Among the peaks that stand out against the sky and the deep silence of the valleys that preserve ancient stories, “Alte Visioni│Erto Film Festival” is born. It 's not just a film festival but a bridge of light and images thrown between the past and the future, between the memory and resilience of a territory unique in the world: Erto and Casso.

The purpose is twofold and deeply rooted in this land.

First, to honor the memory and learn from it. Erto and Casso are places that bear the scars of Vajont, an eternal reminder of the fragile balance between man and the environment. However, the mountains have also been the scene of epic historical events—think of the trenches of the First and Second World Wars or the transit routes and natural fortresses that have shaped entire civilizations and conflicts. With our awards and screenings, we want to create a space for deep reflection, where memory is not just a recollection but becomes a tool for awareness. We want cinema to help us explore the lessons of the past, understand the complexities of human choices, and promote an ethic of responsibility towards our planet and future generations. Every image projected will be a tribute to those who are no longer with us and an invitation to build a better tomorrow.

Secondly, to celebrate resilience, rebirth, and mountain life, which is not only a memory of tragedies. It is also living testimony to the unstoppable force of nature and the tenacity of the human spirit. Like some trees in the Bosco Vecchio forest, which were able to take root again after the landslide and whose branches have become new life, our community has been able to get back on its feet and look ahead. The festival aims to highlht this capacity for rebirth, the wild and untamed beauty of our mountains, the culture that animates them, and the new perspectives that are opening up. We want cinema to be a tool for telling stories of hope, adaptation, sustainability, and the deep connection between humans and the nature that surrounds them.

Best Short Film Award (awarded by the jury).

Best Documentary Award (awarded by the jury).

“Monte Toc” Award: award dedicated to the short film or documentary that most effectively and profoundly addresses and develops one or more of the following themes related to memory and responsibility:
1) the preservation and testimony of the historical memory of traumatic events related to the environment;
2) the analysis of the causes, responsibilities (human and institutional) and lessons learned from such events;
3) the promotion of environmental disaster prevention and safety in mountain areas;
4) the exploration of the social, ethical and cultural impact of catastrophic events on communities.

“Bosco Vecchio” Award: an award dedicated to the short film or documentary that, with the greatest sensitivity and inspiration, investigates and recounts one or more of the following themes related to resilience and rebirth:

1) stories of resilience in nature and mountain communities in the face of challenges, disasters, or trauma;
2) the adaptability, rebirth, and regeneration of ecosystems and life in the mountains;
3) narratives of hope and overcoming adversity, showing the process of reconstruction (physical, social, or spiritual) and the discovery of new opportunities after difficulties;
4) the celebration of the vitality, wild beauty, and authenticity of mountain environments and their species.

Article 1 - Theme and objective

The festival is dedicated to mountains in all their facets. Its objective is to promote short films and documentaries that explore the complex relationship between humans and mountains, investigating not only the environmental aspect but also the historical memory in which mountains have played a decisive role in shaping human events. The festival also aims to celebrate resilience and rebirth, in order to stimulate awareness and respect for this unique environment.

Article 2 - Categories and duration
The festival includes two main competitive categories:

SHORT FILMS: fiction or animated works with a maximum duration of 30 minutes (including opening and closing credits);

DOCUMENTARIES: documentary works with a maximum duration of 52 minutes (including opening and closing credits).

Works exceeding the duration limit will not be accepted.

Article 4 - Admission of works

Year of production: there are no restrictions on the year of production of the works submitted.

language and subtitles: works that are not originally in Italian must be subtitled in both Italian and english.

Theme: works must be relevant to the theme of mountains as described in Article 1.

Article 5 - Registration procedures and required material

Registration for the festival is free and can only be done via the Festhome platform.

The following material must be submitted:

link to the work for online viewing;
technical data sheet;
subtitles in Italian and english (in .SRT format or included in the video file, provided that both are present) if selected for screening;
synopsis in Italian and english;
high-resolution poster of the work (JPG format);
4 or 5 high-resolution photos of the production;
short CV of the director and author, if different from the director.

Article 6 - Selection and acceptance

The festival management and a selection committee will review the submitted works and select those admitted to the final stage.

The directors and/or producers of the selected works will be notified by email by January 10, 2026, and must send the file in high definition with subtitles in .SRT format or included in the video file for public screening by January 24, 2026. subtitles MUST BE IN ITALIAN AND english.

Acceptance of the invitation to the festival implies authorization to screen the work during the event without payment of any compensation.

The festival reserves the right to use excerpts from the selected works (maximum 30 seconds) and the promotional material sent (posters, photos) for advertising, promotional, and publicity purposes.

Article 7 - Final provisions

Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of all points of these regulations. For any dispute not covered by these regulations, the final and unappealable decision of the festival management shall prevail.
