On November 29, 1974, the DINA arrested Carmen Bueno and Jorge Müller after the premiere of the film “A la sombra del sol”. 51 years after their forced disappearance, filmmakers continue to remember on this day two great figures of national cinema through film.

ARTICLE 1 - Objective
The Film Festival “29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH” has the purpose of generating a space for debate and reflection on Memory and Human Rights through artistic cinematographic representation in documentary, fiction, animation and/or experimental format, contained in the realization of a quality critical cinema with social commitment. The festival, in its first version, was born on the 50th anniversary of the detention and forced disappearance of two Chilean filmmakers, Carmen Bueno and Jorge Müller, for whom the Day of Chilean Cinema is commemorated today on the date of their disappearance.
ARTICLE 2 - Celebration
The 3nd Festival “29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH” will be held on November 27-29, 2026 in the city of Valparaíso and Santiago, Chile.
ARTICLE 3 - Pre-selection conditions
The Festival Selection Committee is exclusively responsible for the Official Selection and decides in which section a film may participate: Chilean Human Rights and International Human Rights Film Section.
*The Festival reserves the right to create a new section based on the works received.
ARTICLE 4 - Registration
- 4.1 The registration of your film (short or feature film) is not subject to any registration fee.
- 4.2 Registrations will be made through the Festhome platform. In case you experience any impediment that does not allow registration through the platform you can send an email to: 29n@vafilmica.com
- 4.3 Each author may register a maximum of three works.
- 4.4 The following list corresponds to the requirements requested at the time of application
Technical specifications: Original title, direction and production, language of the film, countries involved in the production, year of release, duration, format (fiction, documentary/non-fiction, animation).

ARTICLE 4.2 - Requirements
- 4.2.1 - Meet the objective of the Festival as defined in article 1. Be related to the education, promotion, dissemination and/or violation of Universal Human Rights (as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights).
- 4.2.2 - Have been registered for selection through the Festhome platform.
- 4.2.3 - Have been produced in the twenty-four months prior to the Festival (after November 1, 2024).
ARTICLE 4.3 - Reception
- The deadline for registration will be September 30, 2026, Hrs 23:59 (GMT -4, Valparaíso, Chile).
ARTICLE 4.4 - length of the films
Short films:
A short film is considered to be any work with a maximum duration of 30 minutes (including credits).
Feature Films:
A feature film is considered to be any work with a duration of more than 60 minutes.
ARTICLE 4.5 - selection screening
All films must be submitted in their original version (the original version is considered to be any language in which the film is or will be broadcast in its country of origin).
In order for the Selection Committee to view the film, it must be subtitled as follows:
- Films whose dialogues are in Spanish, subtitling will not be necessary.
- Films whose dialogues are in a language other than Spanish*:
With Spanish subtitles in the copy (embedded) or by means of an .srt / .sub file.
*The cost of subtitling shall be borne by the producer of the film.
ARTICLE 4.6. Presentation format
Whatever the medium used for the shooting of the film (mini DV, super 8, 35mm, digital, etc.) only films with the following characteristics will be accepted:
- The audio, video and subtitles must be contained in a single file and the file size must not exceed 10 GB (electronic subtitles in an extra file in .srt or .sub format).
- The file name must not include any special characters. Do not use, for example, any file name like: “myfilm! @ &% $ § § * ().mp4”.
- The film must be submitted only once and on a single media.
File extension: .MOV or .MP4
Resolution: FullHD (1080p), 2k (2048p) or higher
Aspect ratio: 16:9 (1920X1080)
Frame rate: 24 or 30 fps
Audio: Dolby stereo.
Suggested weight: It is recommended that the video file does not exceed 10 GB.

ARTICLE 4.7 - submission
Must be submitted through the Festhome platform.
ARTICLE 5 - use of selected works and promotional material
All promotional material (texts, data and photos) sent by the participant to the Festival “29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH”, during the registration period, may be used in digital and physical publications (catalog, programming, press releases, e-mails, social networks and festival website), in order to inform the public about the official selection, this material may be translated, corrected and edited for advertising purposes of the festival ”29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH”. Participants authorize the dissemination of up to three minutes of images of the audiovisual works registered, in any media. The Festival may make a video montage of several fragments of the selected works and disseminate it in any format for promotional purposes in Chile and abroad.
The Festival will store the films, as well as any other digital or physical material received and may be consulted at convenience and will become part of the Organization's Media Library, in order to possibly include them in future “Retrospective” sections of the Festival “29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH”.
The organization will not return any copy sent. The full acceptance of these conditions grants the Festival “29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH” the exhibition rights. The selected audiovisual works may be used in film exhibitions outside the Festival, in the events that the organization considers appropriate. Under the terms of these regulations, the participants of the Festival “29N. Festival de Cine, Memoria y DDHH” authorize the publication and use of this material for the aforementioned purposes*.
* The respective credits will always be given.
Any person or institution interested in acquiring a copy of any of the films will be put in direct contact with whoever holds their rights.
ARTICLE 6 - Responsibilities of the participant
Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of the regulations and compliance with the pre-selection conditions.
In case the submitted works include author's music, they must have the respective rights and/or give proper credit to the authors of the musical tracks.
Whoever holds the rights to the film must have the licenses, copyrights, copylefts and rights to the images, sounds or any other intellectual property rights used for its realization.
In case of claims for infringement of licenses or rights, the producer of the film is the only one directly responsible for its management, therefore, the “29N.Festival de Cine, Memoria y DD.HH.” from any litigation in this matter.
These regulations apply to all Official Selections.
