The deadline to register for the XXV International Short Film Festival “El Pecado 2026” is open. This year prizes are: 1,500 euros for the winning fiction short film and 700 euros for the other four main prizes. The registration period goes from Monday May 4th, to Sunday June 7th of this year, both inclusive. The duration of the short films (maximum 2 by participant) will not exceed 20 minutes (21 including credits). If it has spoken sound, Spanish or subtitles in this language shall be used. -Award of the jury best short fiction film: € 1,500, Iberian Extremaduran ham and figurine.

-Award of the jury for the best short film of humor, prize "Antonio Gallardo": € 700, Iberian Extremaduran ham and figurine.

-Award of the jury for the best animated short film: € 700, Iberian Extremaduran ham and figurine.

-Award of the jury for the best short film of Extremadura: € 700, Iberian Extremaduran ham and figurine.

-Award of the organization to the best short film of the Campiña Sur, Sierra Norte and Tentudía: € 300 and figurine.

-"Linda Chacón" award to the recognition of women for their professional work in the world of cinema: € 300 and figurine. Award sponsored by the Department of Education, Equality and Diversity of the Llerena City Council and awarded by the organization.

-Award of the organization to the best short film: free shipping to 50 Spanish festivals through the Distributor Promofest. Award from Promofest.

The Hon. Municipality of Llerena and the Cineclub Llerena are convening the 25th edition of the International Short Film Competition "El Pecado 2026", to be held from 3 to 7 August of this year. The contest rules are as follows:

•It will be admitted a máximum of two original fiction free short films by participant.

• If the film have spoken sound, Castilian Spanish or subtitles in this language shall be used.

•The duration shall not exceed 20 minutes (21 including credits).

•Will not be admitted to contest works prior to 2024.

•Will not be admitted to contest works that have already participated in previous editions of this festival.

•To be admitted participation in the festival it is required online registration through the website/platform FESTHOME.

• With the online registration through the platforms, the documentation of the authors of the short films will be attached to the registration. In any case, no prize will be granted without due accreditation of the director or producer across the D.N.I. or identity document of the country in question.

•The short film will be registered on behalf of the physical or legal person included in the data of the registration form being the beneficiary of the price that may be awarded.

The organization assumes that the person has the rights over the work submitted; in any case, the organization disclaims any liability that may arise from the breach of this base by any of the participants. At all times the beneficiary of the award will be the person or company that owns the rights to the work.

•The delivery of works begins May 4th, 2026 and ends June 7th, 2026, both inclusive. The date of registration in festhome will be considered the presentation date. Any registration fees incurred will be the responsibility of the contestants. The organization assumes no responsibility for any problems that may arise with the platform during the registration process.

•The Organization reserves the right to refuse a work for its poor quality.

•With regards the competition, an official jury for the awards shall be appointed which will be composed by professionals from the video, television, music, the arts and communication.

The jury/organization may declare any prize desert and decide on any questions not covered in databases.

• The audience attending the screenings will choose the audience award among the works belonging to the official selection that will be projected during the days of August 3, 4 and 5, 2026.

•They are established the following awards:

•The awards will not be cumulative.

•prizes over € 300 will be subject to a 19% withholding tax.

•The jury may declare desert any award.

•To receive the prizes the authors of the winning works must be present at the awards ceremony. For justified reasons, the presence of a representative of them related to the short film will be allowed. If any of the winners is absent for a justified reason, the winner will be responsible for the shipping costs of the prize.

•The decision of the jury will be unappealable.

•The 25th International short film competition "El Pecado 2026" will take place on August 3, 4, 5, and 7, with the screening of a selection of short films submitted to the contest, on free and public sessions held air free in squares of special architectural and artistic interest of Llerena. On August 7 the short films finalists will be screened during the awards ceremony concluding the program with live performances by a musical group in the "Ciudad de Llerena" auditorium.

•The official selection of the festival will be published on the festival website www.certamenelpecado.com.

• The organization shall be able to download from the platform festhome a projection quality copy of all the short films participating in the festival in mp4 format. This copy will be physically available to the organization prior to July 1, 2026. If the organization does not have this copy before the date mentioned, the short film may not form part of the official selection of the festival or viewed by the jury of the festival.

• Only those short films that have proven to be an Extremadura production at a minimum of 50% will be participating in the "award of the jury for the best short film of Extremadura"

•The files of the works participating in the contest will remain property of the Organization, which can project such works in centers and rooms specialized for non-commercial, and reserve the right to publish and reproduce the same doing so mention of the author of the same.

•The presentation of the works to the competition implies the total acceptance of these rules.

The short films that compete for the organization's award for the best short film of Campiña Sur, Tentudía and Sierra Norte may not be longer than 12 minutes.
