DESCRIPTION OF THE FESTIVAL
The MUMA FEST International Women 's and LBTTIQ Audiovisual Festival of Patagonia will take place on Friday May 22nd and Saturday May 23th, 2026 in the town of El Hoyo, province of Chubut, Argentina. The screenings will take place at the Casa de la Cultura Auditorium, located at the corner of Los Ciruelos & Los Guindos.
Only content directed by Women, Lesbixns, Transvestites, Trans, Bisexuals, Intersexuals and Non Binaries will be admitted.
MUMA Fest will have the following sections:
- Non competitive Argentinian Series
- International Feature Film Competition
- International Short Film Competition
- Argentine-Chilean Patagonian Competition (Short and Feature Films).
All types of audiovisual genres are admitted.
OBJECTIVES OF THE FESTIVAL
- To know and recognize the narratives of women and dissidents from all over the world and to put them in dialogue with the Patagonian public.
- Strengthen the ties between distribution companies, producers and filmmakers of Patagonia.
- To provide tools for professional training that contribute to the labor insertion of women and dissidents from the Patagonian region.
- To generate a space for exchange with women's audiovisual networks from other parts of Latin America and the world.
All the winning films in each section:
- Will receive Muma Fest laurels and certificates.
- Will be mentioned in the social networks of the Festival and the Muma Fest Organization.
- Will be part of the digital catalog of our Festival.
- Will be screened at least one more time through the
MUMA FEST TOUR:
Presentation of the winning films in different provinces of the Argentine Patagonian region (Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut and Santa Cruz) and the Chilean Patagonian region (Aysen).
We intend to continue expanding the number of locations and provinces of both countries that can join the PATAGONIAN TOUR =)

ARTICLE 1
Organized by the Network of Women and Dissidents of Argentine Patagonia, part of RED FAP (Patagonia Audiovisual Festival Network), endorsed by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), the 2026 edition of the MUMA PATAGONIA Audiovisual Festival will take place in person on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the town of El Hoyo, in the province of Chubut, Argentina. In the Auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura, on the corner of Los Ciruelos & Los Guindos.
This festival aims to strengthen ties between distribution companies, producers, and filmmakers in Patagonia, to learn about and recognize the narratives of women and dissidents from around the world and bring them into dialogue with the public, to provide tools for professional training with a gender perspective that contribute to the employment of women and dissidents in the Patagonian region, and to create a space for exchange with networks of women in the audiovisual industry from other parts of Latin America and the world.
ARTICLE 2
The registration of films in all COMPETITION sections for Argentine content will be free of charge. To do so, you must request a 100% discount code by email at mumafestpatagonia@gmail.com. If you do not request it, the festival organization does not guarantee the refund of the registration fee.
Foreign productions in INTERNATIONAL competitions will be charged a fee according to their territory of origin.
In the case of the PATAGONICA section, registration will be free and exclusively for films (short and feature films) made in La Pampa, Rio Negro, Neuquén, Chubut, Santa Cruz, and Tierra del Fuego (Argentina). In Los Lagos, Aysén, Magallanes (Chile).
ARTICLE 3
The 2026 edition of the MUMA PATAGONIA Audiovisual Festival will include:
International feature film competition,
International short film competition,
Patagonian film competition (feature films and short films)
This year, for the first time, we will have a non-competitive virtual section for Argentine series.
ARTICLE 4
Each selected film will have one in-person screening. Once the Festival has communicated the selection of the film, its producer or representative must send the requested materials that will be used for the digital catalog, the website, the press, advertising, and the promotion of the film at the Festival. Films will be presented in their original language, with Spanish subtitles if they are in a foreign language.
It is a condition for participation in MUMA FEST that the film has Spanish subtitles.
If necessary, the Festival can offer a paid subtitling service.
ARTICLE 5
To submit a film for selection at the Festival, the following steps must be completed:
a) Register by submitting the film on one of the following platform:
b) Send a download link for the screening copy: a high-definition file. If the film is in a foreign language, it must have Spanish subtitles.

ARTICLE 6
The Selection Committee, made up of members of Mujeres Audiovisuales de la Patagonia, will recommend to the Festival authorities the films to be selected for this edition. The authorities will decide on the basis of this proposal, selecting works that meet the Festival's objectives and have relevant and/or innovative artistic value, in order to form an Official Section compatible with the requirements of a Competitive International Festival.
ARTICLE 7
The festival organizers will appoint the members of the juries for each section. Decisions will be made by absolute majority. Anyone with any kind of interest in the production or exploitation of a film in competition may not be a member of the jury. The members of the jury firmly undertake not to publicly express their opinions on the films submitted for their consideration before the official announcement of the awards.
ARTICLE 8
INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
National and international feature films of any genre may participate. Productions must have been completed between 2025 and the current year during the 12 (twelve) months prior to the start dates of the Festival.
Copies to be screened must have Spanish subtitles if they are in other languages.
The Jury may award up to two (2) Special Mentions, indicating the reasons why those receiving them deserve such mentions. No film may receive more than two (2) awards, and no award may be declared void.
The prize consists of the awarding of a diploma and the screening of the film in locations in Patagonia and around the world as part of the MUMA FEST 2026/2027 tour.
ARTICLE 9
INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
National and international short films of any genre that must have been completed within the 12 (twelve) months prior to the start dates of the Festival are eligible to participate.
Copies to be screened must have Spanish subtitles if they are in other languages.
Short films may not exceed 30 (thirty) minutes, including credits.
The jury will award the prize for Best Short Film in the Competition, which may not be declared void. It may also award up to 2 (two) Special Mentions.
The prize consists of a diploma and the screening of the film in Patagonian locations and around the world as part of the MUMA FEST 2026/2027 tour.
ARTICLE 10
PATAGONIAN COMPETITION
Feature films and short films by Patagonian directors that must have been completed during the 12 (twelve) months prior to the start dates of the Festival are eligible to participate. These are films made in Rio Negro, Neuquén, Chubut, Santa Cruz, and Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) and in Los Lagos, Aysén, and Magallanes (Chile).
Copies to be screened must have Spanish subtitles if they are in other languages.
Short films may not exceed 30 (thirty) minutes, including credits.
The jury will award the prize for Best PATAGONIAN Audiovisual Work, which cannot be declared void. It may also award up to two (2) Special Mentions.
The prize consists of a diploma and the screening of the film in locations in Patagonia and around the world as part of the MUMA FEST 2026/2027 tour.
ARTICLE 11
NON-COMPETITIVE online EXHIBITION OF ARGENTINE SERIES
Series produced in all territories of the Argentine Republic that must have been completed as of January 2024 are eligible to participate. All audiovisual genres, themes, durations, and number of episodes are welcome. They must have been produced by a scriptwriting, directing, and production team led by women, lesbians, transvestites, trans, bisexual, intersex, and non-binary individuals.
The series' participation in MUMA FEST will consist of
- In-person screening of the series trailer at the Auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura, in El Hoyo, province of Chubut, Argentina.
- Virtual screening of only one (1) episode of the series. The episode will be uploaded to our YouTube channel and advertised on our social media as part of the 2026 Muma Fest program.
- The episode will remain on our platform for a maximum of one week.
Muma Fest's communications and social media will provide access to the entire series through links or instructions deemed appropriate by the production company/distributor that holds the exhibition rights.
Copies to be screened must have Spanish subtitles if they are spoken in other languages.
ARTICLE 12
Once a film has been selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival.
The producers and distributors of the films participating in the Competitions undertake to include the phrase “Official Selection of the MUMA FEST Audiovisual Festival” in all their advertising and press material, using the official laurels of the Festival.
The producers and distributors of films that win awards agree to highlight them in all their advertising and press material, using the official Festival laurels.
The graphic design of the official laurels will be sent by email for use.

Open to feature films made by women, of any genre (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, musical), of more than 60 minutes in length. If the film is not spoken in Spanish, it must have subtitles in that language for screening at the festival.
