The festival was created in 2015 and has the goal to become a space for professional development for filmmakers and amateurs that are looking for a platform to show their films and do some networking.
It has different categories for competition open for high school and university students (in Mexico), international filmmakers and french-speaking people. In addition, it has two international film exhibitis, one for gender and sexual diversity and one for long feature films.

CALL FOR THE SUBMISSION OF SHORT FILMS AND FEATURE FILMS FOR THE SEVENTH EDITION OF THE CECEHACHERO FILM FEST
The Mexican film festival known as Cecehachero Film
Fest calls for Mexican high school students, Mexican and international university students,
professionals of the film industry between 15 and 40 years old, as well as national and foreign film schools, to participate in the official selection of its seventh edition in one of its five sections.
ONE OFFICIAL SEBGLECTION
Since the last edition, the Cecehachero Film Fest has a single OFFICIAL
SELECTION divided into four sections:
- CECEHACHERA SECTION (AVAILABLE FOR MEXICO ONLY)
This category accepts submissions from students of Mexican high
schools. To read the requirements, please go to the Spanish version of
this document.
- UNIVERSITY SECTION (AVAILABLE FOR MEXICO ONLY)
This category accepts submissions from students of Mexican universities. To read the requirements, please go to the Spanish version

- GENERAL SECTION
People from Mexico and the rest of the world, professionals in the
film industry or amateurs, between 25 and 40 years old, and students
of film schools can participate with up to two proposals of fiction
and/or non-fiction short films whose production has concluded
between January of 2021 and March of 2023, with a maximum length of
20 minutes each including credits.
The categories to be awarded in this section are:
Gloria Shoemann Category
o Best National Short Film
Category Alice Guy-Blaché
o Best International Short Film
Rules:
Fill out the participant registration form found on the official
website of the festival and at the following link: FORM.
Specifications:
1. The definition of the movie must be in Full HD (1920x1080).
2. The maximum length of the short film has to be 20 minutes
including credits.
3. The theme of the film is free.
4. The deadline for submission is Sunday May 7, 2023 at 23:59 (CST)
5. The music must be original or, in case of including copyrighted
music, include proof of having the right to use it. Otherwise, the
submission will not be considered.
6. Films spoken in Spanish must have English subtitles, while films
spoken in another language must have Spanish subtitles. The
subtitle file must be integrated into a separate .SRT file (NOT IN
THE MOVIE RENDER).
7. If the short film is spoken in Spanish, it will be mandatory to
integrate English and/or French subtitles for its verdict. If the
short film is selected, it will be mandatory to have French
subtitles.
8. It must have a French subtitles file integrated into a separate
.SRT file (NOT IN THE MOVIE RENDER).
9. The short film must be hosted in its maximum definition and in
private mode in a Vimeo account (NOT YOUTUBE), Drive or
Dropbox, with the download option enabled, so when filling out
the registration form the link to the film and password for
viewing are given.
10. Short films that have been selected in other festivals or
previous competitions may be accepted.
11. The required materials must be delivered digitally with a link to
a folder labeled as follows:
"General_Name of-the-short film". This folder will be requested
when answering the form.

the film industry and film schools can submit a proposal for a fiction
or non-fiction short film whose production has concluded between
January of 2021 and March of 2023, with a maximum duration of 20
minutes including credits.
The categories to be awarded in this section are:
Lumière Category
o Best Francophone Short Film

1. The quality of the movie has to be in Full HD (1920x1080).
2. The maximum length of the short films must be 20 minutes
including credits.
3. The theme of the works is free.

music, include proof of having the right to use it. Otherwise, the
submission will not be considered.

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
- AWARDS

1. The previously known as Feature Film Section has now become the
NON-COMPETITIVE Feature Film Exhibition.
2. In our short film sections (Cecehachera, University, General and
Francophone) the prize for Best Short Film will be awarded to
the producer and director.
3. Your registration confirmation will be notified via email.
4. The directors and producers of the selected short and feature
films smust add the festival logo to their promotional material
(posters, social networks, etc.).
5. The elected short films will be announced at our press
conference, official website, social networks and via email.
6. Films that does not comply with the guidelines of the call WILL
NOT BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION.
7. Proof of participation and victory (in some cases) will be given
to all selected films.
8. The closing of this call is Sunday May 7, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. (CST)
9. No films received after the closing date of this call will be
considered.
10. The award ceremony will take place at the closing event of the
seventh edition of the festival.
11. A group of people will be set as juries for each section. This
groups will gather a group of industry and academic
professionals from national and international backgrounds.
12. THE JURY'S DECISION IS FINAL.
13. Cases not foreseen in this call will be resolved by the
organizers of the festival.
14. If a time extension is given to the call, it will have a cost.
15. If the short film is spoken in Spanish, it will be mandatory to
integrate English and/or French subtitles for its verdict. If the
short film is selected, it will be mandatory to have French
subtitles.
16. If the short film is spoken in French or another language other
than Spanish, it will be mandatory to integrate Spanish
subtitles to be considered in the official selection.
17. The short films that enter this call will not be able to
participate in the following calls for the exhibitions (WHICH
WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN COMPETITION) of the seventh edition of
the festival.

A UNIQUE SELECTION
First films and second national or international films whose production have been concluded from January of 2021 until the closing of this call may participate.

CALL FOR THE INTERNATIONAL GENDER PERSPECTIVE AND SEXUAL DIVERSITY FILM EXHIBITION OF THE CECEHACHERO FILM FEST (SEVENTH EDITION)
The seventh edition of the Cecehachero Film Fest invites high school and university students, professionals from the film industry, film school students and all people between 18 and 40 years old to participate in the 2nd International Gender Perspective and Sexual Diversity Film Exhibition that will take place in September of 2023, within the framework of the festival, in Mexico and France.
ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
The exhibition aims to create a safe space to watch short films created in previous years from a gender perspective and/or sexual diversity point of view to share common perspectives, concerns and experiences.
A UNIQUE SELECTION
People between 18 and 40 years old of any nationality, high school students, university students, professionals of the film industry and film school students can submit up to two proposals for consideration. They can be either fiction or non-fiction short films but they must’ve been recorded between 2017 and 2023 with a maximum length of 10 minutes. Being an exhibit, there will be no juries involved in the selection but there will be a curatorship in order to select the best 8 to 10 materials for public screening. There will be no awards either.

2. The minimum definition shall be FULL HD (1920X1080).

4. The maximum length of the short film has to be 10 minutes (including credits).
