The Reloncaví International Film Festival (FICRELONCAVÍ) is a cinematic event organized by the Fundación Cinematográfica del Territorio Sur de Chile, created with the aim of strengthening the circulation of independent cinema, promoting new perspectives on territories, and contributing to audience development in the Los Lagos Region.

Its first edition will take place from November 12 to 15, 2026, in the city of Puerto Montt, featuring a programme that brings together national and international films, cultural mediation activities, educational initiatives, filmmaker encounters, and community screenings across a variety of cultural and educational venues throughout the region.

FICRELONCAVÍ defines itself as a festival of "Cinema from the Edge", a curatorial approach that brings together films exploring life on the margins: the edge between sea and land, urban and rural environments, memory and the present, peripheral territories and major audiovisual production centers.

Rather than a geographical boundary, the "edge" represents a point of view from which to observe the world. It is a space where stories connected to territorial identities, communities, coastal and island cultures, processes of social transformation, the relationship between nature and society, childhood, memory, cultural heritage, and new ways of inhabiting territories come together.

The festival aims to establish itself as a permanent platform for the promotion of auteur cinema, exchange among filmmakers, cultural decentralization, and audience development, fostering connections between national and international creators and the communities of southern Chile.

FICRELONCAVÍ's highest distinction is the "Alerce Shingle" (Tejuela de Alerce) statuette, inspired by one of the most iconic elements of the traditional architecture of southern Chile and symbolizing protection, memory, and the enduring identity of its territories.

2026 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
I RELONCAVÍ INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
"Edge Cinema, Territory, and New Perspectives"

1. MEANING AND IDENTITY
The Reloncaví International Film Festival (FICRELONCAVÍ) is a cinematic gathering organized by the Cinematographic Foundation of the Southern Territory of Chile. It was created with the purpose of strengthening the circulation of independent cinema, promoting new perspectives on territories, and contributing to audience development in the Los Lagos Region.

Its first edition will take place between November 12 and 15, 2026, in the city of Puerto Montt, articulating a program that will bring together national and international works, cultural mediation activities, training, encounters with filmmakers, and community screenings in various cultural and educational spaces within the territory.

FICRELONCAVÍ defines itself as an "Edge Cinema" festival, a curatorial perspective that brings into dialogue those cinematographies that inhabit the margins: the edge between the sea and the land, between the urban and the rural, between memory and the present, and between peripheral territories and major audiovisual production centers.

More than a geographical border, the edge constitutes a position from which to observe the world. In this space, stories related to territorial identities, communities, coastal and island cultures, social transformation processes, relationships between nature and society, childhood, memory, heritage, and new ways of inhabiting territories converge.

The Festival seeks to establish itself as a permanent platform for the dissemination of auteur cinema, the exchange between filmmakers, cultural decentralization, and audience development, fostering the encounter between national and international creators and the communities of the deep south of Chile.

2. VENUES
The first edition of the Reloncaví International Film Festival will be held from November 12 to 15, 2026, in the city of Puerto Montt, Los Lagos Region, Chile.

The official activities of the Festival will primarily take place at the Diego Rivera Cultural Corporation, Casa Pauly, Puerto Montt Historical Museum, University of Los Lagos, Casa Teatro, and other cultural spaces determined by the organization as part of its programming.

In coherence with its territorial vocation, FICRELONCAVÍ also includes an extension and circulation program through free screenings and audience development activities that may be held in educational and community establishments in the Los Lagos Region, with the purpose of expanding access to independent cinema and strengthening the bond between the works, their creators, and the communities.

The organization reserves the right to incorporate new venues or modify locations, dates, times, or activities due to programming reasons, space availability, technical conditions, or force majeure, always seeking to safeguard the proper development of the Festival. Any modifications will be promptly communicated through FICRELONCAVÍ's official channels.

3. OFFICIAL CALL CALENDAR
The call to participate in the first edition of the Reloncaví International Film Festival – FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 will be governed by the official calendar (dates not provided in the original text, but refer to the official calendar).

The organization may modify any of these milestones for well-founded technical, logistical, programmatic, or force majeure reasons. Any modifications will be promptly communicated through the official website (www.ficreloncavi.com) and the Festival's official channels.

The reception of submissions will automatically close once the indicated deadline is met. Late submissions will not be accepted, regardless of the method used to send them.

4. OFFICIAL CATEGORIES
The competitive programming of the first edition of the Reloncaví International Film Festival – FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 will consist of four official categories that seek to recognize works with an auteur's perspective, committed to territories, communities, and the diverse ways of inhabiting the world.

The Festival will prioritize films that dialogue with the curatorial axes of "Edge Cinema," understanding the edge as a meeting space between cultures, geographies, memories, and identities.

For this edition, the following official categories are established:

Horizonte Reloncaví (Reloncaví Horizon): Official competition for national and international fiction and documentary feature films that, from an auteur's perspective, explore the multiple relationships between territory, community, memory, identity, and landscape. Priority will be given to works that propose new ways of observing the geographical, cultural, and social edges that characterize the deep south and other territories of the world.

Desde el Muelle (From the Pier): Section aimed at showcasing cinematographies developed outside the main audiovisual production centers of Chile and Argentina, promoting exchange between filmmakers from both countries and strengthening the dialogue between decentralized territories. The category seeks to highlight works representing local identities, community processes, and stories linked to life in the regions, favoring diverse perspectives deeply rooted in their contexts.

Cine al Borde (Cinema at the Edge): International short film competition bringing together fiction and documentary works capable of exploring new narrative forms around peripheries, margins, communities, and contemporary territorial realities. The category seeks to recognize cinematic proposals that, through different audiovisual languages, reflect on the multiple ways of inhabiting physical, social, and cultural edges.

Raíces de Alerce (Alerce Roots): Competition dedicated to short films aimed at children and family audiences, addressing childhood, diversity, imagination, and the relationship with the territory from a sensitive, creative, and inclusive perspective. This category will be part of the Festival's audience development program and includes a Children's Jury, composed of boys and girls from rural and urban educational establishments in the Los Lagos Region.

5. PARTICIPATION AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Natural or legal persons, Chilean or foreign, who can prove they hold the patrimonial copyrights of the submitted works or have the necessary authorizations for their submission and eventual screening at the Festival may participate in the call for the I Reloncaví International Film Festival – FICRELONCAVÍ 2026.

Submitted works must meet the following requirements:

5.1 Production Date: Audiovisual works completed on or after January 1, 2025, will be accepted.

5.2 Accepted Genres: Each category will accept the genres indicated in the preceding chapter. There are no restrictions regarding the aesthetic or narrative treatment of the works, prioritizing proposals with an auteur's perspective and a significant connection to the Festival's curatorial axes.

5.3 Language: Works whose original language is not Spanish must have Spanish subtitles for the evaluation process and eventual screening.

5.4 Submission Platforms: Submissions must be made exclusively through the Festival's official platform:

The organization will not accept submissions sent by email or other means, except in exceptional cases previously authorized by the Festival Management.

5.5 Screener Material: Works must be sent via a private screener link or through the official submission platforms. The link must remain active, without password changes or access restrictions, until the official publication of the call results.

5.6 Status of the Work: Both premiered and unreleased works may be submitted, provided they meet the requirements established in these Guidelines.

5.7 Participation Rights and Authorization: The person responsible for the submission declares to be the holder of the patrimonial copyrights of the submitted audiovisual work or to have sufficient authorizations granted by their holders to represent it at FICRELONCAVÍ 2026. Likewise, they declare that, if selected, they will sign the corresponding screening authorization required by the Festival organization, under the terms established in Chapter 10 of these Guidelines.

5.8 Number of Submissions: Each natural person, legal entity, production company, or distribution company may submit a maximum of three (3) works, and may submit them to more than one category when applicable, provided each work meets the specific requirements of the respective category.

5.9 Submission Costs: The submission will be carried out through the Festival's official platforms. Costs associated with the use of such platforms, when applicable, will be the exclusive responsibility of the submitting party.

5.10 Exclusions: The following works may not participate:

Works that do not meet the requirements established in these Guidelines.

Works whose information provided during submission is false or incomplete.

Works subject to controversies regarding copyright or related rights ownership.

Works that cannot accredit the necessary authorizations for their screening if selected.

6. SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submitting to the I Reloncaví International Film Festival – FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 is free of charge and must be done exclusively within the period established in the Official Call Calendar.

Works must be submitted through one of the official platforms enabled by the Festival:

The person responsible for the submission must fully complete the form available on the selected platform, providing truthful, updated, and sufficient information for the proper evaluation of the work. The submission must include, at a minimum, the following information:

Original title of the work.

Country or countries of production.

Year of production.

Duration.

Category to which it is being submitted.

Synopsis.

Contact details of the person responsible for the submission.

Screener link, when applicable.

The organization may request additional background information when necessary to verify the details provided during the submission process. Incomplete submissions, those with incorrect information, or those whose screener material cannot be viewed by the Selection Committee may be declared inadmissible.

The reception of submissions will automatically end on the date and time established in the Official Call Calendar. Submissions after the deadline or through means other than those indicated in these Guidelines will not be accepted.

The mere submission of a work implies that the submitting party declares to know and fully accept these Guidelines and guarantees that they have the necessary powers to represent the work during the selection process and, if selected, during its participation in the Festival.

6.1 Official Communications:
All communications related to the submission process, selection, and participation in the Festival will be made exclusively through the email address provided by the submitting party on the submission platform. It is the responsibility of each applicant to keep their contact details updated and periodically check their email, including the spam folder. The organization will not be responsible for unreceived communications due to errors in the information provided or issues attributable to the applicant's email account.

7. SELECTION PROCESS
All works received within the established deadline and that meet the admissibility requirements outlined in these Guidelines will be evaluated by the FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 Selection Committee.

The Selection Committee will be composed of professionals linked to the cinematic, audiovisual, artistic, and cultural fields, convened by the Festival Management, who will evaluate the works according to curatorial, artistic, technical, and programmatic criteria. The official selection will respond to the identity and curatorial line of FICRELONCAVÍ, prioritizing works that dialogue with the principles of "Edge Cinema, Territory, and New Perspectives," as well as with artistic quality, the originality of the proposal, and its contribution to the diversity of the programming.

The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and unappealable.

The organization will strive to create a balanced program in terms of genres, origins, themes, formats, and territorial representation, without this implying an obligation to select a specific number of works per country or region. The persons responsible for the selected works will be notified via the email provided during submission, on the date established in the Official Call Calendar. The official Festival programming will subsequently be published through the website and official communication channels of FICRELONCAVÍ.

The organization is not obliged to provide reports, evaluations, scores, or individual justifications regarding non-selected works.

8. SELECTED WORKS
Works forming part of the Official Selection of FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 will be notified via the email provided during the submission process, on the date established in the Official Call Calendar.

The persons responsible for the selected works must confirm their participation within the timeframe informed by the organization. Failure to respond within the indicated period may be understood as a withdrawal from participating in the Festival, leaving the organization authorized to replace the work with another from the selection process.

Once participation is confirmed, the responsible persons must send the screening and promotional materials requested by the organization within the deadlines established in these Guidelines. Along with the submission of the screening materials, the responsible person must remit the screening authorization signed by the copyright holder and, when applicable, by the holders of related rights of the audiovisual work, which is an indispensable condition to integrate the official Festival programming.

Participation in FICRELONCAVÍ implies authorization to incorporate the selected work into the official Festival programming and into the extension, cultural mediation, and audience development activities contemplated in the project, in accordance with the provisions in the "Copyrights and Screening Authorization" chapter.

Selected works may use the official logo or the mention "Official Selection – FICRELONCAVÍ 2026" in their promotional materials once the organization officially publishes the Festival programming. Works that obtain any of the official awards may incorporate the mention corresponding to the obtained recognition in their future promotional actions, using the official graphics provided by the organization.

The definitive Festival programming, including dates, times, venues, and the screening order of the selected films, will be exclusively determined by the Festival Management.

The organization may remove any selected work from the programming when:

The responsible person fails to deliver the requested materials on time;

The required screening rights are not accredited;

The screening copy does not meet the necessary technical conditions for projection;

Falsehood in the information provided during submission is detected; or

Exceptional circumstances arise that objectively prevent the work's participation.

9. DELIVERY OF MATERIALS
Works that are part of the Official Selection of FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 must send the screening and promotional materials within the deadline established in the Official Call Calendar. All files must be sent via the system or platform specified in due time by the Festival organization.

9.1 Screening Materials: Each selected work must deliver:

A screening copy in DCP format or Apple ProRes 422 digital file. Exceptionally, the organization may accept H.264 files (.mp4 or .mov) when technical conditions permit.

Spanish subtitles, when applicable.

If more than one version of the work exists, it must be expressly indicated which corresponds to the official screening copy. The sent copy will be used during all official Festival screenings.

9.2 Promotional Materials: Selected works must also submit the following details:

Short synopsis (maximum 500 characters).

Complete technical specifications of the work.

Director's biography (maximum 500 characters).

High-resolution photograph of the director.

Between three and five (5) official film stills in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

Official movie poster, if available.

Official trailer or promotional clip (optional, but highly recommended).

Official social media of the film or production company, if available.

The organization may request additional details when necessary for creating the catalog, website, press releases, or other institutional promotional materials.

9.3 Material Quality: All materials must be sent in digital formats that allow their proper use for screening, press, and promotional purposes. The organization may request any file that presents quality, format, or integrity issues to be resent.

9.4 Non-compliance: Failure to deliver materials within the established deadlines may prevent the work from participating in the official Festival programming. If the screening copy or essential materials for the Festival's realization are not received, the organization may cancel the work's selection and replace it with another from the selection process.

10. COPYRIGHT AND SCREENING AUTHORIZATION
The natural or legal person submitting a work to the Reloncaví International Film Festival – FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 declares to hold the patrimonial copyrights to the submitted audiovisual work or to have all necessary authorizations granted by their respective holders to participate in this call.

Likewise, the submitting party declares that the work does not infringe on copyrights, related rights, image rights, or any other rights of third parties, fully assuming responsibility for any claim that may arise from its participation in the Festival. The submitting party frees the Cinematographic Foundation of the Southern Territory of Chile from any liability arising from potential claims related to copyright or related rights, in accordance with Law No. 17.336 on Intellectual Property.

10.1 Screening Authorization: Submission and subsequent acceptance into the Official Selection imply that the person responsible for the work commits to signing a written authorization in favor of the Cinematographic Foundation of the South for the screening of the work within the framework of the FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 project. This authorization will be formalized through a Screening Authorization Agreement. It will exclusively cover official functions, free community screenings, audience development activities, cultural mediation, extension showcases, educational functions, and other activities within the financed cultural project.

10.2 Validity of Authorization: The written authorization will be valid for a minimum of two (2) years from the date the FICRELONCAVÍ 2026 project is presented to the Cultural Donations Qualifying Committee.

10.3 Use of Promotional Materials: Responsible parties authorize the Festival to use titles, synopses, technical specs, photos, posters, logos, trailers, and up to two (2) minutes of footage exclusively for Festival promotion.

10.4 Safeguarding Authorizations: The Foundation will keep screening authorizations archived during the period required by applicable regulations.

10.5 Responsibility over Rights: The organization acts in good faith based on the information provided by the applicants. In the event of an infringement, the submitting party bears sole responsibility and shall hold the Foundation harmless.

10.6 Protection of the Work: The organization will adopt reasonable measures to safeguard the received screening copies. After the Festival, digital copies will be deleted or returned, except those whose preservation is legally required.

11. JURIES AND AWARDS
Works in the Official Selection will be evaluated by a jury specially convened by the Festival Management. The juries will consist of national and international professionals linked to cinema, arts, culture, academia, and creative industries. Decisions adopted by the juries will be final and unappealable.

11.1 Official Jury: Responsible for evaluating competitive categories and determining the winners based on artistic, narrative, technical, and curatorial criteria.

11.2 Children's Jury: The Raíces de Alerce category will be evaluated by boys and girls from educational establishments in the Los Lagos Region, guided by the Festival's mediation team.

11.3 Official Awards: FICRELONCAVÍ will award the statuette "La Tejuela de Alerce". Awards include:

Horizonte Reloncaví: Best Feature Film (Statuette and economic incentive).

Desde el Muelle: Best Film (Statuette).

Cine al Borde: Best Short Film (Statuette).

Raíces de Alerce: Best Short Film (Statuette).

11.4 Special Mentions: The Official Jury may grant Special Mentions at its discretion.

11.5 Awards Ceremony: Prizes will be awarded during the Official Closing Ceremony on Sunday, November 15, 2026.

12. FESTIVAL PROGRAMMING
The official programming of the Reloncaví International Film Festival will be exclusively defined by the Festival Management. The organization will determine dates, times, venues, and the screening order of the selected works. Selected works may be part of official screenings, opening/closing ceremonies, special functions, educational programs, and extension showcases. Functions organized by FICRELONCAVÍ will be cultural and non-commercial.

13. GENERAL PROVISIONS
Participation implies knowledge and acceptance of these Guidelines. The organization reserves the right to resolve any situation not covered in this document and to modify programming or venues if necessary. The organization may declare any category void if works do not meet the expected artistic or technical level. Information provided during submission will be used exclusively for Festival-related purposes, in accordance with data protection regulations. The organization is not responsible for failures in submission platforms or internet providers. These Guidelines will be interpreted according to the current legislation of the Republic of Chile.

14. ACCEPTANCE OF THE GUIDELINES
The submission of a work implies full knowledge and acceptance of these Guidelines by the person responsible for the submission, who declares to have the necessary powers to represent the work throughout the call, selection, and participation process. The submitting party declares that the information provided is true and assumes responsibility for any errors. Non-compliance with any provision may result in the exclusion of the work from the selection process or official programming.
