Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival celebrates the artistic, educational and historical importance of short films and music. It gives independent film artists a platform for sharing their work and creating a dialogue with the community. It promotes the discussion and study of filmmaking.
DISFMF is the largest independent short film festival in Ireland, in 2024 we are celebrating the 13th anniversary.
In 2023 we selected over 90 short films from all over the world, the festival has brought established, emerging and award-winning filmmakers to the public attention.
Back in the cinema, the festival took place at the Cineworld, the biggest cinema in Ireland and The Sugar Club for the awards ceremony night.

For our 2014 season, we are accepting submissions internationally of feature length and short length films in the genres of Documentary, Experimental, Religious/Spiritual, Animation, Comedy, Horror, with Horror sub-genres that include Supernatural, Thrillers, Wicken, Magical, Slashers, Science Fiction, Suspense, Horror Documentary, Horror Animation and all genres of Music Videos and GLBT films for the 2014 festival.

We shall accept Music Videos of all genres from Pop, Punk, Rock, Alt-Country, Country-Western, Folk, Reggae, Hip-Hop to Electronica, Jazz, Blues, Zydeco, Industrial, Metal, Hardcore, Gothic, Karaoke, Avant-Garde, World Music, and Experimental.

Showcasing the best films of the 2014 season, the Great Lakes International Film Festival will be held LIVE in the great city of Erie Pennsylvania in September 2014, with our online festival taking place September 18th thru September 30th, 2014.
Since our inception, the Great Lakes International Film Festival has always been on the cutting-edge of independent film presentation.
As the first to introduce film screenings that completely utilized the DLP® technology developed by Texas Instruments, our festival has always brought tomorrow’s technology to the independent film world today.
In keeping with that same dedication to technology, our festival now introduces the new face of online film screenings. It was with much time and expense that we developed our state-of-the-art and revolutionary online screening platform, keeping both the Filmmaker’s peace of mind and the complete security of the Filmmaker’s work always as our first and highest priority.
Much like a brick and mortar screening, our virtual theater allows the filmmaker’s work to be showcased to the world with the highest levels of security and presentation quality. Unlike any online screening system in the world, ours never allows films to be copied, downloaded, or reproduced in any way, nor can the html code of any film be copied and pasted into any other site successfully. No film launched in our virtual theater can play or even appear on any other website.
The Great Lakes International Film Festival’s virtual theater platform offers filmmakers not only the exposure to the world that they deserve, but does so keeping the integrity of the film and the filmmaker’s trust always fully intact.
Over the years, we have had many films that have screened on the Sundance Channel, IFC, PBS and HBO along with countless filmmakers who have received distribution deals after screening in our festival.
For the filmmaker that is looking for a bit more, the Great Lakes International Film Festival is also a great place to get your film noticed. In October of 2004 we were proud to present the North East United States Premiere of “SAW”, Lions Gate Films’ gripping psychological thriller starring Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter and Leigh Whannel, and with “The Collector of Bedford Street” having been nominated for an Academy Award after being screened at our 2002 fest, we certainly bring the best and the brightest to the shores of Erie, Pa.
We have also been host to such filmmakers and special guests as actor/director/producer Dirk Benedict (Battlestar Galacticaand A-Team); writer Erick Rodgers (Writer of NYPD Blue); director/producer Harri James (script supervisor “Alias”, Tremors II: Aftershocks, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins); producer Otto Felix (“B.J. and the Bear” & Up in Smoke); award-winning, best-selling mystery author Jamian Snow (Shrouded Insanity); actor/writer/producer Bill Hinzman (Flesheater & Night of the Living Dead); director Lloyd Kaufman (Toxic Avenger films, Pot Zombies, & President of Troma Films); actor Gunnar Hansen (Texas Chainsaw Massacre); actor/ director Mark Borchardt (American Movie & Coven); director John Hancock (“Hill Street Blues”, “The Twilight Zone”, & California Dreaming); actress Debbie Rochon “Scream Queen” (Blood Relic, Vampyre Tales, & Lord of the Undead); producer/director Bobby Logan (Meatballs 4 & Repossessed); Joel Miller; WWE and ECW wrestling superstar The Blue Meanie, and in 2002 we had the unique opportunity to present Keith Carradine with a special award for artistic excellence, award-winning director Joone, award-winning actress Jesse Jane, and local actress Marie Madison.
The legendary Terry Moore who was our special guest of honor in 2006 was presented with a lifetime Achievement Award for her amazing accomplishments in film over the past 60 years.
From the feature narrative genre to documentary to animation; experimental, horror and Spiritual films, the Great Lakes International Film Festival celebrates the film arts in dynamic transition. As emerging technologies continue to redefine the form, filmmakers from the Great Lakes region, across the country and around the world express the common and the diverse through the age-old tradition. — The art of the story.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, 9FilmFest will cancel the May 27 - 28 dates and will move to September 2-3, 2020. Bangkok has closed malls, theatres, restaurants, schools and there is no update to when services will resume again. But the past two days has seen a drop in the number of Covid-19 infections, so we are hoping for control of the pandemic. We appreciate your understanding and offer our support during these difficult times of quarantine.
Welcome to the 8th Bangkok 9FilmFest, an annual international short film festival held in the greatest city in South East Asia. The 8th 9Fest will be held at Cinema Oasis, Bangkok’s newest indie film centre. Located on Bangkok’s pristine Sukhumvit road, not far from the famous Emquartier Mall. 9Fest was founded by filmmakers, for filmmakers and audience. We are excited to announce 9FilmFest dates of September 2-3, 2020.
Tell us your story! We accept short films of all genres.
What is more rewarding than having your film accepted into Competition? As Filmmakers, we take great pride in announcing our film is in the competition! “9” is the luckiest number in Thailand. Thus, 9 films are selected as Competition Finalists. Film Science, needs festivals to screen and create memorable and inspiring experiences for filmmakers and the audience. When we capture the audience we are successful!
Last year, the 9Fest Finalist Program screened at the magnificent Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.
Last year, at the 2019 Indy Shorts Festival, the THE TRANSLATOR’s director, Pagorn Jungrungruang flew more than 11,000 miles to Indianapolis from Thailand to present his film at the 9Fest Program screening.
Here’s what they said at Roger Ebert’s website:
SERIOUS OSCAR CONTENDERS UNVEILED AT 2019 INDY SHORTS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
by Matt Fagerholm www.rogerebert.com
9Fest, the short film festival run in Bangkok by Brian Bennett, was the focus of a special section at Indy Shorts, compiling several works from directors around the globe, and like all the festival curation I observed here, it was anything but redundant. Bake Phouikham’s “Fallen Star, Rising Sun,” offers a candid sit-down with Ko Chandetka, the first Lao-American bodybuilder, whose struggles with addiction nearly derailed his life. He told me afterward that he believes there’s no healthy way to participate in any sport on a world-class level, and that one must always weigh the risks with the rewards.
The creative world is at your fingertips. 9FilmFest’s goal is to support filmmakers, applaud their hard work, spark creativity and provide opportunities for discovery. We’re here to make filmmakers dreams come true.
9Fest looks forward to seeing your amazing stories. We ensure your consideration in submitting and trusting us with your film.
Every year the Adventure Movie Awards international film competition selects some of the best adventure short films from around the world.

The aim is to reward the short films that are able to convey this meaning of Adventure on the screen and that are able to communicate emotions, passions and dreams through images and dialogues. Not just pure action, but life stories.

We screen the best documentaries from around the world at the Roxie Cinema, the oldest art house theater west of the Mississippi. Many of our titles end up with calendared runs at the Roxie later in the year. We get great press coverage in San Francisco, the second largest film market in the country, plus industry reviews.
San Francisco is a very receptive town for documentaries and our fest has built a passionate following over the past 24 years.
LAST YEAR'S PRESS COVERAGE: https://sfindie.com/press-coverage
SF DocFest is an annual festival devoted to documentary cinema. Since 2001, this event has brought the most weird and wonderful aspects of real life to the big screen.
"What makes the scrappy San Francisco Documentary Film Festival a treasure to SF Bay Area filmgoers is its willingness to take that extra step to show films a little more out there than bog standard documentaries." - Peter Wong, Broke Ass Stuart
“Docfest offers a zippy blend of politics, music, social issues and youth-oriented subcultures. The good news is that DocFest promotes documentaries as a vibrant, irreverent form of entertainment to a younger demographic, blasting the notion of educational films to smithereens. There’s no room for anything approximating — watch it, I’m about to blaspheme – the obsessively measured and utterly somnambulant musings of Ken Burns.” – Michael Fox, KQED
“Since its inception, DocFest (May 31-June 15 at the Roxie and the Vogue, with opening night at Alamo Drafthouse) has compiled a colorful scrapbook of genuine characters in contrast to the current events survey, educational seminar or social-issue forum that defines many documentary series… There are one or two people in Off the Charts you won’t soon forget, which could be said about nearly every film in DocFest. That’s one of the pleasures of scrapbooks.” – also Michael Fox, KQED
Michael Fox just loves DocFest, here's another:
"Welcome to SF DocFest, the beloved annual compendium of odd, unusual nonfiction films from every nook and corner of our bizarro country and beyond. Waving off the pedigreed, high-profile docs that premiere at Sundance, get theatrical releases (or these days, national virtual releases) and chart a course for the Academy Awards, SF DocFest’s programmers opt for poignant, intimate works that miss the mainstream by dint of their iconoclasm and/or lack of a marketing hook." -KQED
"This week brings the kickoff to the 20th edition of SF Docfest, the rapidly-becoming-venerable nonfiction showcase that nonetheless continues to put the fun in documentary cinema appreciation. While other such showcases tend to be soberly issue-themed, focusing on the environment, activism, or some such, Docfest pursues—though not exclusively—colorful human interest stories, musician profiles, and other subjects on which there will not be a class quiz afterward." - Dennis Harvey, 48Hills
