The question as to what is meant by the term “extreme” can be understood by looking at the content of our wide selection of fantastic films. “Extreme” is often defined by an explicit splatter aesthetic but it can also be represented by unusual story-telling methods or an exotic visual language. Thus, we are meticulously selecting such examples that could be important in the future of the genre. The Barcelona Olympic Foundation, with the support of the Barcelona City Council, organizes the BCN Sports Film 2027 – 17th BARCELONA INTERNATIONAL FICTS FESTIVAL and forms part of the WORLD FICTS CHALLENGE 2027.

The BCN Sports Film 2027 will take place in Barcelona on dates yet to be determined during February of 2027. In this seventeenth edition, the festival will have a competitive nature.

The seventeenth edition of the festival will have a hybrid format so, there will be face-to-face screenings and online screenings. The rights that the authors assign, therefore, are both for the face-to-face sessions that are held in the official venues of the contest, as well as for the sessions that will be held online through an online platform.

WELCOME TO SHORTS WRAP

Shorts Wrap organizes a curated screening of auteur short films, taking place from 11–13 December 2026 at the iconic Kino Úsmev in Košice, Slovakia. The Best Short Film will receive the Golden Fountain Award, which includes a €1,000 cash prize and a mentorship programme supporting the director's next short film project.

In collaboration with the Košice International Film Festival, Shorts Wrap also offers participants a programme of workshops, masterclasses, and networking events with fellow filmmakers and industry professionals.

Shorts Wrap collaborates with more than 10 film directors, screenwriters, and producers whose works have premiered in the Short Film Competition or La Cinef (student short films) section of the Cannes Film Festival.
