Berlin Indie Shorts Festival

Berlin, Germany

Award-winning film directors Yuri Maslak & Olga Tugaeva invite you to take part in the Berlin Indie Shorts Festival, which takes place in the cinematic capital of Europe. Berlin is a city where different cultures and nationalities meet, a city where the spirit of freedom and creativity reigns. It is a magnet for talented actors, directors, screenwriters and other industry professionals seeking to contribute to the development of cinema. It is a true centre of cinema, where new ideas are born and the most ambitious projects are realised.

The festival organisers are the creators of films that have won more than 100 awards at international film festivals. We know how difficult it is to start a career in cinema. We have travelled this path and are committed to helping a new generation of talented filmmakers. We believe that young filmmakers should have the opportunity to realise their potential and we want to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone involved can feel part of a great filmmaking community.

Berlin Indie Shorts Festival is not just an independent film competition, it is a platform that brings together talented filmmakers. The festival aims to present the most daring, innovative and inspiring short films, created without regard to commercial frameworks or stereotypes. It values originality, experimentation with form and content, and the ability to tell stories that make the viewer think and feel. It is a place where new ideas are born and new names are discovered in the world of cinema, an opportunity for filmmakers from all over the world to make a name for themselves, to be noticed and to be appreciated.

We gather the best works from all over the world that impress with their originality and unique approach to storytelling. Short film is the art of telling big stories with small means, capturing the spirit in a matter of minutes and leaving a mark in the hearts of the audience for years to come. Here it ceases to be the “little brother” of feature-length cinema and acquires its own uniqueness and value.

The live screening of the season’s winning films and the awards ceremony take place in the legendary creative space Heckmann-Höfe – our Berlin’s Montmartre. After the official part, the evening will continue in an atmosphere of relaxed socializing to the sound of music. Over a cup of aromatic coffee you will be able to make new acquaintances and possibly become part of projects that can change the world of cinema.

NO CLICHÉS. NO LIMITS. JUST PURE ART.

Belgrade, Serbia

Sound and Music Film Festival Makedonska 21 is taking place in an old Belgrade building dating back to early 20tth century (1928), which is situated on Makedonska 21 street. This was the building of the strongest workers union at the time, founded to promote highly respected values of mutual respect and solidarity. After the Second World War the premises were used by Radio Belgrade as the location of Studio 10, which was the home of most significant radio dramas and music records. This place was responsible for introducing the art of sound to Belgrade listeners and making it an essential part of their cultural heritage, proving itself to be of an immeasurable artistic, cultural, and social significance.

Today, the building is a blend of residential and commercial units. Relying on the building’s rich history, their residents decided to give something in return and contribute to its tradition by starting a film festival that celebrates the art of film music and sound design.

The festival is intended to be a professional networking platform for anyone coming from these fields –film composers, sound designers, sound recordist, music producers, musicians, music bands, to name a few, in order to give them the opportunity to explore, learn, exchange their knowledge and unite ideas.

The festival welcomes films of all categories – documentary films, short fiction films, experimental films, animated films, of all genres, as long as they are commited to creative use of their soundscape.

The bulding premises alow this event to spread its sound magic on various stages simoultaneously – from the monumental hall with great acoustics, and music store Metropolis located on the ground floor, all the way to the roof top, where people can enjoy films and live music over drinks under the vast Belgrade sky.

Alte Visioni│Erto Film Festival

Erto e Casso, Italy

Among the peaks that stand out against the sky and the deep silence of the valleys that preserve ancient stories, “Alte Visioni│Erto Film Festival” is born. It 's not just a film festival but a bridge of light and images thrown between the past and the future, between the memory and resilience of a territory unique in the world: Erto and Casso.

The purpose is twofold and deeply rooted in this land.

First, to honor the memory and learn from it. Erto and Casso are places that bear the scars of Vajont, an eternal reminder of the fragile balance between man and the environment. However, the mountains have also been the scene of epic historical events—think of the trenches of the First and Second World Wars, or the transit routes and natural fortresses that have shaped entire civilizations and conflicts. With our awards and screenings, we want to create a space for deep reflection, where memory is not just a recollection but becomes a tool for awareness. We want cinema to help us explore the lessons of the past, understand the complexities of human choices, and promote an ethic of responsibility towards our planet and future generations. Every image projected will be a tribute to those who are no longer with us and an invitation to build a better tomorrow.

Secondly, to celebrate resilience, rebirth, and mountain life, which is not only a memory of tragedies. It is also living testimony to the unstoppable force of nature and the tenacity of the human spirit. Like some trees in the Bosco Vecchio forest, which were able to take root again after the landslide and whose branches have become new life, our community has been able to get back on its feet and look ahead. The festival aims to highlight this capacity for rebirth, the wild and untamed beauty of our mountains, the culture that animates them, and the new perspectives that are opening up. We want cinema to be a tool for telling stories of hope, adaptation, sustainability, and the deep connection between humans and the nature that surrounds them.
