the Federal Capital of the Argentine Republic, expressly waiving any other laws and courts that could be applicable by virtue of their present or future domiciles.

Acceptance of terms and conditions:
Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions. They may be read and downloaded from the website festival.construircine.com
The contest organizers reserve the right to modify the deadlines and dates established in these terms and conditions.
