In a global scenario of social and economic crises, climate change, and loss of biodiversity, it is becoming increasingly necessary to understand and respect the oceansmbetter and value their existence and importance for the present and future of humanity and the planet.
Sea Film Festival - Puerto de Ideas Biobío seeks to convene documentary film productions that have the seas and oceans as a common thread, addressing their themes from a scientific, cultural, or artistic point of view.
The Best Film award will consist of a physical prize as well as an invitation to preside over the Festival jury for the next edition, including a visit to Chile to participate in Puerto de Ideas Biobío, with travel expenses for one person in the business class and the best hospitality available.
There will be a single category, "Best Film", in which medium-length and feature films of 30 to 90 minutes lenght can be nominated, premiered after January 1st 2020.
The Best Film award will consist of a physical prize as well as an invitation to preside over the Festival jury for the next edition, including a visit to Chile to participate in Puerto de Ideas Biobío, with travel expenses for one person in the business class and the best hospitality available.
All links and languages will be accepted. In the case of productions in Spanish, English, French, and Italian, subtitles are not necessary. For all other languages, productions must be shared with English subtitles.
Applications will be received between May 1st and July 31st, 2022
Applications must be made through the platform festhome.com
During the first two weeks of August, the applications will be reviewed by an international jury that will decide on the selected applications.
The jury will choose by the absolute majority of its members the winning production. If a decision is not obtained in a first vote, the two most voted productions will go to a second round.
The productions will be exhibited during the duration of the festival at the Dante Theater in Talcahuano.
