In 1981, André ABET and the city of Cabestany decided to create the First Encounter Short Film Festival of Cabestany. It is truly a encounter, more than a festival, because everything is planned to promote exchange between audience and directors, like the numerous “verre de l’amitié” (friendship toasts), offered after each screening. Always a fun and friendly moment!

Animation, documentary, experimental, fiction, musical clip and report with a maximum length of 30 minutes and French subtitles can take part in this international event.

Cash Prizes: 5,000€

The audience and a professional Jury, will award prizes in 6 different categories : Catalan, Amateur, Animation, Semi-Professional, Professional and International

Art 1 : The Image In association, the Town of Cabestany and their partners are organizing each year since 1981, the Encounters Short Film Festival « Image In Cabestany » at the André ABET cinema of the Jean FERRAT Cultural Centre of CABESTANY.

Art 2 : The directors can compete in one of the following categories:

- Amateur: Private individuals or non-profit organizations.

- Young Filmmaker: Recommended for young filmmakers under the age of 30 (please provide a copy of your passport or identity card)

- Semi Professional: Short film which has benefited from semi-professional material and /or a semi-professional team and/or financing by external bodies, sponsors, grants etc.

- Professional : Short film where the crew is paid.

- International or Catalan

Art 3 : Accepted film types : animation, documentary, experimental, fiction, musical clip and report on any subject. Maximum length: 30 minutes, including titles and credits. Foreign works must be subtitled in French.

Art 4 : To take part, an application form must be attached with each film and 10 euros or 12 dollars which partly covers organization, communication and return postal costs.

Art 5 : The following formats are accepted: DCP and HD or UHD file.

Art 6 : The application form, as well as the application fees must be sent by Octiber 30 at the latest. Address is : Mairie de Cabestany, Rencontres du court-métrage, Place des Droits de l'Homme, 66330 Cabestany, France

Art 7 : The Image In association will pay the SACEM royalties regarding the showing of musical works which are subject to copyright. The use of images borrowed from other productions –except those where the law requires them to– is absolutely forbidden. The Image In association declines all liability, whether civil or criminal, with regards to images or musical works used in the films without prior authorization by the authors.

Art 8 : To maintain the technical and artistic qualities of the event, the film will be subject to a short listing committee. Only the film which has been sent and selected will be shown at the event. The decisions of the short listing committee will be final and binding. The directors will be informed by email of the final choice. The program will be available on Image In association website http://imageincabestany.org

Art 9 : After short listing, the film will be shown to the public and to a permanent jury who will award the prizes to the directors who are present or to their appointed representative. The decisions of the short listing committee will be final and binding.

Art 10 : By sending their works the director is thereby authorizing the showing of their film. The Image In association declines all liability in case of theft, deterioration or damage which may be caused through transportation, projection or showing of the film.

Art 11 : The selected films are kept by the Image In association who reserves the right to show the film for promotional means, during free showings and in a nonprofit context. For this reason, the films will be stored in the video library of the Image In association.

Art 12 : By Applying to the Encounters Short Film Festival « Image In Cabestany » implies complete agreement to all 12 articles of these terms and conditions.
