For this reason since 2011 we run the International Biennal Dona i Cinema – Mujer y Cine – Woman & Film, a week dedicated to cinema made by and for women, with the exhibition of a selection of features, shorts, documentaries, animation and video art. All made by women.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
VIII INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL DONA I CINEMA
MUJER Y CINE – WOMAN & FILM
1. OBJECTIVE
Dona I Cinema aims to generate a live space of artistic and social creation and investigation. A space led by women, which divulgates their works and productions, promoting equal opportunities in Cinema and fostering the end of discriminative practices towards women.
For this reason, since 2011 we run the International Biennial Dona i Cinema – Mujer y Cine – Woman & Film, a week dedicated to cinema made by and for women, with the exhibition of a selection of features, shorts, documentaries, animation and video art. All made by women.
The biennial will celebrate its 8th edition next January 2025.
2. SECTIONS AND ELEGIBILITY
A. FEATURE FICTION: Feature fiction films on any subject with a minimum running time of 70 minutes.
B. FEATURE DOCUMENTARY: Feature documentary films on any subject with a minimum running time of 30 minutes.
C. SHORT FICTION: Short fiction films on any subject with a maximum running time of 15 minutes.
D. SHORT DOCUMENTARY: Short documentary films on any subject with a maximum running time of 30 minutes.
E. VIDEO ART: Short videoart films on any subject with a maximum running time of 15 minutes.
F. ANIMATION: animation films on any subject and of any running time.
All films must comply with the following conditions in order to participate in the pre-selection process:
- The director must be a woman (or several women) from anywhere in the world. Co-directions with men are not
eligible.
- Being produced after January 2021.
3. INSCRIPTION AND FEES
The final deadline to submit a film is 28th of Sept 2024.
There are several deadlines associated to different fees:
Early-bird > from 29th of July to 18th of August 2024
5€ for Feature Films (fiction and documentaries);
2€ for Animation and Short Films (fiction, documentaries and videoart).
Regular > from 19th of August to 8th of Sept 2024
7€ for Feature Films (fiction and documentaries);
3€ for Animation and Short Films (fiction, documentaries and videoart).
deadline > from 9th of June to the final deadline 28th of Sept 2024
10€ for Feature Films (fiction and documentaries);
5€ for Animation and Short Films (fiction, documentaries and videoart).
Submission can be made through the platform: Festhome, (Feature and Shorts.
Films whose original language is different than Spanish, must be subtitled in Spanish or english for the pre-selection process.
4. SELECTION, MATERIALS AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS
The Selection Committee designated by the organization of the festival will make the selection of the works that will participate in the event. The person that submitted the film will be notified about the selection and will be instructed about the sending of the material needed for the projection and promotion.
Once the selection has been communicated and the participation in the festival has been accepted, the films selected to participate in the VIII Women and Cinema Biennial will have to provide the following material:
• Digital copy of the film. It will have to be of sufficient quality to screened on a large screen and occupy between 3 and 6 GB. MOV or MP4 (H.264) formats, Full HD (1080).
• List of dialogues in english or Spanish
• English subtitle file (.srt)
• Stills (at least 3) and poster of the work in digital format in high resolution (300ppp)
• Photo of the director
• In a single doc (PDF and Word): Logline, synopsis, bio-filmography of the director, technical and artistic file, history of Festivals.
• Specify type of Premiere as of January 2025
• Trailer (if available): downloadable link.
The costs of shipping the material will be covered by the participants. Projections copies will not be returned and will become part of Dona i Cinema’s filmic archive.
The organization will not make any payment to the director, producer or distributor to project their film during the festival, neither for exhibition rights nor for any other concept.
The authors will cede the rights for the public exhibition of their films during the e Biennial without any charge. This includes shows and screenings organized by the festival throughout the year.
The screenings will always be in the original version with subtitles in Spanish and english.
The authors of the selected works give permission to the festival organization to use part of their works for promotional uses of the festival.
The authors of the award-winning films give permission to the festival organization to screen their works in future editions or activities of the festival.
Once a film has been selected to compete at the festival, it cannot be withdrawn before its last screening.
If, for reasons beyond the control of the organization, the festival changes its dates or does not take place, the organization will notify producers and distributors sufficiently in advance.
5. PRIZES AND JURY
The International Biennial Dona i Cinema will award a Statuette to each of the contest sections that will be communicated during the Biennial Closing Ceremony. There are no cash prizes.
A jury, formed by specialists in different areas of the film industry, will be in charge of the decision. Jury decision is final.
6. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
The submission implies the acceptance of these rules and regulations.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
